I survived a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage this year

Hi my name is JP Amolat I'm just a normal guy living in Boston. I'm like the rest of the 99% who's had their life struggles trying to figure out life and make the most of it. I had a brain hemorrhage Jan 3 of this year (2011) and I was in a coma for three months. I woke up paralyzed, confused, had amnesia. I had this condition called subarachnoid hemorrhage. According to wiki SAH is a form of stroke and comprises 1--7% of all strokes. It is a medical emergency and can lead to death or severe disability-even when recognized and treated at an early stage.
I feel very fortunate to have been given a second chance in living my life. I dedicate this video for all the people in hospitals and their families fighting to live and for all of our courageous men and women in the armed forces who put their lives on the line every single day especially the ones who became disabled. My best friend is currently serving as an army officer in Kabul, Afghanistan and its people like him where I draw courage from. I had my own internal war this year - fighting to stay alive, fighting to survive and walk again, fighting to get my life back on track. So far I have won this battle. I'm slowly trying to pick up the pieces where I left off. I'm almost back to normal. I still don't have sensation on my feet and have this condition called neuropathy which is this annoying odd tingling sensation. I'm currently receiving acupuncture treatment for it and hopefully it will help.
It's hard to stay positive and hopeful especially when you're in a really bad situation. I was paralyzed and couldn't move my body but all I could think of was someday I'd walk again, drive again, dance again. I had to fight my own inner demons because sometimes I truly think you can be your own worst enemy. Right now, I feel the happiest Ive ever been for being alive and being the type A personality and entrepreneur that I am, I learned to slow down and smell the roses. Cuz I realized, life is really too short, too precious to take for granted and waste away. I could have died and I did for 15 seconds and I came back a new person. I didn't know it then that when I went to bed that one evening after new years my life would be forever changed. I made this video in hopes that if I could even touch one soul out there and lift his spirits up, my surviving and life story could become instrumental in helping them in my own little way.
Happy Holidays!

I feel you! I went through the same thing as you , and it’s been so hard for me to accept that it had to happen to me :( but thankfully I’m here 💯🙌🏻 I had my subarachnoid hemorrhage 2 years ago

I hope you're feeling better and grateful that you are alive because sometimes even reminding ourselves that we are still here is enough to keep us going. There were times that I wasn't getting better and was getting frustrated with all the limitations I have. But with time you just eventually accept them and it does get better

Thanks for making this video. I am just over a month into my stroke recovery. I also was rushed in an ambulance to Beth Israel, and fortunately was not in a coma. I am currently in a rehab so I can learn how to take care of myself before being released. It gives me comfort to see you doing so well. My recovery has been much better than the doctors initially thought it would be. They actually told my adult sons that they should prepare themselves that I would never be "me" again, but I am! So grateful for my recovery so far. I never imagined this would happen to me.

Western medication forever can't effectively treated and cured SAH. Only God's mercy nano-medication should be the last-ditch treatment for SAH. Why? 1. If endogenous neural stem cells (NSCs) can't be triggered for regeneration 2. Clogged blood vessels can't be reversed and restored its elasticity, flexibility and plasticity ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uj_zgxl68PA.html It's impossible to cure SAH. Alas, 1. & 2 can't be solved by western medication forever. All glory belongs to God !

Thank you. And I know for a fact that especially right now it must be very hard for your aunt and your family but with time, the body heals although very slowly at times. I would suggest to just be very patient and then when she gets out of the hospital to do all the therapy that she can and even do acupuncture because that has helped me immensely what physical therapy and others couldn't do. My foot drop and my limp although did not disappear diminish quite a bit and really help gain my strength and my nerves regenerate.
@jpamolat
@jpamolat 2 года назад
Please stay strong and be hopeful that your aunt will recover. At this time it's probably hard to see that but the body heals very slowly and it just takes time. I will suggest that when she does get out of the hospital to give her all the time that she needs and to get her on a schedule for therapy as well as acupuncture that might help her recover faster

