I have to say... of all the short game stuff I've watched online (this channel included), THIS video gave me immediate positive results on the course. I usually lost one to two strokes via a flubbed chip on muddy ground, etc. Hopefully this will no longer happen. Almost all my chips last round got within 10 feet, and that's huge for me.

From a coach’s point of view, you will have to lose the ego and attain an egoless state - as at the start ,you clearly felt awkward hitting a poor shot! That’s why people go for lessons and is the purpose of lessons , lessons are the place to show where your game needs lessons!!

Why didn't the video finish about how to practice?????
@Dreama40
@Dreama40 Год назад
I practice rotating back and through(waste to waste height) with a HEAVY object such as a medicine ball etc which really helps me stay connected and engages my bigger core muscles which minimizes wrist action and achieves this one piece (stricker type)shallow technique far easier. ps.. I've personally found that having a touch weight forward improves my contact on most of my chipping shots just don't over do the weight forward or shaft lean, I'm around 55front/45back(make sure it stays there from start to finish, it will probably be more at the finish in truth), but if you start 50/50 there is a tendency to fall back slightly on the downswing)just a tad!! I'm a plus 4

Very good instruction and presentation. Distance control with the same length of swing can easily be achieved by varying the club but I guess it's a matter of personal preference and conditions of play.
@industrialpalletworx3548
@industrialpalletworx3548 Год назад
Sure. You can also move up and down the grip too. This is the basic technique. There's a lot more information that wasn't shown. Pick your spot and land it there. Trajectory control, spin control, how to make it roll out a little further. Lots more missing and he didn't touch specialty shots. High lob, flop shot, low spinner, cut wedge, plenty missing.

Brendon thing is that alot of us could do what Parker is teaching here at the practice range, but when on course whether its a match or a friendly wager one chip goes wrong and the entire confidence goes out of the window. How to handle this aspect of practice?
@industrialpalletworx3548
@industrialpalletworx3548 Год назад
Repetitions will give you confidence. Take away the flag and the hole. Pick a spot to land the ball and focus on that target. Once you gain the confidence to hit your spot, no more worries.
@-Thunder
@-Thunder Год назад
Repetitions until it's unconcious. Once you have the stroke working, then practice no two shots from the same place to simulate real golf. I got that idea from another short game coach for tour pros. I usually take two balls and play an 18 hole game where I putt everything out. You need to eventually get the brain off mechanics.
@industrialpalletworx3548
@industrialpalletworx3548 Год назад
@@-Thunder yep. I play that 18 hole game as well, but I vary it. Sometimes 1 ball Sometimes 2, Sometimes 3. 1 ball 1 hole, 2 balls 2 different holes, etc. The best part is when you really start to challenge yourself to make it and not settle for just getting it close. It's a great place to be. Developing several different types of shots from the same lie and distance helps as well.

This instruction seems to encourage a behind the ball strike. Don’t we want a bit of shaft lean, weight more on lead foot, and ball turf contact?
@BEBETTERGOLF
@BEBETTERGOLF 7 месяцев назад
Parker wants to to hit turf first and slide into the ball. He calls it a professional drop kick.
@rw_golf6387
@rw_golf6387 7 месяцев назад
@@BEBETTERGOLF That can work if you have a fair amount of grass under the ball but a very dangerous shot for a tight lie. Very easy to blade the ball over the green. IMO striking the ball first works for all lies and results in more consistent distance control.

I've been struggling with chipping yips on and off for years now. Play links golf and we get really tight lies. I've been told so many times to shorten backswing but haven't really understood how. I would use my hands and arms a lot. Going to try this. Out of interest would you recommend this on a smaller scale for putting? Also why do Pro golfers stand with there feet close toghter chipping and wide apart putting? Surely if a wide stance keeps you more staple for putting it would keep your balance better for chipping as well.
@BrentoftheUTube

It should be honored and cherished, passed on through the thoughts and ideas of everyone who has ever come to love and enjoy this great game. I hope you'll realize that these "mopes" are simply trying to help everyone enjoy, or "BE BETTER" at golf, and not just encroaching on your hallowed ground. If you don't see it that way, and your righteous indignation is any indication of your teaching style, I hope any of your students will second guess your tutelage.
