I took home a lab test dog. Here's what happened. 

Rose! What a beauty, those sad eyes. I’m in tears. People & organizations that pimp animals, like Rose, deserve a lifetime ban on having a pet or animals. Thank you for treating Rose with love and respect.

When I went to Oregon State Univ, over 50 years ago now, I worked in the animal research facility; my major was pre-vet. At the time, they were testing the early versions of the flea and tick collars for dogs and cats that are now common. There were about 10-15 dogs and the same number of cats. Those animals were caged, but twice a day were let free to run all over the place while their runs and cages were cleaned. The man who ran the facility was kind and caring, and very careful that every animal under his care had the very best life they could have. Several of the cats were temporarily donated, and went back to their owners at the conclusion of the tests. The dogs were petted and talked to during their runarounds, and all ran back to their runs at the conclusion of the cleaning, tails wagging. My point is, not all facilities need to be torture chambers. Some testing is truly required. The attitude of the facility caretakers defines the treatment of the animals, whether rats and mice, cats, dogs, cows (yes, there were three cows--not sure what for), and they can be treated kindly. It sickens me that all facilities are not like the one where I worked as a very young woman.

Tears in my eyes for this poor baby who never deserved that treatment.

Years ago I took part in a rescue of lab animals: rats, mice, rabbits, cats, and a few beagles. We broke into a lab and filled two vans with about 50 of these creatures. Most of the people involved kept the animals; I took the rats since I had experience with them. I have never forgotten the sheer joy these animals showed when they realized they were escaping from torture to real homes.

God bless you for rescuing Rose and shutting down these awful facilities. I donate to Beagle Freedom and hope that everyone watching will as well.

I don't understand the people who can work around these animals and just ignore them and their suffering....Rosie was 8 and had not idea what it was to be loved....is being heartless a prerequisite to work at such places? It must be because otherwise it would be impossible to witness this and continue partaking in this cruelty.... Thank you forever for being a part of this rescue and adopting sweet mama Rose. For years I wrote letters, donated and generally made a nuisance of myself in trying to get the facilities shut down. At one point it just seemed hopeless to me. If I had any part at all I'm so so grateful. For anyone who doesn't know animal testing was and has been written into law for approval of many drugs and skin related products. So it isn't just corporations that should be held to account but also Congress who has the power to rewrite legislation.

There is no reason to do lab testing on dogs or any other animals; Science, computers and technology are so advanced, and there are numerous ways to test medicines and chemicals without torturing and harming innocent animals. This practice should be outlawed and illegal because of the cruelty and pain involved.

These laboratories whether university or other institutions need to be prosecuted for animal cruelty. I dropped out of my biology major because of the animal cruelty being perpetrated in our lab classes. It's horrendous, gratuitous torture.

Please leave Rose with at least one of her puppies, she's had such a rough life. That lab robbed years and happiness of her life, let's have her have that joy by keeping her with one her puppies.

Rose is such a beautiful precious dog! Seeing her love for her babies, caring for them as she does is one of the best, most heartwarming things I've ever seen. That she has finally been able to experience the joy of getting to be a beloved, happy dog who now gets to feels safe is too wonderful to adequately put into words!
