This was a fantastic, heartfelt video. That was a perfect glimpse into what it would be like to live in an isolated area and maintain a lighthouse. I don’t think of it as a lonely job, but rather a very fortunate opportunity to be able to take in all that beauty and still be able to connect with the mainland as she does. Well done.

This was so motivating. I love when Elena said, "How can I be lonely when I'm living my dream?" It is so easy to fall into a deep dark hole these days... and she reminds me to live my dream to the fullest extent.
I love that he went there and actually worked hard. He shoveled 300 steps and enjoyed it and took pride in it. I can’t think of very many RU-vidrs that would go there and actually get immersed in the work.
As an introvert who spends around 6 months a year alone in the forrest, I can confidently say I've never even thought about lonelyness when I'm out. It's all about meaning and purpose really.
Nature is healing. It's the separation from Nature that we then begin to feel a sense of loss, and from that, loneliness. Nature is constantly conversing, it's simply up to us to listen.

It's really sad how Elena is being labeled by others as "insane" for living her dream life. Thank you for showing this side of her. At the end of the day, we as humans have pretty short lives. We might as well make the best out of them. Therefore, living the way we want to, despite being different from the "social norm", shouldn't be looked down upon at all. Great video and great message.
Wow man, this is really cool. I'm very glad you got to see the northern lights, and wow, learning about this really makes you appreciate what you have. If it weren't for the cold and loneliness, I'd gladly try a job like that. Something like that, and the fact that Elena was willing to do it and found a part of herself through it, that's something special. Also, I realize that she's been doing this pretty much as long as I've been alive. That is crazy for me to think about. Keep opening up our eyes, Ryan. Great job documenting this trip. You should go back every year. No reason to say, "a place I'll never come back too". Very clean for all ages, and shows that hard work is worth it, especially when you're doing it for others.
I actually volunteered at Elena an Frode‘s for seven weeks until mid November. I lived in the boathouse visible at 6:00 in the background. Although this Video is a bit romanticised, it captured the essence of what life on the island is about very well. I am extremely grateful for the experiences I got to make there.
i clicked this video expecting to watch the normal goofy, yet wonderful content. Which I did, but seeing you admire a women's compassion for living her dream that everyone thinks is crazy, and the end where you saw the northern lights, really got me emotional. Great job Ryan:)
Elena is so beautiful. Slow living is no easy task. It’s amazing Ryan was able to show us what she has to do everyday to survive up there. Most of us couldn’t do that. We’ve gotten too comfortable with everything being fast and immediate for us. But Elena shows with slow moving you can be just as happy. It all comes down to a certain mindset. And what a gift to be able to see the Northern Lights before he left. I’ve heard that to be the Throne Of God. 😊

Ryan is literally my fave yt, and here is 5 reasons why. 1. He is funny 2. He is not afraid to be himself 3. It's been a while since I watched a lot of your videos, but I have to say that I'm blown away by this one. The way you can mix comedic edits and awkwardness with such an amazing way of storytelling and experience is mindblowing to me. This video, and Elena's story, have actually made me think about some parts of the way I live; taking a break from everything you feel the need to do, as she said. Thank you for this experience.
