During finals week, I used to buckle down and study nonstop, which meant I turned to the most convenient meal options possible--fast food. But whenever I eat fast food, I feel gross. So it got me thinking, does fast food have any impact on my studying and productivity? I decided to experiment for myself to see what a 30-day fast food challenge would do to me.
🙏 Thanks for watching!

Eating like that when you are in your 20s is COMPLETELY different than eating lots of junk in your 50s. In your 50s, all the excesses of youth catch up, decades of toxins built up. In your 50s, you must eat healthy or you’ll end up crippled by cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. In your 20s, a person can eat junk all day, smoke & do drugs. But in your 50s, such behavior must stop or you will end up crippled by sickness.
@coronavirusisacommunistchi845
As you age, the body isn’t superhero strong, so older folks just can’t eat donuts all day. Lots of RU-vid video with young men experimenting with insanely toxic diets. Don’t take your health and youth for granted. 20s bodies and minds need proteins & fats to grow. A super healthy anti heart disease, anti cancer and anti diabetes diet should start in a person’s 30s.

There were a lot of links between increased weight and asthma. And theres the obvious self esteem issues that affect their success. A huge issue is the food provided to schools being pretty much prison food. The government has been able to claim French fries and pizza as enough vegetable servings because of the tomato sauce in pizza. Come on. 5:17 It being liquid plays a huge part, I am diabetic and cannot drink sugary sodas as it digests too quickly for insulin to react in time. If I wish to drink something with sugar it must be with a full meal as it delays the digestion of the soda. Also, foods high in fat also make the body more resistant to insulin, so the fats in fast food can cause a problem the same way hence why 2 meals that contain the same carbs, burger vs rice can be processed so differently, as the liver has to also process the fats, this especially affects foods like pizza as it is high in carb and fat. This is actually known as the 'pizza effect' and makes it a very bad food for productivity (and diabetics :)) as it puts you straight into that food coma.
@GingerSpiritSmurf
@GingerSpiritSmurf Год назад
This is really cool to know, I didn’t know about the difference between a burger vs rice for example. I kind of had a preconception that both (since they’re carb) would cause an equal spike (if consumed in the same amounts) so that was really cool to read. You broke it down really well.
@esmee6308
@esmee6308 Год назад
@@GingerSpiritSmurf My parents struggle a lot with pizza because it's so unpredictable. Even with the glucose bluetooth meter in their arms providing a graph of their bloodsugar and my mum's ability to have high control over how and when insulin enters her body through an insulin pump, they cannot get pizza down since the spikes appear so random. Which always kind of baffled me since you'd think there's be some consistency in it, even if at first it doesn't act like you expect. They'll occasionally opt to have pizza nowadays but for years my mum refused though my stepdad loves it.

I've been on a fast food diet for 6 months. I've lost 75lbs. Each week I pick a restaurant and every day is 1500 calories from that restaurant for the week. I take a daily vitamin, and one day a week I will make some chicken and a salad. That is my "cheat meal". My favorite restaurants are taco bell, domino's, and chik-filet. Pizza weeks are my favorite, as one $8 pizza is enough for two days worth of calories just about. It's actually not that expensive because I haven't bought any groceries in half a year.

Your biggest problem was quantity of food, though. For me, a 1/8 slice of a large pizza with veggie toppings works fine as a small meal. So I just wrap up the rest of the slices individually for the freezer. They warm up great on a little baking stone in the convection oven and last for ages in their frozen cocoon. First I had to convince myself that my brother, who once traumatized me by taking a rare piece of pizzeria pizza from my plate, was hundreds of miles away and not able to come in and steal my pizza. But slow eating helps also, which had been impossible in childhood either for time constraints or greedy brother who ate three times faster than everybody else and inhaled any potential seconds. My bet is that you ate your home cooked meals more slowly and in lesser quantities. The volume differences can be deceptive since fast food tends to be very dense regarding various macros and calories so the meals might look of similar volume when they aren’t really comparable. So you really need to use a food tracker to check differences in macros and calories for the different types of home cooked and fast food meals.

