Ibis just completely redesigned the Ripley and Ripmo, they now share a frame with the Ripley being 130/140 travel and the Ripmo being 150/160. They also adjusted the Ripmo's kinematics to make it a little more playful and a little less enduro-y since the HD6 now covers enduro race duty. But yeah enduro bikes are a hell of a drug haha, the sheer speed and confidence they have downhill can really get you into trouble haha. In the PDX area, the HD6 would be at home on stuff like Follow the Leader and Johnny Royale over at Sandy Ridge, Thrillium over at Yacolt, Fear and Loaming over at Tillamook, and the rowdiest trails at Post Canyon. I rode a Ripmo AF for 3 years before moving onto a Rocky Mountain Altitude, it's the swiss army knife of bikes.

I have a Ripley AF with a fox 36 140mm travel, carbon bars and wheels, 2.5 tacky Chan front wheel and I love it is very capable bike more than you will think, nevertheless I will love to own a carbon ripmo frame

Dustin, I think you would enjoy switching the bird call from a red tailed hawk shriek you are using to the bald eagle's seagull like squawk for the SRAM Eagle. It's ironically subversive compared to your current use.
@marksandoval5361

Dude, you missed the memo. The Ripley is now a 130/140 travel bike with long slacker geo. The Ripmo is now a 150/160 travel bike with longer slacker geo. In fact, both bikes now share the same frame.

I love your take on subjects. Thank you for a sensible perspective of e-bikes. I still love riding- I was racing motocross 50+ years ago. I have been mountain biking for 40 years. Downhill/lines/technical sections I am still good. Before I went e-bike I would come home and have to go to bed. Now, I can still do 5000’ ascent, 40mile XC ride and feel great when I am done.

I've owned a Ripmo AF and a Ripmo V2. Both incredible bikes. I do want an Exie or Ripley for longgggg rides. Also this video is slightly outdated. Ibis just released the new Ripley and Ripmo with new geo and suspension

Personally, I would pick the DV9 because I prefer the simplicity of a good hardtail. I currently ride a 27.5+ hardtail with a 120mm fork and it's all the bike I need. I don't ride bike park or flow trails with berms and jumps, because I don't bounce like I use to when I make a mistake. I do love good techy singletrack and black diamond, hand built stuff, but I am a wheels on the ground kinda guy who occasionally does smaller drops.
@GregAspenson

I like your style! I ride a 27.5+ hardtail as well and I’ve never felt like I needed anything more. I ride mainly blues and black diamonds.

I have a Mojo that I bought in 2006 custom for $6374, I gave to my next door neighbor kid. Needing a little assist at 70 I would go with the OSO. It was the first Ibis that Nikols put out when he bought Ibis back.

I sat on it in the store. Have not rode it. I have a 2019 and 2022 SW Levo. I just invested in Push’s eleven six shocks and a push nine one fork. The are incredible suspension made for me and the Levo. Made in Colorado.

I own a carbon ripley V4, a ripmo af, and a carbon hardtail similar to the DV9-most people need a ripley, the dv9 is a fantastic first mountain bike, or smooth xc race bike, and the ripmo is for people who want a smooth ride over super rough stuff. personally ride my ripley 85% vs the ripmo’s 15% my favorite is the ripley, I think the V4S is the single greatest all-round mountain bike ever🤘

I ride a ripley AF. handles washington chunk or jumps. not so much travel its a bear to bunny hop or jib. also a smidge slacker than the carbon Ripley. Its like the Toyota Tacoma of bikes: not the biggest or fastest but reliably takes every bit of abuse you can handle. great video and great choice of bike :)
@mrvwbug4423
@mrvwbug4423 Месяц назад
Yeah I think the only place a Ripley will be undergunned in the PDX area would be the Sandy Ridge double blacks, Thrillium, some of the optional lines on Fear and Loaming and the super rowdy stuff at Post Canyon. I took a Ripmo down Thrillium and even that felt undergunned on that trail.

Yup, the swiss army knife of bikes. There's nothing the Ripmo can't do. You'll think it's the ultimate bike for descending until you try an enduro bike, but the Ripmo is a better all around trail bike than any enduro bike.
