They do, but the scammers keep showing up, just like the bots. Scammers also require manual work, while most bots are automatically nuked. That means it will naturally take a bit more time.
@@CottidaeSEA It ain't easy to make hundreds of mils. Takes a LOT of time. And it's very easy for them to track the source of where the money came from, AKA banning alts. Literally only way to get around it easily, is to make newer accounts and buy gold. Which should easily trigger the system
@@SleepyStreak It's possible for them to create a trigger in their database which activates if a player receives a lot of money, or sells something at the GE for a disproportionate value. That way they can send a report for staff to check out and verify the validity of the trade. I'm guessing that they already have a similar system in place though.

I'll never forget playing rs classic, back when it was the only kind of rs. This ass named "Fatal Abacus" manipulates my 12 year old dumb ass and promises me all of these riches through this "business idea". All I wanted was a santa hat and I didn't have the delayed gratification skills to save up the 100k it used to cost lol. Basically he manipulated me perfectly, I would fish and cook a certain amount of lobsters every day and in the end he bought a red mask a green mask with the gp and never let me have one. I'm amazed I was so stupid as a kid. You had to cert things back then in draynor village, so it took forever. 100k actually meant something in classic.
seeing people devote that much time to ripping people off makes my stomach sick and in knots. scammers have only gotten smarter since I first played when they were only trimming armor and doing trust trades. I like how you taught him a lesson and I respect that you took time out of your day to do it. there's a lot of new sympathy scams out there also where pieces of s*** profit off of the care and compassion of the community.
I feel like such an idiot the last time I was scammed. Dude said "giving half gp shown on trade table" So I got out all my expensive gear, traded him, he put of half the value and for some reason my stoned ass accepted the trade without removing my items.
@@ZedGames I've had a guy do the exact same to me too, he was putting up +15m for my items and accepting on the second window before declining straight away. I didn't fall for it when he tried to quickly remove the cash though and he stopped rewarding me after he'd given me like 2m or 3m.
i lost 60m to something similar, he was trading me quickly giving me a couple mill at a time. he would always click accept first adding more and more money. eventually they get you. theyre so smart

Dont know why they dont just add the thing they have on rs3. Whenever something is changed you can't click accept for a few seconds.. would solve all the scams in osrs

I so totally agree, what alot of people dont realize is scamming actually have some good irl lessons to learn about the world. This one time I was traveling to catch a flight the Ferry was running late and we had to catch the other boat so i got a ride from someone and some random guy was offering him to carry a package to give to some other Guy across the other island which is in US territory and i told him to dont accept and high tail it out of there as that package could've been drugs.
Something simple would be they put a 2-3 second timer on the second trade window. This way you’ll have to wait to click accept, giving you the time to check over everything.
We're All Thieves yet with the timer it would basically be their own fault not to use the time to check over the trade...? So surely if there is a timer and you still get scammed, it’s on you.
They’re getting smarter. A person at he around 43 was asking for food to train, so I gave them a little to start out with. She/he asked for more food from others after the trade
In a game called Maple Story it's so hard to scam because when you put anything in the trade you can't remove it unless you re-trade and start over. Simple mechanic, doesn't hurt anybody, and it works.
he wasn't training, though. he was 100% trying to scam. He was not only conditioning the guy to click accept, but making him more comfortable in hopes that he would make a mistake. He wasn't training scamming, he was literally scamming. The giving of the money is also to force you to make a mistake. Dude gets a random person 25m, that person is going to be happy and lose concentration. If you think that guy would have given back his items on the account of a mistake zed games making a mistake, you're wrong.

