If you want to fix the fingerprint issue, the option is in the fingerprint section of security and privacy, where you add fingerprints, the bottom option allows firm press or light press. Hope this helps
But at the same time, if you're not supporting the competition and are expecting others to do it for you, don't expect much to change. You need skin in the game and signal that the reason I bought a OnePlus Open is that it's delivering on nearly everything current Fold users have asked for Samung to do for nigh on 5 years.
@terrancecloverfield6791 Availability also plays a crucial role if you want to support other foldable devices. This is especially true in the U.S. since the offerings from Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo are unavailable. OnePlus is the only true competitor right now to Samsung and Google.
I was able to trade in my OnePlus 11 to get the Open. Got a $1300 credit and the free earbuds during the pre-order period. Cost me $252 out of pocket after taxes. I had the Z Fold 4 and traded it in for the S23U due to the small cover screen. Unless Samsung brings a bigger cover screen on their next foldable I'm riding with OnePlus moving forward!! Also running on Mint Mobile!!
I still love the width of my fold 4. I honestly don't want a wider display. I have smaller hands so it works for me. Also from reviews I've seen Samsung offers more software wise and that's what keeps me in the ecosystem.
That wouldn't be one handed easily though. So many people don't want the fold to get any bigger. If you want the size screen of the S23 ultra then get an S23 ultra.
Having a narrow front screen force you to open more your fold 5 and enjoy more the big screen. I can tell you I have a HUAWEI mate XS with a front screen 6.6inch and I never open it…
You're not the only one, I'd absolutely adore it of my S23 Ultra as it is could fold open, and not have to be annoyed with a candy bar for a cover screen. It's the only thing holding me back second to the inner screens not being durable enough for constant S-pen use since i draw a lot
@@simptrix007 I would never remove it anyway, and I still wouldn't trust those screens in their current forms to not gain some sort of wear and wear overtime from constant s-pen use.
I traded my Fold for it and I couldn't be happier. It's a much better phone despite my love for Sammy. The camera is better, the battery is better. I thought the Oxygen OS would just be lighter, but there's an insane amount of customization inside. It sounds like you haven't found some of that, I'd suggest watching a couple videos, based on some of your comments. The multitasking is far better, I desperately want Samsung to steal it. Until they change the front screen though, useability isn't even close. The inside screen is even less creased. I look forward to trying the pen, it has 4k+ sensitivity and WORKS on the front screen.
3:24 For the fingerprint sensor, there is a way to require you press the power button first before the sensor activates and scans for your fingerprint for screen unlock. Settings > Security & privacy > Device lock > Face & Fingerprint Unlock > Fingerprint > Screen-off unlock; change to "Firm touch".
Personally, I like the larger rounded camera bump. It is similar to the one they used on the OnePlus 11. I think it's important for every brand to individuate from the competition. Moreover, I chose the OnePlus 11 over the Samsung Galaxy s23 ultra and I have absolutely no regrets. Furthermore, if I were looking for a foldable I would also choose the open over the Z5.
Yeah jeff I've traded my fold 4 for this and I've been a massive samsung user for I don't know how many years. But the fold has stagnated so much I needed the change in form factor. Along with very very poor trade in values. Really looking for ward to getting this in hand. How's the software change been so far ??
I hate screen protectors lol. Why don't they use 99% glass and use that plastic flex just for the crease section like what 0.5-1.5mm flex and the rest traditional glass
There is an option to make the finger sensor less sensitive. If setup you will have to actually press on the sensor, like Z fold power button. I just left the Z fold 5 too for 1+ Open :)
@@simptrix007 Same I had fold 3,4 and now 5 and liked them all. No issues with front screen as I was always opening the phone. This Open is completely different. Now I do 80% of everything on the front screen, it feels like a normal phone, not so heavy and I still open it for videos and such. Great quality phone, does beautiful pictures. It's different. I like different. This is a serious competitor. Multitasking is much better as you are using a full screen for each application not just a small square space. I decided to try it and so far I like it allot. Z fold 5 sitting on the table ready to go on FB marketplace:)
love the form factor on fold 5. just needs smaller bezels on the cover, people forget about water resistance and the fact that the form factor lets the inner screen have the best aspect ratio, but to each his own
Shout out to Jonathan! A T-Rex and a Raptor. I have no issue with the Fold 5 outer screen. The DeX option, S Pen, app optimization, Samsung's more robust ecosystem (watch, tablet, earbuds, tv) UI, and crazy trade in incentives make it hard to move away from Sammy, in my humble opinion.
Thanks I just found it. It is very confusingly labeled though...it says soft touch or firm touch which isn't really the full extent of what it does. I do appreciate you pointing this out tho!
Been rocking my galaxy fold 2 since release day and still absolutely love the thing......i haven't upgraded because the 3,4,5 are basically the same phone.......i really like other companies finally getting into the Folding space, brings different designs and software ideas!
