Stunning image, and a lovely tribute. Sorry for your loss. If you want to add another time-saver to your workflow; After Star Aligning, do a Star Removal, either with StarNet V2 (free), or RC Astro's StarXterminator (license), both available as plugins for Pixinsight, on the HOO and the RGB. Then open the starless HOO and the RGB stars as layers in Photoshop and blend them as you normally would.
@AstroBooth
@AstroBooth Год назад
I wanted to second this. I process similar to the above. I use a one shot color camera with an L-Extreme filter due to my light-polluted skies. So to get better stars I shoot a few hours with the L-Pro filter. After I align the images I will remove the stars using RC Astro's StarXterminator and then use pixel math to insert the RGB stars back into the image. Love your videos, thanks for keeping us motivated in this hobby.
@skenderovicbusantelivia5282
Your should do more "at the computer" style videos... It is a blast to watch you and hear you explain steps to achieve stunning results, and you just keep the viewer on their toes when it comes to the result. Amazing video man, keep it up!

Excellent image Trevor, I love this Target, you got a lot of details for 13hrs, Ive just done a colab on this target, 51 hrs of HOO, video going out in a couple of days! How did you get the difraction spikes in the image with your refractor? They definately add to the image! I was using my Esprit120 refrctor, my colab partner 'Astrobloke' was using an SCT. Great video mate. Clear skies!

Excellent image! Apparently WR134 was one of the first emission line stars Charles Wolf and Georges Rayet found, in 1867. So technically, the designation refers to the star not the nebula, which I can’t imagine they could have seen, even with the 40cm telescope they used. But it doesn’t seem to have any other designation, like a Sharpless or Cederblad number. It’s not marked on the Millennium Star Atlas. Nor on the hugely detailed TriAtlas, as best I can tell, as it is so crowded. Anyway, great capture! Definitely an OIII filter object.

Absolutely amazing as always, this hobby can be all about pushing ourselves to the limits! I also agree with the starlink stuff, I’ve seen about 3 Passovers at my house and it’s definitely a growing issue, maybe our image stacking programs will remove these in the future for us if they get really bad, but hopefully not for a while :)
@andrewlongman6308
@andrewlongman6308 Год назад
Something to note on the starlink satellites: these are recently launched and moving to their grid locations. After there are in place they stop emitting light - the lighting is to wow people on the ground during the launch sequence. In fact, there are hundreds of starlink satellites in your FoV every night, throughout the night in Ontario, you just cant detect them with your scopes as they don't emit light. Kind of funny to see people complaining about the launches but fail to understand just how many are already in orbit that are completely invisible to us on the ground.
@3DAstroTC
@3DAstroTC Год назад
I've adopted a similar technique the past few months, RGB stars over narrowband nebulae. Works great so far! I need to revisit this one for more OIII data, c'mon Hyperstar!

I commented before I heard your comments, so I felt the need to come back and comment more. I have for decades now looked up outside my house to watch the satellites go over my house this is not a new thing. I have to say that I don't see any more today then I did before Starlink. Yes you see the train like you showed here, but that is before they have spread out to their final altitude. SpaceX did listen to the worries of astronomers and have done a lot to try make them naked eye invisible. I guess time will tell, I thinks its to late to turn back now.

Hey, I live in Alberta Canada. And I see the star link satellites almost every night, I have seen them hundreds of times, and they do not look like your video, when I first saw them a year ago, they looked close together like your video. But now when they pass over you can only see a few at a time as they are so spread out. They take much longer to travel across the sky. I will try to catch a video, it is crazy how much different it looks from southwestern Canada!

Oh, so very sorry about Zeek, Trevor. Guess we're all star bound eventually, though. Great capture and so, so interesting! Beautiful image as well. I'm pretty new to monochrome imaging and I've got a lot to learn, but I saw first-hand that the stars in narrowband leave a lot to be desired so I started capturing RGB stars. However, I haven't yet tried to integrate them back into the narrowband images. Is there a way to do this directly in PixInsight? Thanks so much as always for the great information and tutorial, Trevor!

My parents live in a rural area, where they only had access to dial up, even today. They got a starlink and for the first time have had access to high speed internet and basically shat themselves.