So the only way to genuinely get better is to use real people risking a lot and working towards tricking them. You cant fake that experience with a friend and its not the same kind of experience with a noob.
Nah he wasn’t practicing, if u see at the last trade he does he puts up like 600 and some m, then he changes it to 375m then he switches it to 37.5m right before the final accept. Hoping he would not notice the 375m now said 37.500.000, he tried to get him the very last time then offered him 5m to do it again
Chase Chex “Dropping 150m”, follow him up stairs somewhere in Varrock. He drops a bunch of rune items and maybe a few more expensive ones worth a bit more like 500k item. Then says “doubling money” does a few fake ones doubling 30m, 10, 5 etc. Someone falls for it and traded them their cash stack and he logs. This happened a few days ago, some guy lost 20m since he believed that shit lol
I had this same scam happen to me. After I took the guy for 14m, he tried to do the scam. I declined and started dancing. He didn't like my dance moves unfortunately.
There's a private server called soulsplit and the trade won't let anyone accept for 3 seconds if a change has been made. I think osrs should do the same
Scammers are incredibly resourceful. They will even create fake YT vids on how to beat a particular scammer, then fake you out on a similar, but alternate scam. As Zed Games said, do. OT try anything. Don’t engage and just report.
Look at 7:55. You click on "accept" when he has 706m up, then you moved your mouse out of the "accept" box and THEN his offer changes to just the 3 monkfish?!?!?!? Your mouse was never hovering over the "accept" box when he only had 3 monkfish in his offer, so there's no way the game should register that you are accepting his offer for only 3 monkfish. How are you able to click accept for 706m...move your mouse away from the accept box... and then it shows that you have accepted when he only has 3 monkfish up. Trading in osrs needs a hotfix.
His click on "accept" registered in the exact game tick that the scammer removed the coins causing both to happen simultaneously. How he got it on the exact same tick... Well probably just luck. Edit: spelling.
Nope. I've done this before, I myself used a simple AHK script that did a everything within like 2 game ticks, removing X amount of cash, removing all cash and click accept in the same 1 or 2 ticks. You click accept on the 700m, and you press the keys your assigned the macros to(which is like 1-2 ticks) and by that time most people will press accept too, and if you've tricked them into accepting fast, you can get them. I usually gave about 1-5m and sometimes got people for well over 50-100m+. If they get you, you should only lose like 5m max depending on items the victim shows. Also this is the reason they're all on low lv accounts, it's bannable.
This works because of the tick system in osrs. You press accept at the same time he swaps the money. The change will be visible at the start of the new tick but he has already pressed accept so the money change won't be shown on the 1st trade window
Its so easy to just look at the total amount on the 2nd trade screen, if its red u decline, if its white you accept, ive made so much off these scammers lol
It's no so easy. Most of these scammers don't let you have enough time to read 2nd screen. They will accept right away on an offer that would give you money, but immediately decline before most people accept. It's just to condition you to fall for the eventual scam. If you have time to look at 2nd trade screen, you've only encountered weak scammers.
Someone tried this on me 5 years ago. I got frustrated with him trying to sell me a fake bond for 5m, so I reverse engineered the case and took it off his hands for 500k! (He was so busy trying to scam me that he got himself anti-scammed!) - he had absolutely nothing to report me about, and I honestly found it really funny! 🤣
Best solution really is to just ignore it. Hear me out: I’m not being condescending and putting you down for engaging, I’m saying that ignoring them will eventually take away it’s power. Once you start ignoring these scammers they’ll soon realize that their tactic isn’t working and over time this type of scammer will die out. In short: IGNORE SCAMMERS.
Got scammed not long ago by a mil, sold zamorak set for 1.4m and instead of 1400k he gave me eventually 140k, disgusting, and than that shameless dude traded tried to sell it back for more than I offered, got his name somewhere and reported him. He tried to bargain at first and than settled, more alerted since than and managed to cover the loss pretty quickly.
I interacted with one of these guys, got home for 45m because I caught him accept the second window when he had 260m to my 215m and it was glorious, easiest 6 months worth of bonds I’ve ever gotten
Not a glitch, just someone manipulating you with the use of the games time system, 0.6 seconds (1 tick) that anything takes to register. Super simple and with some alright timing anyone can do it, the method he used to train you into accepting is the only thing that takes some practice.

