I would love it if you started trying out less expensive brand's of everything, from pencils ✏, to acrylic paint, that even includes media paper 📃 and etc. This was a great and honest review.
For the colored pencils… I’ve never used these before but is it possible the reason they kept breaking is because of how sharp you made them? Even the lightest pressure seems like a lot for those tiny sharp tips… As always, I love your videos! Thanks so much for sharing your opinions!!!
That’s what I was thinking too because those there very tiny points and only that section was breaking. The rest never broke. They seem like decent colored pencils!

I've had water based markers before and used a paintbrush and treated it like a watercolor marker, that helped the streakiness a bit for me at least, Just thought I'd mention it if you haven't tried it already.
Foofles is adorable! I think I see what's going on with the breakage on the color pencils. They're oversharpened. Super sharp points on soft core colored pencils just tend to break more easily. It might be worth looking at those pencils again using slightly broader points!

@@MiraByler 🤔interesting what you had said about the color pencils, because I have the exact same set, and I've had no problem with the pencil breaking I've only had I think two or three break out of using them since I bought them which was sometime last year, and that was my fault for pressing to hard.😅

I use those coloured pencils all the time and they rock. They are not lightfast at all (did my own test), but the blend beautifully and I've only had one lead break during sharpening. And my pencil leads don't break when colouring, but I have a lighter hand with art. And I tend to hold pencils to the side when colouring to preserve the point.
Thank you for this input! Thats the main difference between cheap and pricey, the lightfastness. make a nice drawing, hang it on the wall and less than a year later it's all bleached...
Floofles needs to be a sticker/pin. I love him. I didn’t see a lot of browns in the pencils ✏️. The stand for the markers is a nice touch. I’m in the need of drawing pencils. Thanks for the info.
I've hear so many different reviews on the pencils that it is really hard to know if they are good or bad, not that i need more pencils but they seem like something to get for my niece to practice with 🙂
Hi there! I have heard a lot about these pencils and my cousin owns the 72 set of them! He says that they seem to work really well, have lots of pigmentation and you don’t need to do much layers for a clear colour!however, the gold is apparently really ‘scratchy’ and they don’t blend supper nicely! However it depends on personal preference and what they will be used for - great range of colours and many more great factors to be considered! Hope this helped in any way 😀
Mira mentioned they're priced between crayola and prismacolor, and I'd say that applies to the quality, too. Probably closer to the crayola end of the spectrum. I'll sometimes grab one if I want a specific colour I lack in another set, but they're not on par with better pencils. If your niece is young and not overly experienced, I think they'd be fine; but if she's geared towards colouring more seriously, something a bit higher quality would be nicer.
Floofles is adorable. =) Proportions and certain angles, are a challenge for me… and feet are my biggest challenge when it comes to drawing people. Your girl is beautiful. =) The Butterfly/Moth is beautiful.
🙂I have the same color pencil set, I bought it sometime last year and I've had no problems the color seems to last very long, so the light fastness on these pencils are good, hope this helps. 😄💌🙂

I would really like to buy the brushpens since I think that they would probably work really well with handlettering, thry are just basically constantly unavailable so I'll probably just buy different ones
Lol it's kinda funny that people always seem to be surprised, that water-based markers are streaky. I mean ... they're water-based, what did you expect? XD They seem to do a quite nice job for little illustrations and bullet journaling tho
I cannot agree with you on the pencils. I find them truly good and the price is too good. To me they are better than Arteza. You probably got a Monday set of pencils.

I think the pencils are breaking so much because it probably got smashed during shipping, amazon ships stuff really terribly sometimes, especially with art supplies even if they're high end. It's the same with any colored pencil, the leads break inside if it's handled incorrectly. Maybe try running it over with a heat gun or put it out in the sun for a while for the cores to fuse back together.
I was really hopeful for the markers, because I LOVE my Tombow, but they are so gosh-darned expensive. It’s unfortunate they are so streaky. I’ve tried a bunch of different water-based markers, and most of them are streaky, but Tombow are the least streaky I’ve tried (other than the Arteza watercolor brush pens, but I can’t control the brush tip that well compared to the Tombow). I call my cats Floofles, sometimes! Such a cute name.
If you’re just starting out or must keep to a budget these Amazon art supplies look like they would be fab to use. Me? I’ve been “arting” for a while and have gotten to where I’m either using the “old dependables” Prismacolor or Polychromos the most. They are the most available with a wide range of colors…and can sometimes be found (Prismacolor may be sold very discounted….check Target for reasonably priced sets) on sale and you can get individual colors as you may need them. I do have other sets…some cheap and some higher priced and I use them some too. But for my “bread & butter” work, I’ll just stay with Prismacolor or Polychromos for now. (If I have $300-$400+ sitting around could I be lured to buy a full set of Caran dAche Luminance or Derwent Lightfast? Maybe, but would my work reflect the more expensive pencils? That’s a toss-up.)

i think in addition to the quality review, it's also important to mention that this is amazon's attempt at monopolizing yet another market. they're making cheap products that work reasonably well for casual artists, and by advertising them so heavily, they drive away the competition who, though their art supplies may be better quality, can't afford to sell for such dirt cheap prices because they'll never be able to mass produce on the level amazon does, and they can never advertise as much as amazon can on their own website. anyway, please don't let jeff bezos get even richer by letting him monopolize the art industry.
This is pretty depressing to read. I want to support other art suppliers but I'm also someone who needs it within my budget. I would say I'm still a beginner and honestly, don't want to spend $500 on art supplies when I don't have the skills to support it. I just want something that is of good quality while still being cheap. Branching out to expensive supplies comes after I'm confident in my art. I can see why many would buy from Amazon tbh. I have been wanting markers for ages but haven't had the courage to buy any.
@@roserain7034 Alcohol markers? There's some budget brands that aren't anywhere near Copic price. Arteza has some, Caliart, Shuttle Art, Ohuhu, those are the ones I've heard good things about. If you search them on RU-vid, you should find reviews that could maybe help you decide. Hope this is helpful and I'm not overstepping here! 😊
Have you ever tested Target’s art supply line? Mondo Llama is their store brand. I know they are for a younger artist, but some of them look promising.

