The Space Bears are why I cared about Tabletop Time reviving in the first place. So thrilled to see they awakened from their sleep.

The mashup of the Viking asthetic with Native American is really cool, especially since those two groups did interact!

LONG HAVE I WAITED… for an update to this project. So jealous of the concept of this army. It all works so well, the colors for different ranks corresponding to bear types, the aesthetic, the lore. Bears are my favorite animal as well. As a Space Wolves player I just appreciate this so much.

The second I saw the shields and claws, I fell in love with the design. Well done to you and Puppetswar for all your hard work thus far. It's not every day you get a custom Chapter with custom models and bits made for you, so living the dream right there ^^ Can't wait to see more

The amount of lore that you could make for this chapter is huge. Use inspiration from Native American legends and stories, and the natural behaviors of bears. Here’s one example. The space marine organ (can’t remember it’s name) that causes the marine to enter suspended animation is flawed in away that it activates on it’s own. It activates every so often. So the chapter is rarely at full strength, but on the rare occasions were everyone is up they hold celebrations or gone on a massive campaign. Also the hibernation flaw could also play into how they interact with other imperial forces. Do they hid it and be secretive to not show weakness, or do they keep close ties with local imperial forces for added protection?

This video came up at the best possible time. I've been trying to nail down my custom chapter's aesthetic and I've been slowly cannibalizing bits from White Scars and Space Wolves kits to get that grizzled, almost shamanistic tribal look with furs, chains, to capture that kind of primal hunter vibe. My lore for them is that they're basically one of those rock supergroups that meet up and temporarily form a superchapter called the Warp Hunters, they're all about the shared goal of hunting and taming the various beasts and horrors of the galaxy. A bit like the Deathwatch, except these guys know how to have fun and are always looking for new people to join the party. Looks like they're getting some reinforcements from the Space Bears. Adding to cart as I type this!! 😍

Note: watch out when you help someone yo create a custom 40k chapter because chances are he: - Will get overly detallistic about it (nothing bad about it) - Will create an amazing model, and probably one of the top 5 of the Best actual 40k style. Anyways, if this chapter someday have a codex, well I want to buy it but my main "issue" with it (if we call it like that) is if this chapter don't have a genertic flaw that makes the battle brother have some kind of gigantism like the Sons of Anters (I think that was the name of the chapter) or something like the huge size of Tiberios, chapter master of the Carcharodons, but on the long run like the wulfen curse, or "the blesseds" of the Black Dragons. I don't know, is just something about this chapter that makes me think, what could be the flaw inside their chapter if we relate it to the traditions or general look of the chapter? they are the Space Bears after all, and bears are...well, generally really huge, strong and intimidating. I repeat, those are my thoughs about a potential flaw of the chapter, still, if they indeed have one or a couple completely different in relation of what I would like to see, I'm not complaining. Will buy them, collect and play with them a lot.

I really love the Astra Primursa. If i had a 3d printer i totally would get the stl's. Those guys are totaly canon now in my head.

An interesting idea for the Chapter Master would be that a single talon of his claw is of a shining gold that never dulls. Chapter legend says that this talon comes from the Emperor's Lightning Claw! How that came to be long forgotten. The ecclesiarchy dismisses the claim (if not, the thing would be one of the most holy artifacts and there would be a little civil war for the talon). Bears continue to believe thou, and it's passed from chapter master to chapter master for thousands of years. Also, their main war cry should be "Tear the enemies of the Emperor apart" or simply "Tear them apart" (because of the hole "claw" thing). Your unique army is amazing! Congratulations on this awesome job. This really should be canon... (you there GW?)

Needs a character names Urktos/Arktos. Theyed be a great chapter to use deliberately caused nuclear winter as a weaponry. Launching a bunch of missiles loaded with nuclear warheads, greenhouse gasses and doped with hyper efficient coolant and reflective material into the planets atmosphere causing surface temperatures to drop to absolute zero within the span of a few hours. This effect can be global, or localized so that only one portion of the planets surface is affected at any one time, effectively creating a bubble where oxygen and nitrogen literally freeze out of the air, leaving nothing to breath. Anything organic on the surface is a dead, frozen statue, murdered at the cellular level by ice crystals which rapidly form inside its cells. Then the bears, in their glorified environment suits descend in drop pods and exterminate anything which manages to survive the cataclysmic change in climate. This strategy is known as declaring hibernatus.

I always wanted a "Space Bears" chapter over a decade ago, and you've sort of nailed what I wanted to go for. Great job dude!