Not so much a glitch, just a timing thing. He's not just trying to condition you to click accept on the second screen - a major part of it is that he's trying to condition you to click accept when he changes the amount of money. You get used to him changing it from 700M to 600M or whatever, and hitting accept when he does - so then what he tries to do is time removing most of the money for the exact same time you hit accept. If he times it right, you'll never see the amount of money change until the second screen, and because you're accepting quickly, you'll give him your cash.
I quit RS back in 2010, and doubled people's money, eventually giving away my 600m bank. When I think about it now, it wasn't a great thing to do as the people I traded may believe other people are being generous in the future when they offer to double, and end up getting scammed :-/ .
i remember getting scammed years ago. before the 2 stage trade window. i bought 1k sharks for 1mil. he switched it to 1k noted tuna and i didn't even notice until i went to get sharks a few hours later. :(
The scammers rely on human greed to scam you. I took a scammer yesterday for 250k than read about the scam later. He trades you money and beer over and over and says it's a mistake to Gain your trust to give him the money back. This scam leads you into trusting him to trade you all your gear and he shows you "dream" gear in trade and says trade me first than ill give you this in return. Overall he takes your items and Logs out. I just decided to take the free 250k cuz why not. After I swapped world's on him.
Back in 2009ish I played and killed hill giants for a long time with a nice guy. After some time the guy started repeatedly asking to get my password. While the person seemed nice, I politely tried to tell him no, but he kept prying many times. THIS is where it get interesting, I got muted. I was VERY surprised and I had no idea what I had done wrong. After some time I checked the evidence in my mute meter. I saw a conversation of THAT EXACT guy asking for my password repeatedly. It was in Finnish, the language I speak natively but that's no excuse to mute me when that other guy was the one asking for my password. That's just stupid. I guess the guy got annoyed that I didn't fall for his scam and reported me for no reason. If they don't speak a language, maybe they should get a translator to help instead of muting the victim.
You want to know the trick? He does the red mark on the cash so he can accept first, when he accepts first right be4 u click accept he takes away the money. If you click accept first and he does the mark it resets your accept so he can accept first.
I'd almost advocate for a time delay on a trade being accepted if any changes have been made. How it was done in this example was insanely sneaky and could be easily missed with the digit change.
When I quit the game I stood in the ge and gave about 300 mil to new players and was accused of scamming all I did was give them however much they wanted and just walked away

