If you want the TNT to explode instantly, place a TNT minecart and a dispencer with flint and steel next to the tnt (facing TNT minecart) Once you power the dispencer, it takes about a tenth of a second to blow up

You could make a crafting table type gimmick at the bottom so they can't mlg and kill them with fall damage cuz they aren't gonna die with the water there. You could also make this afk by adding a mincart with a hopper because they can collect items through blocks.
Zombies actually can't see things at the other side of glass, zombies think that glass is a full block like the other blocks. I actually don't know why they can't see through glass.

How an observer works: it gives a redstone signal behind it whenever something happens infront of their face, or when something happens through a block that they're facing
