The Dominican purple and Mascara def look like they've outgrown their enclosures. You always do such an amazing job on your enclosures that I love seeing the finished product :) I will ultimately enjoy whichever you decide to rehouse :)

Do you think that she could scaped? minute 1:35 , in the ventilation there is a hole and then she could be able to squish between the gaps. Maybe she is outside

as some have already mentioned, there is a hole in the ventilation at the top right. looks big to squeeze through, noticed very quickly in the video. so maybe there is a chance that she escaped and is loose in "the dark den".❤

I think she got out thru the one vent on the back side were your water hoses come through for your mister .the screen is pulled up . Might want to look around the dark den .

To be totally honest im not suprised by this outcome. Even if this was an arboreal species, that doesnt mean they dont move to ground level, especially in an enclosure that is so small (in comparison to a tree in the rainforest and the ground around it for example). I dont get these "experiments" anyway, being it communal enclosures of the same species or those mixed ones. For me its a perfect recipe for guaranteed losses and seems more of a way to create content instead of a healthy enviroment for your pets. As much as i like Petko, but that should be the last "experiment"- and further done for good.

You should have used the Jungle as a Communion this way the number of Bodies would decrease the amount of space so not much moving around but your 100% right.

I literally called this outcome from day one, but man that still sucks. Sorry it didn't work out.

I'm kinda suprised there isn't more backlash for Petko inevitably feeding one of his tarantulas to the other. I'd expect the more sensitive members of the community to be up in arms about this

Maybe a larger enclosure was needed? Edit: The purple one for rehouse. Also if you ever build a similar ultra large enclosure it might be neat to build it around a large full tree stump intact with roots in the center of the enclosure.

I think I'd most like to see the Chromatopelma Cyaneopubescens, the Pamphobeteus sp. Dominican Purple, and the Pamphobeteus sp. Mascara rehoused first. I think the two Pamphobeteus sp. need some the most due to their size and it'd be interesting to see the Chromatopelma make a new web

Sadly, anyone who has experience with arboreal tarantulas knows that they often come down to the ground. A lot of folks were watching this "experiment" with horror and frustration, as the outcome was inevitable. I REALLY hope that's the end of this type of experiment, Petko. If you DO somehow find her in there, please remove her. If not, what a waste...

Man the drama in these comments, over an experiment. Its called an experiment for a reason folks. Experiments aren't always successful. Crap happens, you learn from it, and move on. I get that donna is a living creature, and everyone is worried, but all the hate toward petko is utterly pointless and stupid.

Looking at the drama in the comments, you do know this is past tense right? This is AFTER he did it. You’re shouting “fire” long after the building burned. This includes the DM’s. Just because you know something doesn’t mean he knows it too. I don’t recall him deeming himself an expert or even a professional. Just a simple hobbyist. Also, he’s human. He’s gonna make mistakes. And just because you haven’t lost one doesn’t mean you won’t. If it feeds his one spider, it’s not unnecessary. What’s unnecessary is intentional and deliberate killing of the animal and throwing it in a bin. Let’s just hope he takes it as a lesson learned and not do it again.

Petko has always experimented. Some with great success, some not. How do you think we discover new things? It's not even a guarantee that Donna was eaten by Bella. She could've easily escaped, died of natural causes, bad molt, etc and the clean-up crew did its thing. Tarantulas can & do live in close proximity to one another in the wild, too. You can argue it's different & they're not contained inside enclosures, but Bella can't climb the same way Donna can, affording them the same chances of survival as if they were in the wild. There's no reason to get upset or angry about a keeper enjoying his hobby and trying out new things. He never purposely puts his animals in harms way for some sick thrill, or for views. A working mind is a healthy mind. He's always trying to come up with new ideas for education, fun, and discovery. He genuinely loves what he does & cares about his animals. It becomes obvious when we visibly see how torn up he gets when he loses any of his beloved animals. Expected or not. Donna has a huge advantage over Bella & it makes sense that they would be able to share a large enough space like this one without one nabbing the other. Like he said, for the first 2 months everything was fine. He even set up timelapses for personal observation to ensure he was being conscientious & not making a huge mistake from jump. Again, we don't know what happened. Some people are acting like he's evil for experimenting to find out what works & what doesn't. Again, this is nothing new to his channel & anyone who has been watching for more than a few months should know this. Please, go berate, shame & report the channels who are _actually_ harming animals for sick pleasure & views. It's absolutely disgusting & they don't deserve to have any kind of platform, let alone a monetized one. They deserve jail, or worse. Petko is a great keeper & one of the good guys. Through his trials, tribulations, errors, & successes, I & so many others have learned invaluable information & lessons due to him taking chances when it comes to this hobby.

