Please please please insist on a Brain MRI every 3 months. A Grade 3 Astrocytoma even with good genetic markers is still unpredictable. My daughter had a GBM and she never went greater than 3 months. She also had good genetic markers, but her surgical team and oncologists at JHH advised that even with good markers they wanted to very closely survey her brain for a small changes. She was diagnosed in 2012 and had a very good quality of life until the last 12-18 months. Nicole was 0.07% of people with a GBM who survived greater than 10 years. Stay positive you are NOT a statistic and I hope you have DECADES of good health!
@@californiadoll6273 I think what they meant was, try to stay positive and optimistic despite hearing the statistics because you never know. It was intended to be a positive comment and didn't warrant a rude response.
@@endobyotic😊. I am not rude but I thought the same thing. I would not have wanted to read her post if I had this brain tumor. The doctor gave her hope, thst post did not.
Maybe it's time to do some extra work to make questions and find some answers. Family Constellations , EFT , Bowtech , .....and so many other methods and techniques are given to the world to find out and heal. God bless.
I love this beautiful video. Thank you. I’m a breast cancer survivor. I was like you when dx and in treatment: very open and talkative about my feelings and experiences. I hope your cancer becomes not only chronic but completely cured.
Hey Kelsey! There's so much in our stories that's the same. I also have astrocytoma, IDH1 mutant, but grade 4. My tumour was also 4 cm in diameter and was near the top of my head in my right frontal lobe. I just wanted to say hi and best of luck, from someone going through much the same thing (although my diagnosis and surgery was just this past July 2024).
@@carolineduff-riddell8109No, this is what happened after Obamacare came in and destroyed our system. Now we have to wait months for specialist appointments just like the Europeans
Few months ago my face, my hand , my foot started feeling numb/pins and needles. Basically half my body really. I for sure thought it was a brain thing (it kept getting worse too) , it could also be MS etc ....luckily for me... it was pinched nerves in my neck and back because of disc issues. But this is for people to understand sometimes things are or arent serious, but your health is the most important thing you have. Advocate for yourself, be serious, get checked, INSIST ON ITTTTTTT.
I have the same! Pinched nerve in the neck and half of my body has more numbness and weakness. It is face also and it is a clear line going down in the middle of my body. Plenty head scans and it is still only a pinched nerve which is wonderful news!
Even with favorable markers for mutation, be sure your oncologist and neurology team keep a close eye!! If I'm not mistaken, Glioblastomas are essentially Grade 4 Astrocytomas (can unexpectedly develop into the worst type). I'm definitely not trying to put a shadow on that hopeful news!! I'm glad her markers are favorable and appear to be non aggressive). Just have your team keeping an eye on you. Enjoy your life and love every moment. You are NOT a statistic you are a lovely being full of magic and wonder. None of us have an expiration date, only God decides our time here Wishing her the very best ❤
First when they want you to do a test NEVER DENY IT !!!! no one is ever too young to get anything health wise and I only say that because we were a family of 4 we had a son & daughter and living life our 7 yr old was always into sports he was playing football and started complaining that his knee hurt daddy took him to dr and he said I do not want to guess let’s do an X-ray the next day I stopped at the dr office and he told me he has a tumor on his knee 😭😭😫😫 I fell to my knees I was devastated 😭😭😫😫 rushed to hospital then told it was cancer 😫😫😩😩 we walked around on the pediatric cancer floor they were babies with cancer SO WHEN A DR SAYS YOU ARE TO YOUNG they really need a trip to a hospital 😡 then mom had neck surgery my neck was fused about 6 yrs later my FEET AND LEGS UP TO MY KNEES WENT NUMB I went to a neurologist and she did many tests and said everything was negative so this neuropathy is caused by your neck surgery 😩 and it never got better 😖 my brain is always telling me that I have socks on all they Vic way to my knees so I look down and I have NO SOCKS ON 😩 and it’s creepy walking when I can’t feel my feet 😩 I hope you continue to improve and stay strong for your daughter
I’m glad you’re doing well. I’m confused why the doctors thought the numbness could be due to a heart problem. The first thing that came to mind was a possible stroke which would’ve warranted a CT scan.
Cardiac issues / heart attack patients often have jaw / neck / left arm reactions & symptoms. So they always check the heart out if pain or numbness etc in left arm
The number of people getting diagnosed with cancer in the USA, some with no history of it in the family, I'm almost convinced it's the food. The pesticides and over processed foods. A lot of American food products are banned in European countries, because it's below grade. A lot of Africans who travel to the USA for business and conferences say they didn't enjoy the food, that it tasted like chemicals.😢

My daughter got brain tumor in 2015. Thankfully, it was removed and she needs no followup. Numbness and tingling were her first symptoms. Yes, life is fleeting. I’m thankful for the Gospel of the lord Jesus Christ. None of us are promised tomorrow.
I'm so sorry and frustrated that your symptoms were originally attributed to anxiety. Larger commentary: on the whole, "this or that" practice of mental health or physical health instead of a holistic picture is part of what holds medicine back. It's what constrains people like me from disclosing mental health concerns from a practitioner for fear that the information will bias or contextually trivialize physiological concerns. Investigate, track, and treat patients as if more than one condition can co-occur and plan for high risk, remote contingency scenarios.
OR RN here. They have to stay away from critical areas - areas that control bodily functions. That’s why they were checking her limb function mid procedure.
What a beautiful soul and her testimony touched me ❤️ May God put a hedge of protection around her and cover her with His blood. May she have decades more with her family. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen ❤️🙏 All things are possible through Christ.
