@@guineapig0983 It was Mr. Arnold's death that couldn't be filmed because of the hurricane. That scene was supposed to take place way earlier, at around the time Nedry also dies. The scene where Ellie trips on the dismembered Mr. Arnold's leg (which happens in this sequence in this video) was filmed, it just wasn't added into the final cut, presumably for pacing reasons. They actually finished creating the fake dismembered leg prop together with the arm prop that did make it onto the final cut, and a Jurassic Park collector actually owns both the fake arm and leg today.

Yes, it was very claustrophobic and had a real feeling to it in that bunker building, the sets that they filmed this movie it had a real feeling to it, minimalistic, the actors act as if it is real dinosaurs. Whereas in the newer movies they act as if the dinos. aren't there, because it most probably is cgi i think? They flash with more money, tech and budget, but still lame story & you sit and wish for them all to die lol

I really wish we saw the scene where Ray Arnold was attacked and killed. For those of you who don't know, this scene takes place in the book, but the scene was never filmed due to the devastating hurricane that hit Hawaii. This is important because as soon as Ellie is seen fleeing the raptor she is seen with a limp... She was supposed to trip over the severed leg of Ray Arnold and hurt herself. There is actually no explanation on how Malcolm knows how to read a schematic. But you just accept he is a scientist who knows that
@michaelyoung9753
@michaelyoung9753 Год назад

Reading a schematic can’t be too bad
@12HitCombo
@12HitCombo Год назад
"Show don't tell" is the number one rule of good filmmaking. Good storytelling doesn't require spelling out every plausible thing that occurs on screen. Maybe Malcolm worked in construction or something? Who cares? Would that have actually added anything to the movie if they had come out and had Malcolm say "Oh btw, I used to work in construction, that's why I know how to read a schematic!". No, they chose to simply show him able to do that completely plausible thing rather than spelling out that otherwise useless fact about him, and allowed us to fill in the blanks. Now if they had him displaying some completely implausible skill like hacking into the park's mainframe, or performing olympic-level gynmastics to escape the T-Rex, THAT would require some explanation earlier on.
@Yonkage-ik5qb
@Yonkage-ik5qb Год назад
To me, this is less about Malcom knowing how to read a schematic, and how Hammond doesn't. Further reinforces the reality that he's a stupid old man who can't do anything on his own and doesn't understand anything about his own creation. But it also represents his non-linear way of thinking: instead of trying to navigate the passageways, he just tells her to follow the giant power cables because surely they must lead to the power distribution center.

Muldoon's death is always tragic. As the audience we know it's coming due to Grant's earlier scene in the film when he's describing how the raptor's hunt in packs to scare the young boy. It still doesn't make it any less intense or scary, as we see how Muldoon is stalking the aplha raptor, but we know the other is stalking him. I always wondered what would have happened if Muldoon had this information as he was my favorite character.

I think Muldoon knew he was going to die but still tried. Remember when he told Ellie “because we are being hunted“? He told her to run for the shed while he moved forward saying “I’ve got her”. He was using himself as a distraction, but deep down I believe he had a feeling he was going to die. That is my perspective. I do not know if it would be actually true or not. Muldoon was my favorite staff member in the first movie, I wish that he did survive to tell the tale. RIP Bob Peck.

I work as an operator in a power plant and we have circuit breakers that are actually like the one in this scene. The reason she has to pump it is to charge the closing spring on the breaker, before she closes it on the left side you'll notice in yellow it says charged. And when she does close it in, the spring slams metal stabs into place into conductors on the other side. Normally done while wearing proper ppe, but when dinosaurs are on the loose, I suppose it's an after thought lol 😅

It usually requires an imaginative element that conveys the feeling of the moment and also hides its weaknesses. this shot is a great example. The way the puppet is moved into action and then the attack is obscured by those leaves. the way rattlle around gives so much feeling of violence and terror and really succesfully hides it's limitations. Just a really well worked shot that feels somehow more convincing than pure cgi shots that can depict anything they want.

Ofc Muldoon knew the Raptors were out... yet he has the experience of hunting big game killers but I dont think Lions or Tigers would "test the fence systematically". Arnold had no idea about the Raptor fences going off (even after he checked per Muldoon's request and after turning off the main power). Notice the door latch from the inside when the door closes behind Ellie. Exact same door latch as the one to the kitchen door and it doesn't fully return to it's latched horizontal position. When Ellie says "not unless they figured out how to open doors" coincides with the fact that the Velociraptor did in fact learn how to open doors as it would have been the same latch that it would have encountered in the maintenance shed, so by that detail alone, the Velociraptor that opened the kitchen door was the one in the maintenance shed.

It's fascinating how they took an underwater flashlight (which used to be more powerful than "land" flashlights of the same size) and modified it with a transparent hood so that it would lit Laura Dern's face. In reality, it would be pretty rather fastidious (if not blinding) to have so much light right in your face, but it works for the movie. Nowadays there would be no need for that - digital cameras are faster than film and read better in the shadows, so they would pick up the light bouncing off the walls (especially since nowadays they'd use high-grade LED flashlights).

Always wondered how Arnold was attacked. In the book, he didn’t have a flashlight so left the door of the maintenance building open and a raptor followed him in

In Jurassic Park The Game you have to restart the power systems again. Either Ellie did it wrong or it was caused by Billy Yoder messing with the lights during the game but it sent the power plant into a meltdown. At the power plant, Doctor Laura Sorkin turned the power off while Gerry Harding and two other guys vented the steam. Sorkin then pumped the primer and hit Push to Close which properly restored the power at the cost of triggering a failsafe that trapped the group in with a whole pack of raptors. In her journal, Sorkin complained that Hammond and Arnold kept the proper procedure amongst just a select few, but Sorkin figured it out for herself just in case she needed to know it.

Harder to see where your foot is landing when going down, couple that with him being a kid and in fear.

What happend to Tim in this scene with the fence, I really wanted it to be Lex so that Tim would cry for her/his sister since he teased her so much.

What Robert Muldoon should have known was that Rapter that Robert Muldoon was aiming his gun at in the distance, was looking dead at Robert Muldoon the whole time, just waiting for the other Rapter sibling to spring out of the bushes to attack from the side, kill, & eat Robert Muldoon.

Why is it necessary to say Robert Muldoon that many times? That was so unnecessary and repetitive.
