I'm guessing it will have to do with the location of their store. I've heard rent in New York City for retail spaces suck to the point that during the pandemic, people were leaving for cheaper cities. I don't know the city but judging by the building, it could be a high end part of the city.
Great meeting you yesterday, dude. I came to check if we made it to your channel, saw the title and my first thought was "Oh no, I hope I gave a five star experience" LOL. Cool series!!!
14:30 So this dude bought the heavy jungle pack for $400, tradeded it in at the next shop for $200 worth of cards and calls it a sweet trade? What's going on here
hes braindead is whats going on lol, he basically traded 400 bucks for 100 cash value, cos if he tried selling those cards he would get less than half value
I mean he said the light pack price is around 200 bucks or something if I heard correctly so I’m guessing the shop is taking it and considering it a non weighed pack or light pack instead of a heavy pack for insurance
Hey Mystic, i think i have an answer to ur problem. Q 96 is a Radio station in New York so to my understanding they stopped by Bleeker Street when the guy wanted to go there and Q 96 went to bleeker street to do a meet n greet thats why they weren't picking up the phone. He got no response because they were busy at the time.
The $50 for 151 was crazy expensive, not a single hit in any of the packs, and if you watch at 1:40 there wasn't a code card in the pack?? OKay.. and the last shop..You bought the heavy pack for $400. Went next door, they offered you $200 cash, then said they couldn't do it because a manager wasn't there or whatever, which was the guy who left the 1 star review exact complaint, that he had to come back 3 times. THEN they gave you the same amount of trade value as they would have in cash and you still left a 5 star review?? Makes no sense.
@@Sailor-Khione The same box is cheaper pretty much everywhere in my local area and online. That's all they're saying. 50 is a lot for a booster bundle.
I feel bad for businesses getting 1 star reviews just because people think they're supposed to get pulls out of every pack and can't admit that they're unlucky. Like if it was a small card shop sure it's possible that they could have been resealed, but if it's a entire business and a large shop there's no way they would take the time to reseal the packs and sell them with knowledge that they're resealed. They didn't even take pictures of the pack and it can be obvious when they're resealed sometimes.
As an avid TCG videos consumer, I really like how you edit the videos, especially without the annoying prices of each pull that nowadays it's a must for every YT video
6:25 reminds me of the scammers who resealed packs and returned them to target after stealing all good pulls and replacing them. I never felt so disapointed.
It's honestly sad that there are actual scam artists in the community but I'd easily say 90% of shops if not higher are legit and treat all customers with care. These people spend $25 dollars expecting to get a $50 hit everytime and when they don't they trash the shops. It honestly bothers me
I got 20 resealed cardboard packs from DoorDash not too long ago. I’ve only ever ordered from big stores like Best Buy, but the places I usually ordered from were out… so I bought 20 packs from popshelf, which is like a dollar tree type store. They opened one side of the cardboard and sealed most back with glue, but I guess ran out of glue or something? So they literally started using rolled up Balls of tape to stick the cardboard back down. I was so shocked. 18 out of 20 I got were opened. I called the store to let them know and she immediately knew what happened. While on the phone with me she told the clerk next to her “you remember that guy with all the pokemon cards from DoorDash last week? He returned them all opened!” Got my money back through DoorDash but I’ll definitely be careful of who I order from in the future. Also, I don’t usually order cards, but I had a ton of credits to burn up lol.
"They sell for around $40 on tcg player but it's worth $50 when you have to physically go into a store with a bunch of smelly nerds and buy it for $10 more. 5 stars🤓🤓🤓"
@@Official_JakeClips Definitely not, because the price was $40 shipped, and in reality it's actually 35 plus $5 flat shipping, so if you got 5 it would only be $36
I live in NYC and I've been to all of these shops. a few of them are mostly known for their locals/tournaments and aren't too focused on products which might be the cause for the low reviews
About Q96: If you look at house number you can see its "96" and "Q" would mean "queue". So they were waiting in the queue for the card shop at 96 (address). :D
The last one has deserved like 3-4 Stars imo, because he avoided giving money. Imagine you want to sell your collection for MONEY because you stopped collecting and he offers new cards instead of giving money. R.I.P. x,x
What an awesome video. Sometimes a review can make you feel a bit discourage from visiting a shop. It’s like people make things personal. One little bad experience shouldn’t spoil your fun. Life is to short enjoy every little moment that makes you happy. Keep on collecting!
I actually found you guys on what not which led me to YT... keep up the content and hard work, the hobby needs more outlets to learn all this great perspective like your channel here and the streams on whatnot. The BIN is LOADED!
Guess how much a McDonald's meal costs in New York City? The state isn't afraid to tax everyone to death and tell them "we all need to be resilient." The cigarette prices in Manhattan represents the biggest legal racket in America because of the taxes.
If you’re not spending money on Japanese 151 you’re just burning your money. The disparity between the English and Japanese is absolutely unreal, sure 151 in the end of it’s only reprint but come this time next your it will right back up to were it was and in several years they will be extremely expensive.
I feel like to get a true experience send a friend because most shops probably know you, but also 1 star reviews on card shop are usually just bitter people not getting hits on packs
Why is poker such an awesome place that I wanna visit? I can't wait because I live just across from New York in Toronto and I just I want to visit poker in it. Their young establishment and they know mystic rips. So they just like are awesome
Since someone said it in the video. I had a similar thing happen. The first meowscrada i pulled was a full art golden card. I'm still trying to get a normal meowscrada with no luck.
If I buy a box at card shops, I ask the person working to pick the lucky one. Last time I did that, I bought a Japanese 151 box…pulled the Charizard special illustration rare. Worth it.
Yeah 50$ is crazy for that not to be that guy but most people when buying pokemon can’t always afford anything pokemon so 50 is huge for that for most people they have them for way cheaper even in big brand stores
genuine question from someone who is not invested in the pokemon card game at all, what drives the price of the cards? Does playability in the card game matter, or is it strictly based on cool art?
But watch how the shop owner pulls from that booster box @6:56. The guy goes down a few pack into the box. Thats what scammers do. They place their scammed packs in certain places to either give a good pull to new customers or a bad pull to a regular to unload some unprofitable stock.
