@@SuperRaedizzle The spring should be ontop of the base lid, not underneath. It should push the button up which lifts the stopper to block the drain hole.

You’re ain’t alone here. Every stationary stores like Expressions in the Philippines always stacked up poster colors. I have at least three to five of them.

@@SuperRaedizzle that’s why the spring is supposed to be outside the tank. To provide a tension seal. The spring should push the button up not the seal down.

Hmm, I think I know what you’re saying- the spring did not fit between the button and the plastic part

@@SuperRaedizzle its supposed to have tension thats why the it the spring on the button and push down it will fit. I have the exact same thing spring has to be longer than the button for tension so the plug can actually seal

As someone who works in the medical field…that heavy body acrylic paint is just too thick. If sure you could get it in there if you really wanted to but it would take a ton of fuss. It’d be worse than trying to draw up coagulated blood.

As someone who worked in hospitals as a Phlebotomist (blood drawer) for over a decade, I have no idea what you’re talking about a “particular way of using the syringe.” The paint was just way too thick to suck up.

@@Lexicoley1826 I am talking exactly about the paint being too thick and she also didn't use the syringe correctly. My father's a pathologist and I have seen him use syringe many times that's why I said if she could learn how to use the syringe correctly that hack might work.

Miyazaki uses watercolors for his illustrations, but film cels and backgrounds by the animators themselves most likely would’ve used poster paints or gouache. Watercolors probably wouldn’t hold up on cels.

I've used poster colours of a similar grade from the Korean brand ShinHan and I can say for certain that while the same learning curve with gouache also exists for them (as Rae had pointed out in the video, though I don't know if she was aware of how consistency plays a huge role in successful gouache application), they deliver a product quality that's on the same tier as brands like Holbein or Winsor & Newton while being much more budget-friendly, depending on where you buy them from - especially considering their volume. In Canada a 30mL jar of ShinHan poster color would cost around $7-8 CAD while Winsor & Newton ranges from $12-20 US and Holbein gouache can range from $8-23 US, both for a single 14mL and 15mL tube respectively.

@wayfaringspacepoet thanks, not sure how much cheaper they'd be here in the UK, but that's definitely something worth considering. To be honest, I hadn't even thought about the cost side of it all, I was more focused on the quality and whether the paints themselves are seen as better due to the hype of them being the 'Studio Ghibli' paints? Often, I find that 'viral' products are either successful because they have a gimmick, which, if not too highly priced for what they are, make the purchase worth it for the novelty value - a good example being the jelly gouache. Although compared to cheap student quality paints, they are a lot more expensive, for the amounts you get they're not massively overpriced so for the convenience of having a bunch of pre-mixed colours ready in a palette you can (the original small ones I mean, not the latest 56+ colours beastie) use on the go and the novelty value I would say they're worth it if you like those things. The other is stuff like (possibly) this, where a huge claim is made about the product that makes everyone and their mums want one and a big price attached, but without that claim, they would just be a middle-of-the-road kind of product with a huge price tag. It does make me wonder how much difference the Studio Ghibli claim made.
