I think the problem with online reviews is that people who have bad experiences tend to rate businesses more frequently than people who have had good experiences.

I agree. Those with bad experiences use the rating system to vent their frustrations. Those with good experiences just move on and eventually return to the establishment for more good service/food.

Very true and when someone new wants to check out the place, all they see is the negative reviews. Plus, most of those guest don’t even speak with a manager to make it better or not satisfied with any apology or comps.

@@otrebla8944agree and disagree. There's tons of good to great reviews also. The issue is that most of the bad reviews are exaggerated in that they're really closer to a 2 or 2.5 star review but they do 1 star out of spite. The reviews that I personally trust the most are the 3-4 star reviews as well as the lack of 1-2 star reviews.

I think the "Welcome to Hooters" sign at the front of the casino is left over from when the whole hotel/casino was branded Hooters. I got one of the Cake Boss cake slices in the airport and it was pretty good, but I couldn't eat the whole slice by myself. It was too much sweet.

Hi-ration cake liquid is shortening like Crisco. It makes the cake more temperature stable. It helps icing hold more air after whipping and it helps keep cakes moist giving them a finer smoother texture.

Been to Vegas 7-10x the past 3 years for 3-4 days each stay. I love going around trying different places / restaurants. I would check reviews every time and follow recommendations at times. I think any place could receive bad reviews any day. Things could happen on that instant or maybe just coincidence that day. I would doubt one or two bad reviews but when there is a trend in their bad reviews it usually is a red flag. So far i have not been to a place that deserves 1 star, thanks to Norma and other youtuber recommendations. Btw one place i tend to come back to every time i am in Vegas is Oyster bar in Palace station. Long wait but worth it every time.

Great video, Norma. I plan on staying on Fremont St. my next visit. I just eat when I get hungry when I am there. I would go behind or to the side of the Strip. These little hidden gems are mostly great. You looked absolutely adorable in this.

Great looking wings, it's been a long time since I've had Hooter-Wings. I am a believer that there is no such thing as a bad pizza... just pizza that is 'less-good'. I've never had a pizza where I would have rather eaten the box 🍕🍕🍕... that's just ridiculous. I apply the same theory to cakes! Happy to hear the cake slice was decent. I will bring my own fork 😁😁😁 - I may have to test one out next week while in LV. Great video as always!

I've been to the Pho Saigon 8 on Silverado and have read some really negative reviews there, several of them 1 star. The few times I've been, I've really enjoyed my time. The only negative I'd say would be the waitstaff being a little unattentive, but in all honesty - I personally prefer that. I like being left to eat in peace. Would love to see more of these, though! Interesting to see some new places.

my husband doesn't like sweets and we LOVE the Cake Boss vending machine cakes. The chocolate is my favorite and the red velvet is my husbands favorite - they are a MUST every trip. PRO TIP: always check the forks BEFORE getting the cake because they are often empty :/

vegasstarfish usually tends to leave bad reviews about everything. Thank you for always being so positive Norma. Even when you don't necessarily enjoy a certain place, you are always professional, respectful and kind. Unlike certain other Vegas content creators. One of the many reasons I'm happy to be dubbed a Norma Knight!

I see the 1 star that were years ago. I would go with the most recent as the bad reviews from years or months might changed. I did visit the taco shop in Fremont and its ok. For the same price I would go to Taco El Gordo for the more value. Hoping Jacob would do the same thing.

Glad you had a nice time at Hooters. I live in the Los Angeles area there 12 Hooters here. I haven't there food for over 10 years. But then their wasn't very good. It was all about the cute women. Maybe they finally got message. There 12 locations went down to 2 and never recovered. I did see in the background of your video there is a Tilted Kilt restaurant. That is similar to Hooters. There food is much better..

After working many service industry jobs over the decades, I will never take anyone's reviews to heart, people all are different, are in different moods, different back stories, so you will always get an angry customer or 2 every day, its just the nature of the beast, and now w content and social media, its easier for depressed people to make themselves feel better after posting nasty comments on things. Always try something out for yourself first before judging someone or something.

It’s all about expectations. Hoovers you go for the wings and not the quality of the restaurant. Cake boss cake-mine was pretty flavorless but not the worst cake I’ve ever had. Pizza-if it’s not a sit down restaurant just don’t expect it to be amazing pizza and if it is great then all the more exciting!

I did taste Buddy's cake - comes out frozen. I tried the rainbow slice, but there was too much frosting in between all the cake layers. Too much. I did not try any other flavors. Would I buy again or try a different slice? No.

Pizza D Italia is fine n ok.i like it good fare price.my son n I really enjoy the pizza.my son is very picky with pizza n it's a must stop on annual las vegas trip.for pizza it's better then the pizza we've tried on many trips to Vegas.not as good as Canadian pizza tho.lol

I have tried pizza italia. It was ok not horrible . Probably an unpopular opinion but I think this pizza is better then secret pizza at cosmopolitan. Secret pizza was just way to greasy.

When it comes to restaurant reviews, I don't read anything less than 5 stars. It seems at 3 and below are the people that was not expecting it to cost that much and was upset that they had to pay as much as they did. It reminds me of the people that come to Las Vegas, spend too much and don't have the gas money to get home so they complain about the hotel room hoping that gets discounted to make traveling money. P.S. I see the Buddy's Cake Machine that Norma was standing to everyday and can confirm they stock the machine regularly and Norma could have asked for a fork from the Tilted Kilt next door.

A great many of restaurants show a lack of attention to consistency , proper food handling, execution and training. Sadly, quality of ingredients and lack flavor other than heat levels is all too common. Food carts and trucks offer better experiences.

I better try those tacos on Fremont than tacos El Gordo on the strip, last time I went to tacos El Gordo they were crowded, the tacos were expensive and bad and the employees and customers were in a bad mood that I ended up with a huge panic attack. 🫨🫨

I looked up the "high ratio cake liquid". It's a liquid shortening that is used in cakes that have a higher sugar to flour ratio, to produce a moist and tender crumb in the cake. It also produces a silky batter and does well going from shelf to freezer and back again. It is also an emulsifier so it makes the batter come together more quickly, giving high yield bakeries time to make more product. Just in case anyone wanted to know but didn't want to look it up!

Went to the taco place in Fremont last week and the birra ramen and tacos combo was pretty darn good. My local buddy said the reputation of that place wasn't good but we went, we ate, we conquered and enjoyed.

It’s crazy that back in the day it was the Hooter’s Hotel and Casino. It was kind of a nice place to hang out but started to deteriorate as the years passed. Then OYO purchased the property.

you could have bought it for $20M plus debt after 2008....that's what the owners prior to OYO did. I cant even guess how much that hotel is going to be worth now.