Maybe in the morning, because delaying breakfast can increase some people’s focus in the early half of the day. I didn’t usually eat breakfast until 11:30 am when I was studying away in college.

you cant just look at the glucose, you also have to take in consideration the additional ion concentration created after a breakdown which have to do with how everything communicates

could have compared the fast food and healthy meal by making the macros and calorie count nearly identical because that has so much more of an effect on glucose than whether or not the food was made in a restaurant or your house

Something I want to point out is that fats on their own don't tend to affect blood sugar very much, however pairing fats with decent amounts of sugar will take the spike caused by the sugar and prolong it. This is why the pizza was your worst meal. The glucose from the dough and sauce spiked your blood sugar while the grease made it last much longer. This is why many insulin pumps for Diabetics have settings where insulin can be given at a much slower rate over a longer period of time. The functions were specifically made for foods like pizza.

I wonder how your skin felt during/after this experiment? I was on the road for couple days and we only had fast food. My skin's oil production went thru the roof (I'm female), the texture, the blemishes all were out of control. I cared for my skin the same way as i did before the trip, so I solely blamed the food.
@lulu486
@lulu486 Год назад
Same! For some reason big fast food restaurants like mcDonalds or KFC make my skin so oily, even tho I have dry to normal skin. I really wonder how that works
@Aristaifly

@@lulu486 well, there is no nutrients in the fast food meals and the oil it's been fried in has been used soooo many times that there is overall nothing good in it. Except taste (thanks to added chemicals) and crisp.

Kind of off topic, but not really, especially for broke college students, food banks and pantries are always available. It might not be the most delicious, but it can help with that empty feeling in your stomach. For example, one time they gave me a small watermelon, peaches, cabbage, cauliflower, and peach cans. If you don't have anywhere to cook, you can at least eat the peaches, and the peach in the peach cans, you can probably and hopefully afford to buy cottage cheese and combine. We all seem to be broke the last 2 weeks of the semester.

For the 9:50 about eating slower, I agree pretty much. However, I believe for my experience (not science) that eating slower helps you to digest food and actually feel full faster, therefore eating less. Like throwing everything in super fast and it has not digest and absorb so it is still not getting the "full" message but slowly will at the right time

If I were doing This experiment I’d just be going back and forth from chipotle (vegetarian burrito bowl or burrito)Taco Bell (black bean crunch wrap, bean burritos, any of the veggie options) subway (veggie sandwich or wrap) and maybe Carl’s Jr. every once in a awhile for their impossible burger. I think there is a way to eat fast food and be healthier than the choices that were shown in this video. Always go for the vegetarian option in my opinion 🖤 But I did enjoy this video! Great work!

I will watch this tomorrow but i want to say something because many people always seem to claim they eat “healthy” but the food they mention is obviously not.. Cereal (any type, even Special K or chocolate-free granola), cereal/fibre bars, fruit yoghurts, cheese, store-bought fruit juice and ice tea, and protein bars are not healthy at all. I get a bit fed up seeing people complain that they eat healthy and and aren’t losing weight/clearing acne, and when asked they proudly say they had pasta salad with tomato sauce for lunch, cereal for breakfast, and a mcdonalds salad for dinner.

I usually eat home cooked meals and I’ll get fast food 3/4 times in a month. Fast food gets sickening after the 3rd day in a row. but when it comes to homecooked food, I won’t get sick of it even if I make l the same thing every day for a week. I noticed after changing my diet my palate completely changed as well especially with sugar.

I feel like this experiment should have included a third meal, the average american homecooked meal. I think cooking healthy meals is the optimum cooked meal, but lets be real, some homecooked meals aren't healthy, probably most arent. I feel like there should be an experiment of average homecooked meal versus take out. At least that gives people who eat takeout all the time the stepping stone towards better homecooked meals.