Okay, even BETTER than this. SOMEONE please EXPLAIN I was selling 42M worth of Addy darts(i was fletching to 99). This guy comes up, and offers 47M worth of items(an acp and some other stuff) and 2m in coins. He removes 1m of the coins. So naturally, I clicked accept. Free 5m, right? In the confirmation window, I see the acp, 1m, and the other items, the acp and the 1m are flashing. Sweet! I get ready to click accept. As I am about to press the left click, I notice the TRADE VALUE is only 5m. I hesitate. Which is wrong... The items in the confirmation window, or the trade value...? I assume the trade value. Fortunately. He tries 10 times, each time, he'd remove the acp, and 1m, and they'd both be highlighted on the second window. But STILL there. Trade value of only 5m. I don't understand how the game knows its not there (trade value), but yet it thinks it IS there (trade confirm window)
Kevin Wolf that’s because if the item was still there, there was multiple of that with a certain amount so when it was flashing you still saw the item but he took out some items maybe you were paying too much attention to the trade value which is good when watching out for these scams but pay attention to items as well when using os buddy or runelite prices for certain items is based onGrand exchange trading prices are, so the GE is saying the item is worth a certain about but that could be false with certain odd looking items can be worth 30k since no one ever trades them in the GE the price never changes and they stack them to seem it’s worth 100m or 50m when in actuality the value is worth 0. In my opinion dont trade random people, if it seems too good to be true it probably is lol hope I was of some help.
Kevin Wolf hmmm sorry it’s kind of hard to explain pretty much he was distracting you with taking out those items and putting them back quickly while taking the “item” that was worth of value out possibly? Not too sure in that scenario I stopped dealing with scammers a long time ago so I’m sure they got more advanced and found other trade screen bugs to abuse.
Bro that’s the oldest scam around. Not the doubling scam but removing gp or swapping items. Most ppl do just click the second accept window. This is nothing new. Lots of us did this back from 2004-2007. Honestly it was to easy.
I was at clan wars a couple weeks ago and right before you walk pass the force field to fight some guy asked if I minded he maxed one me if he paid me. I told him not to worry about it, you dont have to pay me. So I took off my armor, walked a bit further away from other people (so I wouldn't get attacked by them) and then walked into the zone. He proceeded to tell me to show my inv so that he could know how much food to give me. As I was adding my items he decline a couple times. One the 2nd or third time, I threw all my items up in the inv and he added the corresponding amount of food to fill my inv. He hit accept and once I saw that I declined and he hopped immediately. People are scummy on this game some time.
It isn't a glitch he's conditioning you to think the exclamation point is just him removing 10-15 mil.. overtime once he feels you aren't paying attention he edits the cash stack twice removing 15m from 315m making it 300m then he edits it really fast removing 260m making it harder to see the 30m because the exclamation point flashes over the 0. The red flash is a way of making it seem normal, but also a way of hiding the 3rd number.
I remember when I first became a member I got scammed my whole bank by a guy who gave me 50m in items (what ge said) but were actually worth nothing. Last time that happened lmao, only lost about 5m but for a new player I was devastated
5:05 its not a glitch, he had (270m + enter) hotkeyed. So he types to remove 12mill but doesn't click enter yet, then he right clickes his gold stack and hovers over remove x, he proceeds to clicking enter (removing 12mill) then right clicks remove x, almost simultaneously, then he pressees his hotkey (probably a key next to enter) so it removes 270m and at that point he already moved his cursor over accept. brilliant scam if you ask me! i dont know how they think of these things
This is such an easy thing for the osrs to fix too. just have it delay the 2nd accept window if they have changed any item from the 1st window instead of flashing the red.

Yes absolutely, but again I cannot caution people enough... It's best not to even risk it. With something as simple as a trade scam I felt confident enough that I would just not click accept on the second window without being absolutely sure. Definitely felt good to take that cash away from a guy like that.

I had like 50mil and legit doubled money for f2p players and it made their day. I made some friends too. I went to varrock and said "doubling money" and was told multiple times I'm a scammer and not to trust me and I was like "that's on you, but I'll legitimately double your cash. Trust me." I doubled max 1mil to 2mil and gained a cult following that day. Gave away about 46mil/50mil. It was a great day for those f2p osrs kids.

Everytime i went staking and had 200m profit, i double people money with limit of 50m in 1 trade. until i was cleaned one day with 1b. made me happy to make someone their day
it's not a glitch, it's a macro doing it for him as fast as possible. I've juggled with a scammer once doing this method to me, but he couldnt scam me because I was too carefull. I didnt win either because of the same reason

Someone scammed me with this glitch for 8 mill. I thought it was me being stupid. Now I can sleep soundly knowing im an idiot AND knowing I wasn't seeing things.
K so I might be a complete noob here, but I don't understand how you're adding the armour, crossbow and such in the trade, but you still have it after the times you've clicked accept? Did the scammer decline the offer? Difficult to follow the text. Does he decline the trade offer when you profit from the trade, then give you some money after? Is it like a game? If you don't get scammed he rewards you with a bit of money, which he hopes will then condition you to accept quickly later on and thus he'll succeed with his scam?
Hi, sorry it was a bit confusing... But yes that's exactly what is happening. There are two trade windows so you need to click accept twice, when I click accept on the second window it is because the value of the gp he put up is much greater than the cost of my armour. Then he declines, and trades me again to give me some money (1-2M etc) so I keep wanting to hit accept on the second window.
