Love these tips for red lips. I have never thought of layering the lip stain under the lipstick, but it seems genius, and I am going to try it. Thank you!
@@StephanieMarie wow ur so beautiful glossy Brite hot pink is my go to lipstick but after seeing your make up and red lipstick 💄 I'm going to start wearing a red thank you stephanie!!
Great tip on the stain. I have the Lisa E velvet ribbon but gave up wearing it because my lips in the middle fade away fairly quickly and as a teacher, I don’t always have the opportunity to to check my lips
Hi Stephanie! Love this. My go to for lipsticks is always red as I love a vintage look. Ruby Woo is my ride or die. I also use Charlotte Tillbury in So Red. My drugstore go to is Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour but I can't remember the shade of red. I was lucky enough to get tickets to the Eras Tour. It was the best concert I've ever been to! I'm a Swifty from way back so it was great to finally see her live. Have a Merry Christmas! 💋💋💋
I love MAC's Russian Red, Besame's Victory red, and Revlon Fire & Ice. I love a clear lip liner with reds. Your blush is perfect! PS, please start including budget options again. Seems like you're all high end these days. 😐 My tastes are champagne, but my budget is strictly Coke! 😂
Thank you! I just did a drugstore video. Did you miss it? I also tend to mix in drugstore product into other videos, like my skincare video. And if I don’t use drugstore products, I give or list suggestions as I did there. I also did an Amazon video recently. There aren’t many new drugstore products this time of year but more are being released now. I always do one Amazon video a month and try to do one drugstore video too and mix products into other videos if not. 💗
@@StephanieMarie 😧 I *did miss the drugstore video, darn it! Going back to check... I used to feel bad about not buying high end, but there are SO many good dupes out there now, I don't worry. I love the classic red lip, but it is tricky. There's a fine line between a great red, and the lipstick wearing you! 🙄
I am relatively new to lipsticks in general, but especially red. I am 30 (today lol) and i got full dentures 2 years ago. I would absolutely NEVER ever dare to put lipstick on before then. One of the most significant and magical part of that, was trying on lipstick for the first time and realizing that apparently lipstick is actually my most favorite thing about makeup and it's my thing, and now its one of my iconic identifying traits lol. Ive fallen in love with trying lipsticks and learning and allowing myself to experiment. That being said i was so afraid to wear red!! I've only worn red twice, and both times i received the most amazing compliments it was wild. However i struggle finding the best ones for me and still have a bit of a fear of it.
Hi Stephanie! I'm a new subscriber, and I LOVE your eye makeup look you wore in the swatch clips. Could you please do a tutorial? So thankful for your mature skin content!!
I dont have thick lips so ted scares me. What I want to know is if there’s any moisturizing yet long lasting blu/red lippies. My lips are sensitive to permanent matte type lippies. Dries them out and chaos them. Doesn’t matter how I prep. I’d like to be able to apply something like that and maybe be able to apply a gloss over it without it taking the color away.
Red lip fan here. found the Lisa Eldridge lipsticks were too drying for me personally (and transferred to teeth, etc. when talking) - was disappointed for the price, too much work to make them work but gorgeous colors. The Sephora lip stain I've been wearing for 7+ years and highly recommend. Also - highly recommend Besame Red! More of a satin finish but lasts very long and wears evenly/stains slightly, so good for longer days.
You forgot Ruby Woo by Mac both the liner and the lipstick. She talked about it in an interview one time. She said she kept them everywhere, in her purses, car, every house... etc. She said it was her signature color. She is the reason I bought it, but honestly, I think I prefer Lady Danger on me. Both are beautiful though.
I tried some of these suggestions. I love the color and look of the Fenty, but it easily gets messy (as in looking like I have clown lips). It doesn’t seem to dry down. Any hints at how to prevent this?
With really wet formulas like that one, I wipe off the applicator off pretty well on the sides of the tube before applying. That way the application is thinner and less messy. It also dries down more. If a liquid lip isn’t dry after 60 seconds or so, I blot it very lightly with a tissue - just enough to get off the excess wetness, but not so much that it removes pigment. I hope that helps!
You’re stunning but you don’t need Taylor for a vlog influence… honestly, I’m 38 & have way more respect for you doing you than anything about her. But still great video!
Thank you :) It was just a fun video idea that I had that didn't gain me any more views than normal. Probably less actually. But I wanted to do it, so I did. Thank you though!
SHARON SHNEYER, Stephanie I love most of your videos and was actually familiar with Mac's Rubby Wu (I may even own it from long ago), But In My Personal Opinion, You Are Wearing Too Much Blush, it was the first thing I noticed when I turned on the video. If I'm correct, blush is supposed to enhance your face, not look like you're wearing something. Sorry, I've been a makeup junkie since before I was a teenager.