You’re a big reason I got into the hobby and discovered all the wonderful hobby RU-vid channels, and I’m definitely going to pick up some space bear bits, these look amazing!

So hyped for you man, I loved your chapter and I hope they get big enough to break into the lore in a couple editions. Bits look really cool, as someone without a 3D printer I have a minor request (more for the shop than you specifically I guess, but it's your project) and another minor suggestion. The request: would it be possible to break the bits options down? Specifically in my case I like the parts but have no use for the bear helmets myself. I'd very likely snag a set of bits if the option existed to leave out the parts I won't use to save a bit more money. The suggestion: An option to print the bust at model scale, so people like me who don't have a printer can still have it as a model.

These guys look so goddamn good. I adore them. They all look so scary but also so friend shaped. As friend shaped as anything in WH40k can at least.

Jazza, one comment...... being part Cherokee myself here in North Carolina, I love the idea. Bears are awesome and choosing North American Native American culture is cool too instead of the normal viking theme. The renders imo still look very Northern European like faces, kind of like the new HH jaga khan is suppose to be Asian but he looks like Goldberg. Not all native american tribes could or would grow full beards/mustaches or much less keep facial hair, it tends to be very spotty. Now since I'm 1/8th, I can grow an almost full beard but it takes a lot longer. All and All, I love the idea of the Space Bears! I had wanted to do something like that for years but I'm not good with greenstuff and didn't want to buy space wolves to try to convert.

Most companies would have waved you off after the first few changes, but puppetswar showed that they are in this for their love of the art and artistry. I'm also more of a D&D nerd, but my favorite creature ever in that game is the werebear, which could very well be added into the lore of the space bears, so maybe in the future I'll end up making my own army, just to be able to add werebears into the lore

Fantastic models. Also it’s awesome that you went for bears. Bears are amazing and need more love especially in Warhammer.

I think a cool piece of lore would be for the Space Bears to keep themselves in stasis until they are deployed to the battlefield. Maybe they are huge even for Primaris and they're larger bodies use more energy which causes them to experience wear and tear faster. Chapter serfs and ranking officers run the monastery while the rank and file marines slumber waiting to be deployed. Orders for upcoming missions are distributed subliminally while the marines sleep and they basically are deployed straight from stasis, ROARING yawns billowing across the battlefield as they spring to life.

Yes! I’ve been waiting for some space bears stuff for ages!

the claws are a finominal idea and it gave me an idea where there can be a special unit who is almost so wild that he is held back by other space bears due to him acting more like a literal bear and he wields 2 claws and in many (but not all) hibernating bears who act as such are put in drug comas until the bears run into a situation where being so wild will benifit them for maybe taking on tanks or armored positions and their animalistic nature combined with the claws will allow them to pinpoint weak spots through smell and tear heavily into it while minimizing damage to the whole unit or platoon. this can be a rule called "the bear's instinct" and in lore if not in combat or hibernation they will literally walk on all four limbs and is literally fed raw fish but still maintains common sense to understand basic orders and also can be a very rare ocurence where the space bears say its the "spiritual merging" of marine and bear spirit. I know this has been a bit of me just spitballing and this may be similar to rules and lore to pre-existing chaptors (i do apologize) but this has been my first time watching a home made chapter be put together and i think its amazing as a newer warhammer fan! to sum it all up i really like the idea you have and just want to share some ideas and all my support! keep doing what you are doing knowing you have people who care and enjoy what you do backing you up in your corner!

I think the claws and helmets could also be used to turn heavy intercessors into PRIMARIS DEATHWING!!! Also modifying the other weapons from terminators for heavy intercessors would probably work to round the rest of the units needed. I can also see the Ravenguard making good use of those claws on their incursors. I think those claws will be very popular indeed, since they can replace claws for anyone (Space Wolves, Chaos Marines, Orks, Necrons, etc.). Thank you for inspiring creativity. I love this idea it is so cool and the first model you made in the first video was so good probably the best model I have ever seen and with Pete The Wargamer’s kitbashed models in the mix that is saying something, because Pete makes the best models I’ve ever seen.

It's hard to imagine, but if Citadel Workshop had made each chapter as cool and flavorful as yours, it would have significantly improved an already great intellectual property.

Have you thought about basing different troops (mainly there paint jobs or little detail aspects) around different species of bears? I love the look of them and can't wait to see more of them, but curiosity got the better of me and I had to ask.

I got really inspired by your space bears and made my own variant called The Scarred Eyes I stead of Bears and Wolves I went with Tigers for the fur, and I found a tool to pinch fur into plasticine so I got that whole thing set up for a figure and it's a good contrast to their purple armour