This is the seventh or eighth person I've watched review the Amazon colored pencils. A friend of mine turned me on to them after she had watched quite a few reviews and purchased them for herself. I usually buy and use Prismacolor colored pencils so I was skeptical. Honestly this is the only bad review of the Amazon colored pencils out of every video I watched. I talked to my friend about the concerns Mira had about the pencils breaking all of the time and she said that she did not have the same experience at all. It wasn't brought up in any of the other reviews at all either. So I don't know what Mira's specialty in art is or if she is an avid colored pencil user. Maybe not but I don't sharpen my pencils to such a fine point and I use the edges of the lead more than the tips. So I went ahead and ordered the pencils since they were very cheap anyways and I have to say that I highly disagree with the rating that was given to the pencils. Especially if she was being very generous with her rating. I would give them a solid four out of five. They are comparable to the Prismacolor in a lot of ways and some wouldn't be able to tell the difference as far as color matching and blending. This is just my opinion though but I thought I'd share 😊

the only reason the lead breaks *_so much_* is because it's oversharpened. with a little bit of force on pencils that are too sharp, it can easily break the pencil's lead. so it probably would have been better if you left the pencils the way they were, and then it would have not broken as much as it did.
I love your brutally honest reviews! It's so hard to tell whether or not somebody's review is genuine or not and you, my friend, are genuine! I think you're pretty spot on with your ratings. My favorite is the sketching pencil set for sure! Great video! Thanks for sharing!
I have the drawing pencils, and I love them!! the only thing was I found the kneadable eraser to be VERY stiff! and omg!! the whole time I was screaming name the creature floofy!! great video!!!!

I love my Amazon pencils and I have used bigger brands I wouldn't say they are better than peisma color for ex but great budget pencil I use them with my other pencils that's how much I like them
I really wouldn't buy any pencil crayons from Amazon. They are so rough with stuff during shipping. If you repeatedly drop them, the leads are going to have micro breeaks and snap as soon as you try to use them. They can't get cans of anything to me without dents. Fountain pen ink usually takes 2 tries. It almost always gets broken the first time.
I appreciate your opinion, but either you received a bad batch, maybe one that had been dropped, but you're simply dead wrong about the Amazon pencils. I get less breakage with the Amazon pencils than with Prismacolor. If you look around at other videos, I think you'll see these pencils get a very high rating from artists, and you're the first I've seen complain about excessive breakage. You're also the first I've heard complain about blending. I find these pencils blend very, very easily, and very, very well. I've watched several other videos by pro artists who say the same thing. They should blend well. Amazon copied everything about Prismacolor in making them. They are, in fact, as close to being Prismacolor as a group of highly experienced professional artists and manufacturers could make them. You say they're fine for those who color, but get something else if you want to sell? First, I've never colored a single page, but I have friends who love it, and colorists are just as much artists, just as professional, and just as demanding as any other artist. But I assume you mean get one of the three or four top brands that cost several times what they're worth? One of the three or four top brands that owners always say are the best. . .until they blind test them against low cost brands and can't tell the difference about forty to sixty percent of the time. I'm including myself in this category. I've been fooled by cheaper brands against the three top brands I use. I have Prismacolor, Caran d'Ache, and the battered remains of a 120 count set Faber-Castell Polychromos.. Admittedly, I use these for my main artwork, and they are wonderful pencils, but they are NOT as good as most artists pretend they are, and they really are NOT worth the price, or anything close to you. You wouldn't think they were worth the price, either, if you knew how little it costs to manufacture them. Let me rephrase part of this. They are as good as most owners think they are, but they are really no better than many far cheaper brands, or so close the difference in negligible. I use them because they are good, and they're a tax write off, so the cost really doesn't matter much. Many point to light fastness as the deciding factor, but this, too, is misleading. It's assumed that if the light fastness isn't given, the pencil doesn't have any. This is wrong. Most low cost brands simply have never been tested for light fastness, often because doing so costs more money than many would think, or because they come from a country where this simply isn't done. Try testing some of these unmarked brands against a full spectrum of the big brand names. The results will surprise you.
One really good cheap art supply company that has their stuff on Amazon is Stationery Island. Their stuff is really quite cheap but really good as well! They even do cheap alcohol markers, and they're amazing!

This is what Amazon does. They find out what products sell well on their platform. Then they make competitive products for them. Cheap blow to companies who sell on their site.

I received my color pencil set in a box with other items so was picked good. When I order just pencils, they are in a plastic type envelope and break over and over.

I learnwd in college you wirk the point off to an angle then when you need a point you turn it a quarter turn . You're not supposed to use them sharp!!! lol