Thank you for sharing your story! My Mom, too, survived a left frontal lobe subarchnoid hemorrhage a year and a half ago, at 76. Just today, I was telling her that she needs to share HER story, too, because it's so encouraging when one SAH survivor can hear other SAH survivor's story, and inspiring journey of recovery. Yours is one of those! She went from ICU for 18 days, to Rehab & Nursing homes for 6 months, during which time she couldn't walk, talk, and was being fed via a PEG tube (for 3 months). She started walking a week after coming home. As the doctors warned us, her recovery has been a marathon, not a sprint and she still struggles with memory (NO dementia/excellent health prior to SAH), and some speech issues, but given the big picture, she's come such a long way - and is still showing improvement. I hope you are doing well, would love an update how your doing, today! Take care

I'm a stroke survivor too. Mine happened when I was a baby, so I don't really remember anything. I was paralyzed on my right side, and I wasn't able to eat properly. Somehow they were able to fix it, and now the only things I remember from those times are the physical therapy sessions I had to help me be able to crawl/walk/flat out move my right side. I'm really glad you made it through too. :)

Hi JP, My name is Brenda and i am 46 years old. I to had a Subarachnoid Hemorrhage on July 2, 2012. Woke up with the worst headache of my life. My son called 911 they took me to the closest hospital and just like you after doing a CT scan they told me they couldn't handle this kind of trauma. I was taken to a Trauma Hospital that was about 40 minutes away. When i got there the doctors said that i was already (dying) on my way out. They took me to surgery right away. I spend 1 month in ICU. I have the thank God for giving me a second chance at life again so i can be here with my 4 children. We are sooooo blessed to be here. Thanks for sharing your story and i wish you all the best and good health.

JP, I am so happy for you, that you were able to recover so remarkably well from such a difficult health crisis. My mom had brain tumor removal 20 days ago and during the surgery she suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. She is talking but gets confused, is somewhat moving left side of her body, but her right side is not moving much except her hand barely. She can eat, read and remembers a lot of things, but cannot sit without being supported. Standing or walking appear to be long shot at this time. Your survivor story gives me hope that it is possible my mom will recover from this and will be mostly herself once again. I am praying every day, and every day when I go to visit her in the nursing rehab center I get anxiety attacks. My soul is paralyzed from fear and I cannot imagine what my mom must be going through. Thank you so much for this video, I pray that you continue your life healthy and happy, and that your story will continue to give hope to people all over the world. God bless!

Hi JP, I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting hope back into my heart, when I thought that I lost it. I have a best friend whose in a coma right now suffering from a subarachnoid hemorrhagic stroke. It's been a week now, and every day only feels harder and harder. The doctors don't seem to be to encouraging and walking into his room in the ICU every day seems to deliver no answers. I know it takes time, but it never makes it hurt any less. It's' been a week and 4 days but it feels like forever that he's been in a coma. Your video brought tears to my eyes, not only because of sadness but because you pulled through and I truly believe that is a miracle. It makes me hope that my best friend can come back to us and work to be strong again like you. Thank you JP , you're inspiring for sure.

Hi JP, I survived a Grade 1 subarachnoid brain hemorrhage in 2008 and I think you are amazing, I had a spiritual experience which helped me get through. I spent two weeks at home after my first lot of surgery and then went back to work, I am a strong believer in fighting. Would love to chat with you further about my experience if you are interested, think it would be great for both of us.

Thanks for sharing your story, JP. 💞 So glad you made it through. I'm fresh out of the ICU for the same reason. Words can't really fully describe the experience. So much of it still seems so surreal. And most of it is lost. But I think our bodies remember even if our brains don't. I keep spontaneously bursting into tears. Not sure why. It changed me. I'm sure it did you as well. Mostly, I'm left with a huge sense of gratitude. I'm sooo glad you recovered. I think we're in a special club now. There's got to be a reason for it.

