Evelyn and I have put in ALOT of work to get to where we are now. We are both successful without him. Im an account manager and my children are beautiful and happy

She has made the best of a bad situation and I think she probably is a very good mother given the circumstances, but we need to chill with celebrating single mothers who breed for wotless baby fathers. If we keep heralding them as "amazing", it will only worsen the massive (and growing) issue of single/ teenage motherhood in the black community. I never see a married couple in their 30s who successfully raise a child together called "amazing" by anyone. In reality THAT is what we should be praising and aiming for. Not this… this is actually quite sad.
@BT J I hear you....but the reason I described her as 'amazing' is because in spite of the man not being there, she and her daughter seem to be thriving. Surely, that's something to celebrate. Not to glamorise single motherhood but rather to highlight that she overcame all of her struggles despite the man having minimal involvement. For me, that's something to celebrate and be amazed by. It's inspiring and sends the message that we can achieve more than we initially thought/ realise ❤️

And of course relationships break up all the time, but clearly having a child at 16 with your first boyfriend, and having a child at 30 with your husband are two very different things. The latter has a far greater chance of keeping the family unit together. That is what we should be aiming for. Honestly, I can’t think of another culture that applauds single motherhood the way we love to for some reason. It’s not some badge of honour.
