Okay naval architect here, that ballast keel on the first "solid" hulled boats doesn't counter the waves. It moves the center of mass below the center of buoyancy, without the ballast the ship is like trying to balance a pencil on its tip. What actually counters the waves is the center of buoyancy moving around. Also love the pronunciation of yacht, the correct way is clearly wrong along with most English pronunciation.
We bought an old lobster vessel of a fisherman awhile ago, he wasn’t happy with how shallow its keel was, coast guard steamship inspector wasn’t happy with the 800lbs of rocks in the bilge he used to make it more stable lol
@@FundyisleLegacy why would anyone want more draft, the only advantage I can see is changing the rolling characteristics or rectifying a loll issue. If a boat you bought has a loll issue you probably shouldn't be just putting rocks in it to fix the issue.
@@abyssaljam441 yeah he wanted it to roll less, he’s the one who put the rocks in, we took them out and put the boat in operation in an area that doesn’t get the wave action that the others have
Ive had a coastguard boat in 2010 or so it was bigger than the polar explorer ship, but it was GIANT as a Kid. I played with it like it was a cruise ship or a battle cruiser
i'm curious, as to what would happen, if the propeller was tested out on a boat from the city set from the artic expeditions series or one of the two boats the aqua raiders used. would they still float?
5:59 Its a playmobil propellor motor. I love playmobil and I can confirm these playmobil motors are all defect and can’t be turned around so they are correct
I know 😂 I was looking ages for a LEGO one that worked but then I saw a blue motor that looked exactly like the video and I clicked on it to find it was PLAYMOBIL. I love playmobil I loved ever since I was 3
There actually were electric motors that could clip to the keel from the floating series. I had a couple of those. They were not from Lego, but came from a small submarine toy, that I also had.
I’m planning on making one of my big model battleships float and attaching one of these motors to the Barton of it with the keel piece too but also machining a Leo plate to fit it so we have as little leaks as possible and adding a smoke effect to make it look like the ship is really sailing
6:21 RMS BRICKTANNIC, Feb 20th 2024, hit a tub wall and sunk will all hands lost. Rescue vessel RMS BRICKTORY 6:29 capsized at the last known location while searching for survivors.
You missed an entire generation of Lego boats. The early 90s fire boat, police boat, and cruiser. Also for video purposes the first pirate ships as well.
The boat motor you got in 5:57 is a PLAYMOBIL motor, not a LEGO motor. But both fits on the lego boats! I don't know, which motor is stronger - the lego one or the playmobil one.