Hi jp, thanks for the video. I had my subarachnoid December 2014, following a sneeze. Month in coma, even fell out of high dependency unit bed in urgent care ward. Attended a out patient appointment in the March 2015 and my consultant was so worried when he saw me he re-admitted me and said I had had another bleed. Had a shunt behind right ear which got infected and so was repositioned behind the left ear. Six hospital admittance in six months, really got to the stage where I thought I wasn't going to make it. 29 months on life is getting good again, re-introduced myself to sport again. Spread your message, thanks for giving hope, it's not just the patients that benefit, it's the loved ones as well. John

I'm so happy to hear that you're getting through this. I swear, it's inspirational. I wish you lots of luck! Also, my dad had a stroke because of a subarachnoid hemorrhage ten years ago but he's nowhere near as good as you are right now. What are we doing wrong? I fear that we're all just forgetting it and we all just accepted him being like that forever. He has a tube on the left side of his head. Is that supposed to be replaced or removed after a certain amount of time ? We couldn't afford the therapies after a certain amount of time so he limps and can't move his left arm. When he talks he repeats things or he simply can't keep a conversation going, like I'll be serious about something and he'll ask what time it is. I'm sixteen and I need to know how I can help him.. Please if you have any advise, I'd appreciate it

Youre very welcome. Im glad you found my video. Just hang in there. Pray and hope. Never give up. I was in a coma for almost 4 months so when you think all hope is lost that's when the miracle happens. Don't give up on your girlfriend. She's there. Fighting. She'll be back just like me.

JP Amolat Hi Wayne, Hi JP Amolat. My name is Alfred, I'm 27, I'm from France. I'm an ex very hard 14 years-long pot head smoker. The first time I had this kind of very weird headache, it was 5 years ago, after a night when I had really abused cannabis. I continued smoking until I had to stop because of the horrible stiiff neck + pulsing headache. It went by. I sadly switched to very heavy alcool drinking to compensate. Episodic but hardcore. At first, hang-overs were perfectly fine. Now each time I get drunk, 2 days after I feel like I'm literaly going to die. It pulses in my head like crazy which freaks me out so much that it raises my BP even higher. It lasts all day and slowly diminishes to the "normal" "regular" stiff neck. Everyday since 1 or 2 years, I have had these symptoms of stiff neck. I know if anything bad happens to me, it will be a Subarachnoid Stroke. It's been 10 days since I became vegan, I also quitted cigarettes 10 days ago. And I do about 20min of high intensity cardio everyday. I still have the stiff neck symptom of course, and it even gets worse just after my sport but I feel like it's the only way for me to lower my BP. I did an IR scan, they found nothing. No aneurysm. Nothing. But I, myself, know that something vascular in my head is wrong. When I turn my head either to the right or to the left, I can hear something inside. I really don't know what to do. I feel like I really harmed myself in an irreversible way. Does any of you have something to tell me, I don't know.. anything, even if it's not very optimistic, I prefer your honest thoughts. I really freak out... Good luck to you guys, all my best thoughts go to you. Alfred.

Hi Alfred I'm sorry to hear that you're still having headaches and stiffnecked. All I can say is by changing your diet is the first step and then exercising regularly should also help . I tried acupuncture and it really helped me a lot with my headaches and neuropathy on my feet I highly recommend it if you can go to acupuncture at least twice a week. What medicines couldn't cure for me and physical therapy acupuncture did. So far that's the only thing that I can think of that might help. Continue to have CT scans regularly and monitor your BP. My SAH came very suddenly but I also had symptoms that I mostly ignored. Looking back I could have started taking meds then to control my BP and maybe you should start taking them as a preventative measure. Best of luck to you ! JP

JP Amolat Thank you infinitely for your message. So you think that -vegan diet -exercise -blood pressure medecines -regular CT scans never a single drop of alcool again and it should be fine ? Anyway, thanks a lot, you really opened my eyes (actually I first saw your videos about 2 weeks ago : YOU made me a reality check. I'm grateful to you for that. I hope the best for you sincerely. Trust me I imagine how hard this period of your life must have been. And I assume that you 're still emotionally/psychologically shocked/weakened. Honestly, no stranger that you'd meet would imagine that you had a brain hemmorage ad that a one point you had to relearn the english language. Seriously, my best hope is for you -to get rid of the long term effects physical and psychological effects of that trauma -find a tender, sensible, intelligent and loving boyfriend, sweet and kind, one that will deeply fall in love with you -to be able to forget that nightmare period as possible as it be, to live a meaningful life with children and love. I suscribe to your channel so we can chat when you want, and exchange our progress. ALL THE BEST JP Alfred

