Not sure if leaving Penelope with Rathbone would be "revenge" or "adding to the mental anguish", given her state of "keeping everyone awake" during that trip.
I don't think I've enjoyed a vlog of people I barely know or barely watched anywhere near as much as this one. Dude is a ginger version of a recently departed friend and the humour and attitudes are very much "my kind of people." So I LOVED THIS. Beautiful daughter as well, condolences on the teething, that's a process.
Mr. Wrathbone 4BR Legendary Creature - Human Vice-Principal Menace When Mr. Wrathbone enters the battlefield, create Bentley, a legendary 2/2 colorless artifact Hound token. If you would lose control of a permanent named Bentley, Mr. Wrathbone loses its Vice-Principal type and becomes a Gas Station Attendant in addition to its other types. 4/4 "Your son or daughter has missed one or more classes today."
Graham, LoadingReadyRun basically started from your High School experiences, face it you're the only group that can tell stories from High School and never have it be irrelevant.
I absolutely love this! I used to be a big LRR fan back in like 2009 or so, but then life happened and I forgot about it all for like 8 years. I'm so thrilled that you and Kathleen are still together and that you have such a lovely family. Looking forward to catching up with everything I've missed and watching more of the great vlogs! :D
Graham! Saltspring is one of my favorite places in the world; I sailed up towards the island when I was 10, and it's still burned into my memory, especially the ferry back down through Victoria and the Empress Hotel. Thank you so much for Vlogging it and letting me relive my favorite trip ever.
Wow, watching the fields and the forest roll by is making me cry- especially Ganges harbor, and the great memories of me and my Grandfather fishing out there is making me so happy.
chosendark1 Some people probably have stolen some stuff, which is why there are web cams at some of the areas. But one of the reasons tourists like places like that is the isolated and trusting feel of the place. And are you really going to steal from people when you can't get away, all they have to do is give a picture to the cops and catch you when you try to leave.
+chosendark1 a) Trust in small communities is rewarded, even with a somewhat regular flow of outsiders and b) Their lack of spending any time or money running these stands allows them to take the occasional hit better. There is, of course, a point at which enough thievery would render the enterprise strictly unprofitable, but here it seems to have worked out.
It's such a strange feeling seeing these vlogs and your Japan trip vlogs popping up. I get such a sincere feeling of happiness for some reason. I feel like you guys could just upload videos of pretty much anything and I would still enjoy them just as much.
I feel a combination of curiosity and shame while "tagging along" on your personal lives like this...yet I'm not stopping, so it must be more of the curiosity in the end.
My experience with the Port Jefferson ferry from Long Island to Connecticut (about 30 miles?) is to agree: it feels like you've gone a lot farther when you have to use a boat to get there! I've never seen changing station liners stocked. We had our own changing pad that we put on the table, but it disappeared a few months ago (someone was having fun pulling everything out of the diaper bag at a restaurant!). I haven't gotten around to buying a new one yet, so we've just been doing our thing without protection since then!
I'm pleasantly surprised at the frequency of these vlogs! I'm enjoying the window into everyday G-Life. I have concerns, however, that we may eventually reach peak G-Vlog: Graham will be compulsively forced to videotape every waking second of his life for our entertainment/edification.
I am loving these vlogs. I have seen how some people improve in their skills at vlogging (including editing, compositins, choosing a topic) by making a vlog every day, or once a week, I think your skills are pretty well developed. ;) I am fine with these only happening when you did something you felt was particularly vlog-worthy.
I just love that you have the same travel Luck that I do and just run into random person from years ago. You are extra lucky to have footage of prank played on said person though.
Seeing the "BUZZ", "POP", "CRACKLE" cards made me burst out laughing. However, before you throw that mic out... The buzzing noises sound like RF interference from GSM signalling (the result of a flaw in the GSM spec). So the next time you shoot a vlog with that phone and mic, try turning off mobile data on the phone. ("WAT") Yes, use WiFi only for data, leaving GSM to do just voice and SMS text. Since the data radios will be off, my guess is that will cut down on interference.
added Salt Spring Island to my bucket list, thanks Graham! (also, love how I can tell that's TNG y'all are watching based on nothing other than the style of the cargo bay doors.)
I've been to Salt Spring before, but this video makes me really want to go back again. So beautiful! (Incidentally, being annoyed with but also stuck with tourists is also the fate my home town of Kelowna, BC is stuck with.)
Your tiny human is adorable, though it's sad that she's teething. Also, side note, kudos on your Mel Brooks box set. I noticed it in your closet and I have the same one. No surprised you have it and it's a must for any movie collection.
Teachers never forget! Or in the case of my junior high gym teacher, they forget how much the disliked you (and nearly failed you) but are SUPER excited when they hear your voice on the radio. All while they're driving past your town in a big rig, which is what they drive for living now, and decide to call you while your doing your radio shift. Weird teacher stories, ya!
I know you get this all the time, but Penelope is so freaking adorable! Such a gorgeous little lady! This trip makes me want to go to Vashon Island again. I wish our country could do honor system, but there are too many jerks around here.
Highly recommend the croissant from Lunn's (in Sidney). Oh, and Maria's Souvlaki (also in Sidney) makes one of the better doner/donair kebabs on the island. For future reference. We regularly make the pilgrimage from further up-island. Pity you didn't get the lamb from Sunset Farm. It's where we get ours. Best lamb in the area, far as I've tried so far. (marinated in lemon juice and garlic for 24+ hours, then slow cooked Mediterranean style covered in herbs, feta, and tomato, on a bed of potatoes and carrots)
driftwolf My friend, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Lunn's is no more, as they have closed due to the owners having numerous health challenges in recent years. Happily, Maria's Souvlaki is still there and running!
This was a fun one to watch. I just came back from my own Saltspring trip a week before you guys went, so the entire video was just "yep, yep, been there, yeah that place is cool etc." Totally agree about the drivers, total jerks.
I am enjoying these far more than I thought I would. I haven't watched any of the Japan ones yet - I think I'll have to do that. But I watched the other two today as well and I quite enjoyed! I do have a question - what, precisely, is attached to your phone? I'm rather curious about the equipment itself. :D
Dudes! Please continue doing these travel videos, they are amazing :) Because you are a couple with a pretty little girl (so 0 creepyness) and both of you are kinda nerdy (compliment) it feels very natural and familiar. Cheers!
You know what's hilarious about the liner thing? I work is upper management for a retail chain and every time I visit one of my stores I always have to get on the case of the restroom attendant because none of them ever fill those. Ever single store every visit.
Good on ye for driving responsibly on windy rural roads. Over here, we are sick of tourists driving *too quickly*. The only time driving slowly is dumb is when the limit it 60 MPH and the roads are very straight.
I would recommend looking into the Rode Videomicro with TRS to TRRS cable for audio. You would need a shoe mount to use it but it has worked better for me than the Mic Me.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, The Salt Spring Island Ferry is a very nice ferry, It's a very nice ferry, it's the Salt Spring Island Ferry. The Salt Spring Island Ferry is a very nice ferry, It's a very nice ferry, it's ferry to Salt Spring Island!
As a Florida man, I can relate to the people who are fed up with tourists. Still doesn't make any sense for either of us, but I can relate. I guess at least Volusia County (where I live) isn't quite as reliant on tourism as Salt Spring Island, I suppose.
All I can think of during your ferry trip is the ferry here Marine Atlantic. And as I never hear anything about BC Ferries which means they aren't as hated as Marine Atlantic's.
Also, their conversation about locals hating tourists despite the fact that they rely on their cash monies, %100 spot on. The eternal conundrum for locals in vacation towns.
