Similar weather here in the UK at the time the video was taken. Definitely a chill in the air during morning and evenings now. Surprised that a bearing has failed so soon on the new roller. I hope the CAT engine lives up to expectations. I like the F250, not sure l would want a "Mickey Mouse dash" though! 🤣🤣. Top video as always!

We put over a million miles on 1 3406e and 650k on the 2nd one they are great engines. We built the high mileage one when it started using oil but it was still pulling great. I would think the city(farm) miles would be the worst on one cause your starting and stopping all the time along with loading and unloading. Great video andy 👍

That frame doesn't look bad compared to what I've seen. The Kenworth I bought that I wanted the box built for turned out to be a lot more rusty than I initially thought. The cost to fix it was prohibitive, so I sold it. Thanks for the video Andy!

Those are awesome flashlights. My seeker 2 spent some time at the bottom of a bucket full of old gasoline and it survived that. I have yet to miss place or drop the 3 so far. I started using the plastic Holder I think just before you did either last winter or the winter before I can't remember, that's the only downfall with that one is sometimes the light can get caught on some thing and get pulled out but you still feel the holder so you don't notice the light is missing. I hear Duffy started using them now you're going to have to have your lawyer draw up a noncompete document and get it over to him haha

Allways nice to find something you lost. A long time ago I lost my favorite needle nose pliers maybe 10 years ago. About 2 years ago was thinking of them was thinking wish I had. Looked on the ground for some reason and there they were a little rusted.... but cleaned up and working now. Have a great day.

that roller is a new implement and the bearing needs to be replaced that's not good who ever made that thing should be paying for the parts and your time

My grandfather did the same thing you do Andy. He always used a old 5 gallon bucket to carry tools in you brought back a lot of childhood memories. I grain farm in ohio and started with a tool box in the bed of my truck. Now I have a very nice CM bed that was built for me and my needs and I only wish I would have done it sooner. I hope you get your truck and bed put together and setup the way you want it

As a retired over the road O/O and owning 5 Cat engines that gave me superb service I'm pretty confident that Cat dealer re-build would have been north of $35,000...hopefully you'll get great service from your investment. My biggest concern with this particular unit would be frame jacking especially with double rails...take care sir and I wish you a very good fall harvest.

The Cat 3406E is one the very best tuck engines ever built. I would overhaul one any day before looking at the def drinking junk. Money well spent in my opinion.

Awesome video. Good to see the W 900 back on the farm. Two years ago now I got the same exact level, the platinum rebuild kit on our W 900. It was just under 30,000 hours it was like 29 and change, so far it has been excellent. I had planned on putting it off another year and I saw the truck go by the shop door one day with a ton of blow by. When I pulled off the oil pan I found one of the plastic plug things that CAT uses to retain the wrist pins had worked its way out and was in the oil pan. The wrist pin got into the sleeve. I don't know if the 3406 engines use that same style, ours only has a C 12 in it. did you get any extra warranty? I remember right there were a few options to choose from. I did the three year

It’s always a very good idea to replace the harmonic balancer on a rebuild. Tiny vibrations will drive you nuts and you would never suspect where it comes from. Pittsburg power highly recommends replacing! Hopefully Jared won’t drive this like a nascar. Lol!

Don't be too concerned about the shaft being bent, your issue would be is the OD of the roller running true, which it seems to be doing in the video. My opinion is that the roller manufacturer did not use the proper kind of bearing on the shaft. I feel it should be a tapered roller bearing in a sealed housing. Your present situation would be to make up protective housings to cover the bearing and shaft ends, to keep water and dirt out of the bearing. The "bell housing", You definitely, with all the projects you have going, should make a concerted effort to find a real good machine shop. Unless the out of flatness is too sever and the housing would be too thin if resurfaced, it could be resurfaced on a Blanchard grinder or planer. Keep up the good work! JIM 🤩

Well, with a little bit of dampness, you don't have to worry about a risk of fire with the chopper. Take the small victories when you can.

That rebuild should give you many years of good service! I think you made the right call to do the total rebuild instead of the piece work repairs. That truck has some good specs for a farm truck!

Could always use liquid nitrogen to freeze your parts would have to wait overnight. If you had an extra seamen tank could get it filled at same time other tanks are filled. I used to get my tank filled by select sires for free.

30,000 hrs impressed me. The off road haul trucks I worked on were rated for either 16K or 18K hours. Lots did not even make that.

you added that the right hand side runs true and prob doesnt bugger the bearings up , its bad manufacture the mounting for the stub axle is on the skue and will never be right , and youll be replacing bearings for ever , look what happens when you spin it , the centre of the bearing is moving in the housing ,so with a bit of dirt you have grinding paste , then bearing failure again !!!!!!!

40,000 hours on an over the road engine is quite different from the way your trucks are used. Drivers also make a big difference.

Anytime you redo one of those 34 0 6 East right on down to the bees the bees it's always advisable to line bold to lynnborough they done you right by Pole on it right out theright out that way there she's good for another 2 300000 maybe more depends on the atmosphere that it's run in

glad you showed the drum turning after the new bearing was fitted , youlll be fitting new bearings for ever , the drum hasnt been made to run true in the factory , youll end up putting a shaft right through to get it to run true, trust me i know i had a power hqrrow which had 2 2mtre crumblers on the rear , same thing for ever replacing bearings , untill i put one piece shafts through the centre , then when you spin it it has to run true , ok , it makes sense when you do one an see the shaft run true , regards to you all from the UK

Andy I’m not telling what to do that bell housing is kinda hard to come by that bell housing can be fixed a lot of that cat will let you spend a lot of money that not needed well are cat store is bad for that they will shoot the part cannon at it and I’d say they put a pass word on your computer so you can’t go in there and change a couple of things but all you need is a password generator but your warranty goes out the window

In a generator or application were it is at rated hp. Last lot longer. The up and down and idling ect. Hard on engines
