Thank you for the video, even 3 years on it helped at least one person :) It must have taken a long time to film but it was very informative because I was sceptical about the concept of a cooling blanket ^^ I particularly appreciated the temperatures being both in Fahrenheit and Celsius degrees. It's very nice to not have to do conversions. It's not much in return for your work but here is some gratitude from a stranger
Hi! You're very welcome - I'm glad the video was helpful all these years later. And actually, your comment counts for a lot more than you might think. It always puts a smile on my face to read nice comments like yours, especially when you mention a specific reason you found the video useful. That kind of feedback is really valuable to me as it helps guide what I include in future videos. It's also great motivation to keep making videos. So thank you too:-)
Your videos are so helpful! I’ve struggled with sleep all my life, and your videos are very concise and informative. Love the work you’re doing here! ♥️
Thank you so much for this very scientifically rigorous comparison of the blankets! I own the Luxome with one side smooth and the other minky, and now in June it’s too warm. I’ve considered the Bearaby Napper before for summer use, and now, thanks to your research, I believe I’ll buy one. Excellent review! 🙏
You're welcome Susan, I did my best! If you do buy one, please let me know what you think of it, and if you agree about it being more breathable than those with glass microbeads.
Great video mate, can tell you're an honest reviewer - not a paid shill like the other channels haha. Keep up the work and you'll carve a niche, bloke!
This is the most objective, data based video I found on RU-vid for weighted blankets. I found this video to be more helpful than most subjective videos out there. Thank you!
This review was very helpful! However I'm curious if you would ever consider doing more of an extensive review of some more knitted weighted blanket brands on the market? Other than Bearaby, or at least compared to it. There's Silk&Snow, Nuzzie, Yaasa, Italic, YnM, California Design Den, Zonli, and potentially others I have missed. I love your reviews on weighted blankets, very down to earth and you talk about things I actually would like to know, like the temperature!
Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated! It's not something I'm planning on doing at the moment. It takes me a really, really long time to film and edit these comparison videos, so I am careful which ones I choose to do. I think comparing different brands that are all making a similar looking product doesn't make as much sense as comparing different styles and materials at this time.
Great video, thanks for doing this! I am currently deciding between the Bearaby Napper and the Baloo, and this might have helped me seal it for the the Napper
Thanks Marlon! I've been waiting a bit nervously for some feedback as I don't usually do this kind of video, so it's nice the first comment is positive:-)
thank you so much for making this. I just ordered a bearby blanket. I hope it works out for me, i sweat like a pig ina blanket as of right now so cant get any worse. Thanks again! sub earned
@@BrayanMartinez-tn6mn it does ! It definitely take some time getting use too… it’s like sleeping with a heavy net. I got the largest size and actually fold it over twice and sleep with it like that…. 1 layer I was actually getting to chilly at night due to me sleeping with fans on….. but I haven’t sweat a night since I got the bearaby. Pretty neat blanket, would recommend if your looking for an extremely breathable blanket, with a nice weight.
@@brodyllc , I think I'll consider a Bearby blanket as well. Too much breathability can be fixed with an additional light breathable sheet or blanket, but if it't too hot on its own, you're kinda hooped.
I bought a Hush Iced weighted blanket and returned it. Too hot. In the morning my underwear was damp all over and it was from being too hot and sweating. I returned the blanket (which was exactly as new and I used bamboo sheets to prevent any odour or stains), and they tried to screw me over on the return. Thankfully I video taped the unpacking and the return packing and after a couple of weeks got all my money back.
Probably one of the best review/comparison videos I've ever seen. Thank you! There is a Luxsome with cooling bamboo on both sides that I wonder if it might be cooler than the 1/2 cool, 1/2 warm cover. What do you think?