Petko there is a large hole on the wall on the back of that enclosure where it looks like a vent area that has a torn part of screen. Maybe she got in there

I did notice some nibbles (or what looked like nibbles) on the background at 4:45 and the idea of another escape artist tarantula with the mesh being flipped up a bit on one of the ventilation ports 1:35 is also a possibility. Hope Donna is still alive she is such a Avicularia

If Bella ate the other Tarantula, wouldnt the remains be somewhere near her hide? If I understand Bella's type they dont really move that far from their home

Those native spiders in the enclosure are steatoda grossa and they are related to widow spiders and can give a painful bite that can cause severe swelling and naseu but not medically significant

My pink toes always came down to hunt at times, tough one, no disrespect, hard lesson. Personally I would rather the true spiders be out and the isopods safe, but it's your enclosure. Luv ya dude, somehow I never saw you setting this up or I would have given you a heads up.

Well…this sucks. Petko, even tho I don’t agree on some of your tarantula care methods, I recognize you are a great tarantula youtuber. However, this is unnaceptable. You have a lot of experience in the hobby, and the fact that you decided to risk the life of 2 completely incompatible species leads me to believe this was intentional, as there was no need to do this. STOP THIS EXPERIMENTS, your Ts don’t have to pay the price for your nonsense. (I’m sorry if I was rude, but this is really infuriating to me)

The "clover" look a lot like an acidic clover. I think it is called Oxalis acetosella in Latin.

A lot of people are defending this because of it being introduced as an "experiment", with this idea that petko is the first one to try it and "how will the hobby ever advance without people experimenting?". From the start those of us with experience with tarantulas were telling him that arboreals will end up on the ground from time to time, and it's well known with the hobby that tarantulas will eat other tarantulas,. This wasn't breaking new ground, this was refusing to listen to other hobbyists who told him what would happen (and the most cynical interpretation of this is that it was for views). Best case scenario of this "experiment" was that he'd have two different species of tarantula sitting around doing tarantula things in their own space, well away from each other (you know, like they do anyway, safe in their own enclosures). I fail to see how that would "advance the hobby"?

I expect that Dona was hungry went down to hunt a roach, and instead of a roach she found Bella.😢 The issue is most likely lack of arboreal dwelling pray for the arboreal tarantula to hunt, big moths or caterpillars or something like jungle nymphs or stick insects, mantises etc. She can only hunt in Bella's territory which is a risk of them meeting eachother. I hope this logic helps you see the issue Petko

My Arboreals like to fold a leaf and get inside. They are very hard to see afterwards. I hope that is what has happened.

Several of us told you this was going to happen. Its been tried many times in terrariums much larger than that one. While you think they dont move around, they actually do move around a lot and they know whats in the general area.

I am somewhat glad you're at least honest with your viewers, but I'm still mad you did this at all. Sure, they're your tarantulas, but it was a bad idea to begin with. So many people in the comments told you not to do it, to get her out of there. This whole experimenting with these animals to see what is and isn't possible needs to stop. And people defending this saying they're just inverts and why people like me aren't defending roaches being fed life to tarantulas: I think you gotta look at yourself and how you're keeping these roaches to begin with. I'm keeping mine relatively natural and feeding them fruits and dry food like fish food and oatmeal regularly. They live a great life and reproduce like crazy. I do feel bad for feeding them off, but my tarantulas gotta eat. Stop keeping them on egg cartons, if you suddenly worry about your roaches' well-being.

Been waiting for this update since she was rehoused in this enclosure.
