Thank for trying new things and pushing the limits of this hobby. This hobby needs more open people, too many "there is only one way" people that hate change lol.
100% my friend. And I have put out my own sensors on this. It is seemingly primarily young men. Then there is a matter of their personal philosophies (such as they are) not aligning with ours. It is difficult to remember that only a small number of us are creative minded hobbyists and for us the minutiae and experimentation makes it mindful. Others just wanna fly like a bug. I have trouble getting past that.
Try the DJi Pocket2 handheld "vlogger gimbal" - from what I understand it's the exact same camera and gimbal as on the Mini2 drone, but without the drone obviously lol - might give you more maneuverability being lighter? Amazing concept peeps! Xx
I mean it's only 250 g to begin with but with the mavic mini 2 you get the transmission system back to the smart controller as well and you can change where the camera looks
@@NURKFPV ohh yeah - that is a damn good reason for sure my friend - good call! 😀 I mean that mini thing does transmit to a phone app but if its anything like the cheaper wireless transmission from cine cam to phone things we've been forced to use on indie sets before during C19 - I'm betting there's MEGA delay 😆 ah-well-thank you for being awesome and putting up such interesting content ideas, you crazy gaff tape weilding genius, you! ;) xx
I think you missed out on another great application, the ability to mount it facing BACKWARDS OR SIDEWAYS and having a live camera feed which can be communicated to the main pilot to make adjustments :D
Or, fly both as an octocopter. I’m not sure if you’d have to give the same inputs from two different radios in synchronized amounts. It be fun to find out.
I have an air 2 that I just can't trust anymore after firmware glitch. I've thought about it before but never expected results anywhere near this, especially considering its just strapped up there with tape 🤣 might have to give it a try now!
@@theskiller8278 I tried to update firmware as I normally do and it failed at 59% and now won't update at all. I've tried several different devices and pc and it fails in the same spot.
Angle the mini 2, 30 degrees like a gopro so it sits in a more natural position when you're in flight. If you mount it flat, like in this video you are maxing out the range of where the gimbal is really designed to work. Also, with my Inspire, I learned to use the click and drag technique on the iPad for controlling the gimbal. It's more intuitive with more natural movements compared to controlling with the sticks. I picked up a Mavic 2 Pro and noticed the gimbal can rotate left and right just like an Inspire can, so that's super trick. I'm not sure about mini2 being able to yaw, but that would be super useful for something like this. I might have to try this my M2P on my 8" quad.
Oh my gosh! I just tried this same thing over the weekend but it was with a dji pocket gimbal thingy. It was trash though. The vibrations and stuff sucked, but I did ponder long and hard about how to use the camera from my mavic pro 2 on an fpv
A thought Mr Nurk, sir: From watching videos, etc, I feel like I have an idea of the differences between an x4 quad and an x8 cine-lifter. However, I don't have any conception about the differences between x6 and x8. I'm assuming yaw authority isn't a consideration, but lift? Weight? Do they feel different in the air? Anyway, just an idea for a video or maybe even a segment or an aside. Thanks for the good work, man.
Nurk, is this what we should expect of the DJI FPV Mini? Are you making this video because you already test flew the DJI FPV Mini and cannot talk about it directly, so you taped a mini to indirectly showcase it to us?
Craziest thing I've strapped to my drone was my phone. But not for the camera...it was because I wanted to see what my insurance/driving app would say.
you mentioned it multiple times, but this is how the DJI FPV drone was supposed to be like. it shouldve had the 3 or at least a 2 axis gimbal and allow for locking to do both fpv and cinema style flying in a tight little package. great stuff. maybe gutting an older DJI mini and harvesting parts is next?
I wonder if it would be possible to hook up a replacement camera module from a DJI drone somehow instead of trying to deal with the ronin like you were before. Like from a mavic 3 or something. No idea how it would be controlled though...
New to drones, am I missing something when piloting are you using the mini2's camera or the one built into the drone and why is this a good idea? do they not make this camera to be sold separately? forgive my ignorance.
Now Paul, really taping it?? I thought I showed you better. Literally just get some baked beans, rub some on the bottom of the mavic and on top of the drone, and let it dry for 5 minutes it’ll stick awesome and make the footage look better
@@NURKFPV without the rest of the mini 2 drone. The gimbal and 4k camera from the mini 2 is tiny, be cool if someone could get that to work as the main camera.
Hi @nurkfpv 🇫🇷 no hate ! But did you make it because you saw my video post 1 month ago ? Because it looks exactly the same 😅maybe we have the same idea ! Anyway seems like we are connect ! Keep pushing ✅
oh man you should have had the mini running on there see how much it fights you trying to fly around lol or it might give you super extended battery life haha
KababFPV posed a game idea nearly 4 years ago where he stuck a metal spike on the front of a quad to pick up & drop clothes hangars, I took up that idea by putting a micro servo on a micro quad to drop the game piece on demand, my game piece was a tetrahedron made out of drinking straws & TPU corners. Seek out my vids called "Tetraquadron". Sadly nobody really seemed interested in actually making a game out of the idea.
Just found your channel after watching the fitness facility you captured in Indy. I had a feeling you had a background in racers because of some of the maneuvers you performed throughout the video. Subbed and looking forward to checking out your other content
It's the measurement across the frame diagnally from motor center to motor center.. FPV drones are typically 5 inch and 7 inch but you could make any kind of custom flyer. You'd have to make all your build parts custom tho or use parts from a 5 or 7 in drone since those are the recognized standards.
