Shout out to Tor Frick, one of the founding devs and pretty much a legend in the 3D art community. This guy is famous for cracking out insane art ridiculously fast. When he was still working in AAA he actually tried applying for a second role in the same studio because he knew he could do the work of both jobs at once - true story. So awesome to see them absolutely smash it with their first game.
@@mrwhocares3931 He not only got an early copy but by "finished" he may mean the main story and not all the side quests. There's another RU-vidr with like 50+ hours or something too.
I just want to say thanks for putting your opinions in your review titles, For games like this I’m trying to go in blind and enjoy them, but want to get a general opinion without spoilers before watching full reviews.
@@titus17 Arma 3 has a warhammer 40k mod and it's pretty awesome...If you can find a Milsim group that actually uses the mod and makes missions for you.
I didn't expected the levels, design and details of this simply isometric shooter were so many and astonishing, it's really a pleasure for your eyes playing the Ascent, the map is so big and full of details, whoever designed this game should be immediately hired by bethesda to remaster Fallout 1 and 2
One neat trick is to buy it but play it on gamepass which rewards devs for time spent in a game I believe. If you’ve got a sub already you lose nothing they get paid more than if you just buy it
@@mr.mammuthusafricanavus8299 oh yeah! great game, cool story and the sound track was amazing. specially Susumu Hirasawa's (1997 Berserk's composer) song "Island Door" used in the hub area.
Got to say I love your reviews, just because you are so clear it is a personal opinion. People get to know your tastes and it feels so much more reliable than a number or star rating. Just mad I am at work and can't play this now. >:(
This comment made me reminisce about Total Biscuit. He always talked about how no one is objective and the whole point is for people to get to know you so they can gauge their reaction to a game based on yours. I miss him.
Me: Wow the lighting in this game with Ray-Tracing looks phenomenal even with youtube compression. Shill Up: Dx12 and thus Ray Tracing wasn't working. Me: OH... I mean... Yea I noticed that of course...
finished this game on the new xbox and was blown away of how beautiful this game plays out, on my second character and Mplayer is so much fun when it works
Thank you for the review. Picked it up on your recommendation and very impressed. The maps and world is simply breathtaking. I've never seen a game world look this good.
Could you grace us with a "Vermintide 2" review in preparation for "Dark Tide". The game is super fun, high skill ceiling and is dirt cheap. Would love to have your opinion on this. Keep up them good vids, cheers
@@ericharbour9254 Why would I want a very popular youtuber possibly making a great game more well known? Gee, I don't know. Maybe, because it's cool for more people to be aware of possibly cool games they wouldn't know about without Skill up.
I'm about 10 hours in, and I'm just taking my time doing the side missions because of how much fun I'm having, and also, the eye candy.. woah, the serious eye candy. The team that did the visuals really outdid themselves. The environment is so incredibly beautiful and detailed. The explorable areas are so sprawlingly expansive and yet so well done, with hardly any assets being reused repetitively from one area to the next. I can't imagine the time and effort taken to create such a well manicured environment. Gameplay and the music are good too. Amazing game. I hope the team builds on it going forward. Would love to see more.
Camera in the better God of Wars were like this and it felt epic. The new God Of War felt like a scaled down version of the old one but people were all over it for some reason
Right! I hated the new one. I missed the fast n Furious game play of the old ones where you felt like a god slayer. The new one felt more like the witcher.
Let me tell you the moment I fell in love with this game: I’m going through an area controlled by a local gang, and I have to clear it out so an extremely important meeting between corporate bosses can take place. I got my SMG, my plasma pistol in case of any robotic enemies or automated defenses, an augment that allows me to punch someone so hard, it makes it look like their soul left their body, and one that marks enemies in a small area around me, blowing them all up instantly after a certain time. Emphasis on that last one. So I’m going through, and I get cornered in a small shop. Enemies start pouring in and surrounding me so much, the melee enemies are having a hard time reaching me. It looks like I’m going to die. Then I remember my mark of death augment. I activate it, I wait a few panicked seconds, and suddenly everyone in the room goes Fist of the North Star, swelling up and exploding in a gory mess. All that was left was their skeletons, guts everywhere, and blood covering the room. God, I love this game.
One thing! Just one thing! Please tell IT to me: WHY tf do I have so many fans even though no RU-vidr is unprettier than I am? WORLDWIDE!!!! WHY??? Tell me, dear rip
A lot of these smaller titles have been absolutely shining lately; this, Death's Door, Omno, Psychonauts 2 dropping soon. Gamepass has really introduced me to some incredible games that I might not have checked out otherwise. The fact that I can play them all on PC too is great.
