Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 in beloved by many. With no Hunger or sprint the game is at a much slower pace. A lot of people prefer this. So much so a group have created a dedicated Modpack that keeps that Beta feel, whilst adding new things that enhance the game. This Modpack is called "Better Than Adventure". And I'm going to Survive 100 Days in it. Here's what happened!

I Survived 100 Days in Hardcore Minecraft and here is what happened. Not Modded Minecraft. No Mods. Not Speedrunner Vs Hunter, More like Survivalist Vs Hunter but to the extreme. Skyblock, One Block, UHC/Ultrahardcore none of these. Just Hardcore Minecraft. Not 1.17 caves and cliffs update 1.16. Not Dream SMP or School SMP. Lifesteal SMP.

BTA isn't a modpack, it's a "fork" (development from) Beta 1.7.3 that's expanded upon by a singular development team consistently updating it with the intention to create something that's more like an alternate path of Minecraft development and its own game than a "modpack." BTA is standalone, it doesn't include a bunch of mods, it's just BTA.

Couldn't this cause problems for the team? Since this is the Minecraft Java source code (they just decompiled and obfuscated it), then in a way, it remains a mod

@@satoyz They also can't distribute (share) a compiled Minecraft.jar since that's against Minecraft's TOS & EULA, BTA hinges on MultiMC's ability to apply patches to the Minecraft.jar much like how Forge and Fabric have installers for the Default Minecraft Launcher. BTA is a mod that goes about it all fancy like. The way BTA is developed also makes it incompatible with every Beta 1.7.3 mod that ever exists due to the extensive changes they've made to the game, so mods have to *specifically* be built for BTA.

Better Than Adventure isn't a modpack, it's a mod kinda like how Divine RPG is a mod and not a modpack despite the large amount of content it adds to the game. Also the Trommel can extract a variety of materials including Raw Iron Ore from blocks like gravel which would have helped a lot in getting Iron for the On a Rail achivement

@@elechain2441 If you put a chest on the side of the Trommel that spews out it's output items it instantly puts those items into the chest.

Hey! If you end up doing 200 days, here’s some tips: The trommels are VERY useful. If you put enough sand and gravel in their, you can get gold and iron! Along with clay, pebbles (for decoration), flint, and some other goodies!

Also you can make paths with a shovel just by hitting dirt, and you can rocket jump with the hand canon! (If you crouch you take less damage)

You can also throw pebbles at mobs like snowballs but they do 1 damage

Gold tools have the silk touch effect in this mod, you can get ice that way too

Trommels are super useful because they're the only constant source of olivine and quartz, which you need to make tinted glass & lamps

this version DOES have silk touch. just like how diamond tools have efficiency and steel tools have unbreaking, silk touch is exclusive to gold tools

Imagine if this form of the game was able to accessed from the modern minecraft game through some form of portal. It would be so vanilla-like and I believe would mesh really well with the base game. Having certain items and blocks be transformed or straight up destroyed upon travel would also limit the colonization of either world from another

Minecraft starts at day 0 because it is set like a timer, you haven't survived the full 15 minute yet. Again, its like a timer, as the time won't start at hour 1, it starts at 0:00.0, then progresses to 1:00.0, first hour. I really hope you understand what I'm saying

Cause it was the first step minecraft took towards becoming the RPG style gameplay it is today. People who hate it including myself prefer the older versions cause it lacks the meta modern minecraft has

Stopping every few minutes to eat doesn't make the game any harder. If anything, it's just more annoying. I don't hate the hunger mechanic, but older minecraft is way harder in the aspect that food takes up entire inventory slots, making it difficult to optimize one's inventory just to ensure more survivability. I also feel cool when i quick eat and get back into the game lmao

What version of Java were you using? I typically run beta 1.7 and derivatives with Java 8, as I’ve had issues trying to run those versions on 11+ in the past, but if there’s a legitimate reason not to, that’d be great to know.

I believe the nostalgia purests of Minecraft are absolutely ridiculous. People really say that having a food bar to manage is "Too much" or "annoying". At that point just take away the health bar. Better yet remove equipment because its "Too rpgy". Better yet just play block game instead of Minecraft. I enjoy BTA and old Minecraft and I rag on modern minecrafts horrible decisions but I will never be such a purest so resistant to change.

Will this mod be available for Bedrock? Cause this is a very cool mod, I especially like how they assigned enchantment effects to certain materials and gave zombies cloth which really plays well into the Fantasy theme of the game.

If someone ports some of the features with datapacks possibly, but because Bedrock doesn't allow you to downgrade versions most of the effort would be removing features. BTA does have great controller support if you play it on Java

@@elechain2441The process is the same as vanilla Minecraft, which there are tons of great guides for. You can also use the same computer to run the server as you use to play the game since old Minecraft doesn't use as much ram.

This version still runs true single player. In 1.3 Mojang switched single player to run on an internal server in order to simplify development which made singleplayer jankier and laggier, but because BTA is from beta 1.7.3 single player is more crisp and responsive than modern Minecraft

5 minutes passed and nothing happend. Please, if you want to make an entertaining video, keep some things in mind: -You really don't need to talk about your past attempts -i seriously don't care about the obstacles you had with running the mod -You don't need to explain the old mechanics. I can watch other videos on that. I was here to see someone play with the better adventures mod, to get a feel for the mod. -Also maybe just skip through 20 days of mining.

You can confirm through his twitch vods, and his day timer on the top right passes by normally. You can pass time quickly through beds anyway, so it's not unrealistic at all
