I really like the simple, beautiful styling of this one. Best of all made in USA

I’m guessing you got it out by now but if not try shooting it out first if needed put a little powder behind the nipple. This is a pretty common practice. TC side locks are dandy rifles. If maintained they’re quite reliable and have sufficient power. If you want to deer hunt with it get some maxi balls, they’re very effective and old school cool.

Yes that's exactly what I'm done put a little powder behind the nipple and she fired right out. Thanks for watching

I think I would shoot it out , first just put a cap on it and shoot if that dont work then take out the nipple and put powder behind it , just make sure to seat the nipple back on good . Hope this helps .

Not knowing what’s in the barrel I wouldn’t shoot it. A Ball puller should work... I would remove the nipple and what powder I could ...

I'd get a heavy duty range rod from CVA and a bullet puller, worm, wire brush, and cleaning jag. Pull it out and give it a thorough cleaning.

Love these older powder sticks! My BiL is letting me use one of his New Englanders for the late muzzleloader season in December. Would like to find one myself

That's a nice traditional muzzleloader some states have special deer and elk seasons were you have to have one those to be leagle for that part of the season in Idaho I know in places you'd get an extra two weeks of season buy switching guns ..

Hi Rob, I think you made a good trade, that looks like a nice muzzleloader. I would try shooting it first, if that doesn’t work I would try air pressure as noted below. I have a 50 cal Thompson White Mountain Carbine that I haven’t shot in years, you’re video kinda makes me want to mess with it again! Please bring us along with what ever you decide to try, it will be interesting to see how it goes. Have a good day Rob

Blow it out with an air compressor through where the nipple screws in. Or they make a make something that screws in where the nipple goes and then uses a CO2 cartridge to blow it out. Or replace nipple what's a grease zerk and pump full of grease messy. T/C muzzleloader uses 1/4x20 threads I believe.

When I traded for mine, it was loaded too. Polymer plug and a tight fitting ball.

Those have always intrigued me and I always wanted one but to be honest I don't know the first thing about them. That one looks really nice and it would seem you got the better end of the deal but be careful shooting it or unloading it for the first time because hard telling what's in there and how long it's been in there.

Thank you I appreciate that. Yes I am a little hesitant about shooting it out but I have done it in the past. Actually several years ago I bought another muzzleloader off my brother. And it was also loaded. Had to shoot it out. Thanks for watching

I love hunting with mine( standard model. It’s like the Renegade but no renegade word on side). Best part, I get to hunt before cartridge hunters can. First pick of the season. If the barrel bore ever wears out it can be used as a smooth bore for squirrel, rabbit, grouse with light lead shot. That’s a very long time away.

Be interesting to see if you end up with a TC brand on your shoulder after firing it a few times with that metal butt plate. I love the simplicity of the old black powder rifles.

Be very careful unloading that gun ! Your hands are going to be in the wrong place ( hopefully NOT at the wrong time ) !

The powder may have pitted the barrel. You may want to remove the breech plug and tap out the loaded round. Then you can see how bad the barrel looks.

Dale there's only one problem with that this type of muzzleloader doesn't have a breach plug. There's no way to punch it through. But I appreciate the help. Thanks for watching

I think your plan to shoot it out is a good one. Simple first, then get complicated. Nice gun. I got two Thompsons in February 2020 just before the shutdowns. Only got them out a time or two. One flint and the other cap. Lots of fun!

It had probably been loaded about 5 to 6 years.