He better. Metacritic needs to be entirely discredited and thrown out as a measuring stick for devs and I hope Phil understands that by now. This is my favourite new IP in gaming in...probably 10+ years. I've been playing every moment I can for days - I just need more. Familiarity with other games due to being isometric aside, this is something completely new and unique when you play it yourself. There's so much room to build out loot systems/open world content/NPCs/etc here it's incredible, because the foundation is so damn solid. Blown away by this dev team.
The advantage of not having an upper management whose main goal is to make as much money as possible as quick as possible. Just imagine if CP2077 had got 1 or maybe even 2 more years in development before release.
This game was seriously deadly, as in awesome. The atmosphere of it was just top-notch Bladerunner/Judge Dredd vibes, loved every single minute of it. Also want to point out the soundtrack is incredible and really set the mood. It's done by Pawel Blaszczak who you may know from Dying Light and you can definitely hear similarities in the music of both games. Great review!
I love your videos bro. You put your thoughts together in such a beautiful way. I really enjoy your content bro. This game looks fantastic, and perfect for a couple of friends and I.
I was worried about whether this game could live up to the what people expected from it. You can't imagine how happy I was to see the title of the video. Granted, I haven't played it yet but I usually agree with your reviews. Can't wait to load this up with my friends!
Same but I’ll still get a PS5 first and then maybe a series S, hopefully this will be available on PlayStation at some point similar to cuphead and others
Game Pass has helped me discover alot of these smaller indie games. Over the pandemic I discovered so many of them, the Ori series being one of my favorites
@@fatbroccoli8 got me Xbox first and it’s best decision I’ve made. Gamepass is just pure gold. I always have something to play that’s fresh. Whether it’s new games or just great games with fps or graphic upgrades
I also found the navigation to need some work. We selected 1 side quest to track and I couldn't see any icon or navigation marks, but then as we moved a marker showed up, so we followed it only to find out this was the other side quest that wasn't active or selected. The side quests areas locked behind locked areas was also annoying and I had 3 crashes while playing or stuck on menus I couldn't exit. Aside from that I had a lot of fun playing it and will keep going. Pretty much the same positive comments you had were my experience too. Thanks for another great review!
I largely ignore the big review sites anymore. I have a selection of people (bloggers, content creators, podcasts, etc.) who tend to enjoy the same things i do, that i use for reviews when a game comes out. There actually seems to be a number of common themes about this game i keep seeing. It is apparently buggy, janky as hell in some cases, thin on some systems and has some stutter issues, etc. with the graphics. It is also apparently fun as hell to play. Not to mention gorgeous and with a nice soundtrack. I think i'm buying this one. I'd like to get it on console but i'm still trying for a Series X. If i don't get one in the next month or two, though, i'll just say screw it and buy it on steam. Cheers man :)
got this after watching this video, this looks awesome. Love your reviews btw whenever I'm hesitant on a game I check your channel for a review, keep up the good work!
I am glad that I found this channel some time ago, this and ACG are the channels I go to for game reviews. Used to be three, when AJS actually reviewed games.
This is the review I was looking for. I can't recall ever playing twin stick shooters but its on ps plus. The art style immediately caught my attention and I was hoping it wasn't shite.
@@MegaMerdeux do I need to play previous Wasteland games before Wasteland 3? I'm not familiar with the franchise but I heard it's a good game. So, I would like to try it out since it's on Game Pass.
@@chinsaka5346 playing previous Wasteland games will give you more insight into certain characters in Wasteland 3, but it isn't really necessary. The setting and story are drastically different from previous Wasteland titles, so it's a great starting point.
Love Skill Up's reviews! I played the game yesterday with buddies online. I used the series x and my buddies were on pc. I was really liking the game but there are a bunch of bugs and glitches! Audio bugs, spawn bugs, UI disappearing, crashes, and joining a game mid match doesn't work most of the time. Since we were on different systems, we encountered different bugs but it seemed like I had the most issues on the series x. I really hope this gets patched up quick since online coop is the main appeal for this game.
Excellent looking game. I only watched a few minutes if your review, but not down to quality or my appreciation of it, I just want to experience this game for myself. Also, adding the comment here for the algorithm. Keep up the good work.
This is why I love this channel: getting turned on to cool-looking games like this, which I probably wouldn’t have found otherwise. Keep the awesome reviews coming!
Came to check out your channel after I saw a major outlet say the game was too hard and gave it a 7 as a result. Thanks for the deep and engaging review! -Subscribed
I've just played for 3 hours straight on my day off and this game is addicting! The game and the world is absolutely gorgeous and full of eye candy everywhere you go. The audio, music, gun sounds etc are all so chunky and well produced too!