Thank you so much for your very kind compliment! I really appreciate it:-) So, the thing with those covers is that they do feel cooler to the touch, and on the skin when you use them - especially when compared to minky covers which tend to feel much warmer and trap more heat. But, and it's an important but, a lot of the overall heat is generated by the main weighted blanket insert. So yes, bamboo on both sides will feel cooler than one that has a warmer material on one side, but the insert will still trap a fair bit of heat as the night progresses.
I’d like to throw in my two cents and agree with Mr. No Sleepless Nights. I own the Luxome with the 2 different sides, and I agree with his assessment about why it’s so warm. It’s too warm for me for summer in Nebraska! Tomorrow the temp is supposed to his 102 degrees. 🫠
upon watching this video again, I realized that you tested the Bearaby Napper, not the Bearaby Tree Napper. Apparently that blanket is supposed to run even cooler. Have you ever tried it?
I haven't tried it, no. I imagine it might feel a bit cooler to the touch. But really, them main way the Bearaby is cooler than the rest is the air holes, not the material choice in my opinion. I might be wrong, but I'd be surprised if the Tencel instead of cotton made such a big difference, so I'd just choose the one you like the feel of.
I’m really struggling with night sweats then wake up freezeing with a drenched bet. I need help it’s so horrible. Too hot with a 4.5 tog duvet and it’s too cold and exposed with just a sheet. Please help anyone 🙏🏻.
Sorry to hear that Helena. It doesn't sound pleasant at all. I'm not sure a weighted blanket is the answer to night sweats really. I may be wrong, but I don't see how they could help in a meaningful way. I think it probably depends on what's causing the night sweats in the first place as to what bedding and/or fan based system might be more appropriate for you. And that's assuming the bedding is even going to make a difference. I would look into moisture wicking bedding, and if you have the cash to spend, perhaps look at the BedJet as that is marketed as helping night sweats because of the control over the air flow and temperature it gives you. All the best - I hope you find a solution!
Hey there! I'm interested in purchasing the bearaby. I was wondering about your thoughts on the Tree Napper. The one made with tencel instead of cotton. Do you think that would be better suited for a hot sleeper? Also what do you think about the way it feels when compared to the Cotton Napper? Thanks so much!
Hi. I haven't tried the tencel tree napper. I imagine it will be very similar. I don't think it's so much the material that makes it breathable, but all the air holes in the weave. Maybe I'm wrong and it feels more or less breathable, but my first thought would be that they are similar.
Thank you for this Video! I want to buy a weighted blanket but it is a hard aka expensive decision. The bearby Looks so good, sadly i live in germany:( do you have got experiences with the Company „ scandinavian rest“? Sorry for my english 🙈
You're welcome, I hope it was helpful. I don't know that company, but just took a look at their website. The images and details look good, and they have a 30 day trial period. As long as that applies to customers in Germany, it could be an option to try.
I did think about it, but it's always hot sleepers that specifically ask me for suggestions, and never cold sleepers (until now!). But my intention with this video was to also suggest good ones for cold sleepers based on the simple fact that they aren't so good for hot sleepers. You can see which ones were warmest in the results section at the end of the video. The question is then, are there even better ones for cold sleepers? The only ones I've tried which are even warmer (from memory) tend to have the thickest minky duvet covers and more fiber fill in the internal pockets of the main blanket section. But they aren't always very breathable, so sometimes that extra warmth isn't ideal for the whole night. So really, I'd feel comfortable in recommending the Gravity blanket with the microfleece duvet cover as a great option for cold sleepers. If it's too expensive, you can find cheaper ones on sites like Amazon with warm duvet covers. Quility, for example, are warm, cheaper, and reasonably good quality. Honestly though, if you use any weighted blanket you like on top of your normal bedding, it will feel nice and warm. That's what I do in the winter, and it works really well.
Without a cover, it's probably middle of the pack in terms of breathability because there's quite a bit of fiberfill in the pockets, and the fabric isn't as breathable as some of the other blanket. With a cover, you can expect it to be even warmer. So it's not one I'd recommend for hot sleepers based on my experience with it.