The Sephora one is used by the Rockettes. Maybelline Super-Stay in “Pioneer” is gorgeous!! Also, Sally’s Palladio lipliner in “Rockin’ Red” is a terrific lipliner. I learned awhile back to apply primer to lips, then line and fill in lips with lipliner, and then apply lipstick. 💄 Works well with bullet or liquid lip color. LUV the lipstain hack!! ❤️💄👍🏻
I love Fenty Uncensored; friends appear shocked when I walk in wearing it. A little later they seem surprised and say they love it. I think red lips shock a little these days whereas they were perfectly normal in my mother’s day.
It’s true. I hardly wear a red lip but when I do I make sure the eye makeup is underplayed so it looks like a “statement” and not just a ton of makeup.
This was so fun, and you really pull off that red lip very well! If I may be so bold, my favorites on you beginning at the top was the NARS Rita, Pat McGrath, then the Fenty, and then the Dior Satin. I can't speak to formula, but I personally think those colors were the prettiest on you. So classic! This was the first year I was brave enough to start wearing red lipstick. I have naturally fuller lips and always felt a bit too conspicuous in red lipstick. (I'm fairly shy.) This year I just stopped caring about people doing a double-take. I think I may even have to invest in that Fenty lip stain, LOL!
@@ChristinePacinda If you get this message, have you tried the Rouge Dior Satin lipstick?? Omg that formula!! I even considered trying the Satin 999 but can only do so if it's more warm than cool. I can't really wear cool lipsticks... But heard rumors that 999 Satin might lean warm ... 🤔💄
What a lip-labor intensive video! All of the red shades look beautiful with the way you’ve done your makeup. Stunning, Stephanie! Thank you for the tutorials ❤️🥰
I like the Nars Powermatte lip crayons but I think that you might get a more long-lasting look with the Nars Powermatte Lipstick (also available in Dragon Girl).
It can be very hard to find the right shade and undertone. Don’t give up! You may look good in a more warm red. Merit has a shade called Cabo-it works on me.
I used to think this too! I firmly believe everyone can wear red if you find the right tone for you and if the rest of your makeup is done properly - toning the eyes down more than usual in most cases and for many (like myself), amping up bronzer a bit. For some reason I lose a bit of color in my face when I go deeper with my lip. Playing around with sheer shades or dabbing on lipsticks with a finger so they’re a bit more muted can ease you in a bit too 💗
Love love your eye look, I was mesmerized by it and especially the inner highlight. In my opinion, we all know how much you love blush and in this video I found you used a light hand. Personally, I’ve never been comfortable wearing a red lip but you rocked it Stephanie - every one of them!!
I usually wear a red lip daily, but I also apply my eye makeup first. If I’m too heavy handed with my eyes-I take a red & use my finger to smudge it on and then the leftover as blush. Then there is some balance on my face. 💋
Wow you look so beautiful in a red lip- definitely Taylor vibes. I knew she was an Oat McGrath girl but also wondered about her foundation- stays perfect through all those rainstorms and 44 songs. polarizing an interesting word. I’m a Kansas City girl - adore Travis Kelce and just want him happy however that works out.
I was watching a video of yours from 2022 and thinking you reminded me of Taylor. You should try a Taylor Swift makeup tutorial… I would love to see that
This video could not have come at a better time!! I'm wearing a red lip tonight for a holiday party!!! I bought the Pat McGrath one when I learned she wore it on Eras tour and it is AMAZING. It really does last.
That lip stain trick is great before other colors as well. I use a lip stain ( obviously one close to lip color) ahead of a deeper nude and it makes it look much longer lasting so you needn’t limit that trick just for red lip applications.
My favourite reds are Nars Powermatte lip Pigment in Don't Stop and Starwoman, Byredo Red Armchair and La Flamme, MAC Locked Kiss Ink in Ruby True and Nars Matte Lipstick in Innapropriate Red... 💋❤💋❤💋❤🇬🇧
You totally rock a red lip 👄 I have only worn a red lip once, got a lot of compliments but for some reason never done it again even though it’s my favorite color and I feel I can pull it off (just makes me a little self conscious), this video is making me wanna try it again this holiday season!!
great info...thank you for sharing. Saw Eras Tour on Disney channel and giant TV...it is amazing! She is so creative and talented. In my retirement years I have become a Swiftie. I hope she and Travis live happily ever after ❤❤❤
I can’t imagine a long-wearing that doesn’t dry out. I end up with flaky, dry lips and can hardly speak. Then have to apply gloss over it periodically. I don’t know how Taylor can sing without lips drying out at some point. Maybe during costume changes they reapply or put on gloss.
This was such a fun video! I love a good red lip moment and really think the red lip stain hack is super smart. I also keep a lip balm handy if I don't have time to retouch. Red lipstick is usually loaded with pigment and a tiny bit of lip balm pressed into the center of your lips will help spread the dry pigments.
Just an aside. I love seeing your natural curls (and I’m left scratching mine as to why every red look great on you.). Thanks for aiding me in the quest for ‘my red.
None o these shades would look good on me. My lips are too thin and I don’t like the I’m penciling a line a quarter of an inch outside my real lips look. It looks fake and not in a good way.