Game is amazing. It's very rare a game comes along anymore that just pulls me in like this one does. Also the big one that seems to be missing from so many games today, is that it's just fun! No politics, no social bs...just a straight forward fun game from beginning to end. Thank you to the developers and look forward to future projects! P.s. send CDPR your notes ,they need them so badly! 🤣💯
Just finished this game and yes, it is really this good. I knew this game was good when I realized I was doing all the side missions just cos they're fun, instead of beelining for the storyline. Also I found myself using a variety of weapons over the course of the game as I found more and found ones that suited my playstyle, none of that getting stuck with one thing or one mode of playing. This game is beautiful, exciting and most of all fun. Thank you game pass
Dude, you literally make the best reviews. I'm always so excited when you have a video out... for a game review!! I think thats crazy. Keep it up man 😁👍
12:27 So you are telling me, there is a race of alien as big as a truck, who talk mad shit but actually just sit around in a gym, lifting empty bars? AMAZING WOLDBUILDING, just like the real world! :O
You can actually press X to add weights, small things like this make immersion even better. I mean I just got the Hygene award for using a toilet and sink after each other haha
Just picked this up with the PS5 release and can confirm, very fun game with a lot of great things going on here. Unfortunately many/most of the negative issues are still apparent 7 months later with a few extra connectivity bugs while playing online co-op ie; one member of the party losing connection and dropping out at times. Probs still worth the $35 AUD though
Go for it, Microsoft Flight Simulator will blow you away, even on the S. It's graphically the most impressive next-gen game. I've both consoles spend a lot more time on my XSX due to gamepass. I use my PS5 for exclusives only.
@@teehundeart Based on the confidential leaks of MS documents during the Epic v Apple trial, this game seems to be an exception in being a permanent exclusive. We'll have to see if that's true.
@@teehundeart Have you seen the upcoming gamepass lineup? Forza 5, Psychonauts 2, Hades, Halo Infinite, Stalker 2, trust me you're missing out by not having both consoles.
Seen this review as soon as it came out, got myself Game Pass a few days later, which reminded me of the game because it's available on it, installed it today and boy, do I agree with the "strongly recommended" in the title. It's just fun and looks amazing.
@@matony19 there are a couple of missions that are unfortunately bugged, but for the Node, you have to advance the main mission enough to access it, that got me also.
I cannot wait to get into this later today. Planning on spending a LOT of time with this over the weekend. Glad to hear the man gives it a glowing review!
Seriously almost every game I been waiting on this year turnt out to be ass except this one. Here’s hoping the second half of games won’t be as worse as the first.
Except it does. It is beyond broken in coop and unplayable with game breaking bugs. It also screws up your single player save. We got 5 hours in and it broke. We have to restart.
It's silly though - almost every game in existence revolves around a core gameplay loop. The trick is to embellish it as you progress through the game.
^ this is why you diversify your game collection. If one game gets "too boring and repetitive" just cleanse your pallete with something and return to it later.
I've been eagerly awaiting this one - can't wait to play later today! Glad to see your comment on the Death's Door video about the exclusivity and that it isn't included here. Props!
So much fun and so pretty. It's insane how big some of the levels are and how many ai there can be. Why can't cyberpunk 2077 look this good, have this much ai, run this good, and be this optimized with a: -AAA budget -10x staff -7 years dev time
look at the crowd density, look at the graphics, look at the gameplay, of course this game is not perfect but it is a peek of what the Cyberpunk genre can become
maybe you missed the part in the vid about not activating Direct X 12, that it causes stability issue until it gets fixed. Or maybe it's you pc. Always easy to blame the game , not their own pc, like 90 % of the people did with cyberpunk
So happy to hear that. I was very sad to see when Housemarque released that post that said “**ARCADE IS DEAD**” and that they were forced to change from the arcade style games they were THE best at and loved making, in order to survive, because people weren’t buying them. They ended up making Returnal instead, which is my GOTY so far and so I’m glad they ended up doing that. But it’s great to see someone picking up that torch in the vein of Dead Nation, Alienation, Nex Machina, Matterfall, etc. and doing a total old-school isometric twin stick shooter justice. It looks fantastic and while I’ll have it due to GamePass, it sounds like it’s worth financially supporting the devs by buying the game too.
Exactly what I feel. I feel like I want to immerse myself in this world more. If they add matchmaking and looter elements to it to give the game replayability, that would be insane and I will see myself keep playing this game (I still really appreciate their crafted experience with the linear progression though)