Hi JP, very moving video. My heart goes out to you. I too suffered a Sub Arachnoid Haemorrhage back in 1994, which was repaired by clipping. My recovery took about 8 months, but 2 years later I started having more headaches, it baffled the doctors. Although in 1999 after nearly 3 years of head aches, they discovered an Anuersym in my brain and it was coiled. 4 years later I started having 'Thunderclap headaches' which I still suffer to this day. Recovery IS hard, even harder is living with the repercussions of surgery. Live each day for what it is, a gift. Loving your hat, is that a fishing rod on there? Tight lines my friend! Wayne.

Hello Wayne You are absolutely right. Everyday is a gift especially for us survivors. How do you deal with your headaches? Do you take any more medications? I fortunately don't have these thunderclap headaches any longer but I'm still having high BP all the time. I am undergoing another surgery in 2 weeks for a tumor in my adrenal glands which they are attributing to be the cause of my SAH. Thanks for your note. I'm glad it reached you and touched you in some way. That's all I could hope for when I created that video. Best of luck JP

Although I have suffered from migraines my entire adult life and usually ended up in the ER once a year because of them, I didn’t have much of a headache when my aneurysm ruptured. I had a bad cold, blew my nose and felt like a lightning bolt hit the top of my head and traveled down my spine. I had no idea what that was, but I knew it was something bad. My symptoms were a painful stiff neck and vomiting. So if something doesn’t feel right, just go to the ER and get it checked out.

I suffered an intracranial hemorrhage in 2006 after severe head trauma. Symptoms included a piercing headache and vomitting. I called 911 and shortly slipped into a coma. I was rushed to the nearest hospital where the neurosurgeon team was finishing up on a patient. After an MRI they opened up my skull and relieved the pressure. I eventually came out of my coma and was released from the hospital after two weeks. God bless you and others who've survived this life threatening ordeal.

I fear this type of thing happening to me every day :(. Mainly because, since I was young, I have always had weird brain/head related symptoms. Chronic headaches... ice pick headaches (which we thought was cluster headaches for YEARS), etc. I've always felt like eventually one of these days I am going to have a stroke/hemorrhage, or aneurysm. I am terrified of it.

Wow. I'm so glad to hear you got through it. I've had similar scary feelings after I blow my nose. Sounds silly, but it brought in an extreme headache. If you don't mind me asking, what was the actual cause of your SAH? I know that most are caused by an aneurysm, but they can also be caused by trama and other things. I know you probably don't remember most of what happened, but what do you remember? And what symptoms did you ignore? I heard you say you had a "slight" headache. I've heard most patients with this phenomenon have a more severe headache, so I'm curious. Thanks, and I'm glad to hear you got through this!!

Hi JP, Thank you for posting this video it gave me lots of hope for my Dad. I am sitting in the ICU for 27 days today. He open his eyes 7 days ago, that is the day I had seen your video, when I was looking for some answers because my Dad was off the seduction for 3 days but no movements and did not open his eyes. I so have lot of questions but do not know how to contact you in private and convenient and if you have time. I will not bother you much. Just few questions.Like what Grade of SAH Again

I suffered a subarachnoid hemorage Sept. 2011, I remember opening the door and I think I cried out, Next thing I remembered was waking up in the Hospital Tiger my companion, and best friend (Rescued from the APL) I discovered had saved my life. While I was unconscious he had went to the neighbors Apt. scratched on her door and when she answered, he ran back to me and she followed him. I was one of the lucky ones, I recovered without any bad side effects ... Here's to us survivors, Life Goes On!

Watching this video coz I wanted to educate myself on SAH. Was pleasantly surprised when you mentioned you were from the Philippines.... mabuhay ka kabayan! Unfortunately, the reason for my interest on SAH is due to the sudden death of Isabel Granada, a former actress from the Philippines. Sad to say though that she just passed away a few hours ago from complications due to SAH. Oct 28, 2017 was when she was rushed to the hospital. May God bless her soul and may she rest in peace. To you sir, may you enjoy the rest of your life and the renewed perspective you have due to your experience. I wish you all the best.
