I got a flip phone and a pocket sized e-reader (Boox Palma) to add to my everyday carry. I think these devices will be helpful in my journey towards digital minimalism and a healthy, productive lifestyle.

I actually switched to the 'Sunbeam F1' Horizon phone a few days later which is a bit cheaper and lighter.

this is my dream, i have a folder 2 samsung and while its more of a smart-fliphone, im 20, im gonna be social and all that. i want to have a flip phone, a boox, i have a 6th gen ipod classic, i want a good camera and all & convince my gf to do it with me, live the retro life

I also have a Sunbeam phone - i love it!! Mostly because i can still group text family! It does all I want - talk and text. Best phone ever!

Mind you, I'd replace my iPhone 12 with something like a Nokia 2780 if I switched to a "feature phone." Reason: you want a "feature phone" that supports Voice over LTE (VoLTE), given that many cellphone carriers are starting to shut down 2G (and sometimes 3G) digital cellular service in favor of 4G LTE and 5G digital cellular; older phones often don't support these new standards, and that could make the phone essentially useless.

Soon!! I haven’t mailed out my iPhone. I have 21 days w backmarket to ship but next week I’m ordering and sending my phone out once I transfer all my photos and notes haha. I’m ordering the sharp aquos or galaxy folder 2 & have given everyone a heads up so already :)

Thank you❤. yea thats a more important part than some people realize! It definitely has an affect on mental health. I'll try to do a 30 day update. its been about 2 weeks so far and im still loving my phone 😊

Thank you for speaking so openly about this very important topic. I think it's such a problem that we accustomed to search for happiness in external stimuli that we never find and is just destroying us. We will only find real joy by embracing life/nature and having real interactions with other people. I'm planning to get this exact same flip phone and am really looking forward to it.

My thing is. Why pay and own for a 1200 phone if you’re just going to delete all the apps and use it as a dumb phone??? Mind as well just use a flip phone! Great video

Great video, the distraction part hits close to home. Its so easy to get trapped in the smartphone rabbit hole of mindless scrolling and FOMO. Are you still using this combo?

Thanks im glad the video resonated with you. Yea i almost didnt realized how much time I used to spend scrolling but without it I have much more free time. I'm still using this combo.I plan to do a 30 or 60 day update video!

Hi! I'm so happy to see another Black girl doing this. If you completely got rid of your old phone, what did you do it with? I think I want to ditch my iPhone for a flip phone also but I'm not 100% sure how to go about it. Were you able to transfer your number or did you tell all the contacts in your old phone the new number? I've had social media deleted for a long time so I think the transition will be smooth but I'm mainly going to miss Spotify. I guess I'll still have my computer though. Thank you

Hi!!! thanks for watching :)). I did completely get rid of my iPhone. I use this flip phone and also I have an e-reader that runs on android that I use to listen to music on Spotify. Its called the Boox Nova 3 . I was able to transfer my number. I think there is a way to transfer contacts but I just did it manually because there was alot of numbers in my iPhone that I no longer used. I hope you enjoy your experience with a flip phone. Its been over 3 months and I'm still loving it.

Yes I'm still using the flip phone. I'm hoping to do an update at the 2 month mark. Its been about a month so far and I'm loving it!

But how did you do it from the iPhone? Do you just switch the sim?

Yes. I just switched the sim and then called my cell phone provider to change my data plan. I wasn't receiving messages from iPhones to my flip phone at first but I just had to go into settings and turn off imessage before removing the sim.