I'm loving my fold 3, I'm only considering upgrading it to the 512gb or maybe the 4 next year depending on pricing. The software and updates samsung offers are top tier. I'm sticking with the fold.
@aman.goeliitb wow thanks for that info. Very helpful. I'm gonna look into it everytime I checked them they usually had 4 to 4.5 star ratings. But ill check on it.
I also switched from the Fold to the Open and it's a mixed bag. The inner screen of the Open is absolutely amazing with no crease. One big hardware drawback which no one mentions is the haptics of the Open feel a lot less refined compared to the Fold. And then there is software, and Samsung just has a much smoother user experience. I have found quite some bugs in the Open. Also not having the ability to have a completely independent outer screen layout is pretty annoying. Speakers are much bolder and louder on the Open. And the whole debate about the outer screen, Samsung is following a different strategy, where the outer screen is just for quickly checking messages etc and then if you want to write etc, you Fold. It's much handier to hold when folded where the Open is clunckier because of the width. I would definitely not want an even wider outer display
@@jspring86 thanks, btw one other thing I haven't been able to figure out is keeping screen brightness on auto. It always reverts back to a super dim brightness level and you have to dial it up all the time. Does this happen to you as well?
If you ever had a chance to get the OnePlus pad. The OnePlus pad proved to me that OnePlus is serious about software experience. It's wonderful to see it now release a fold.
Traded in my Fold 4 for the Open and I regret it...I do not like the software on the OnePlus...multitasking is far better on the Fold and i have glitches consistently with the Open. I actually like the front screen on the Fold...Oneplus customer service is also terrible in my experience...Overall, i wish i wouldnt have purchased the OnePlus...thanks for the videos.
One plus open, Xiaomi Mix fold 3, and Honor Magic and perhaps pixel fold have better designs, however z fold 5 has better software and features qnd is light years ahead. Next year I predict the z fold 6 ultra will take the crown as best Foldable of all time. Samsung has wireless powershare and charging, water resistance, s pen gestures and utilization when my fingers get tired and for photos from a distance , Samsung health , Samsung flow , Dex , Samsung TV , wireless projection better speakers and dolby vision, app optimization and emulators etc
@antnedavis5686 things like Samsung TV and Samsung Health I use those and they aren't bloatware that's just an excuse and coping mechanism iphone users use and listen I respect the 15 pro max but objectively Samsung is offering more
Watching from my Google Pixel Fold. Loving it but all I can say is, I can't wait to see what Folding phones will bring in 2024. I Love the Pixel Fold but I am missing the S Pen Experience. I'm not missing the front cover display which is useless. All three are missing something. It comes down to personal preference and I Love that my Pixel Fold is the widest Front Screen. Plus the User experience is way better with the Android maker. The Pixel Fold 2 needs to be taller and have a stylus Pen. If not I can see me doing with a Samsung Z Fold 6 if the front cover display is wider. But Samsung needs a more exciting looking device. There's is the most boring and Predictable looking device out of the 3 major Foldable in America.
Samsung need to make the fold 6 like this with an in built S pen that can write on the outer display what a phone that would be. And still waiting for apple to make a flip and fold cause I think iOS would shine in these form factors if apple did it right
I'm really left confused about why you traded your Galaxy Z Fold5. First you say you don't like the camera hump. Next you say you don't like the fingerprint sensor. Next you don't know about liking the settings menu. Then you say Samsung has better multi-tasking. You like Samsung One-UI better. The stylus support you say is not as good as the S-pen. I get it that the One-Plus front display is wider and the One-Plus is cheaper. I feel my money was well spent for my Galaxy Z Fold5. I personally will hold onto mine and wait to see what the Galaxy Z-Fold6 will bring to the table next year. I'm glad there is more competition on the market. However, i'll keep my Z Fold5. 😮
Yeah I uh pointed out how I feel. Not all of those things point one way...which is why I still have both phones. It's okay to like different things on each phone. Not too confusing i don't think.
But in the end a wider cover display is enough to likely make me pick up this phone more than the z fold 5. That's just because of my workflow yours may differ and that's okay.
I too would like to have a wider front display. Hopefully we'll see that in following upgrades. Two Galaxy S24 Ultra screens side by side with an enclosed S-pen would make a perfect Galazy Z- Fold6.😊
I would love to buy this fold but nobody ever talks about how much it will cost to replace the inside screen considering it's the main part I worry the most if it breaks for failed. Maybe it cost too much, maybe it's not replaceable, etc why nobody ever talks about it or shows RU-vid videos on how to replace it. Big red flag IMHO.
Bs on the figeeprint issue. My f5 was so sensative that it would kock ne out for too many attempts when i dodnt recall ever trying to gain access. It wouls do as you say vibrate and then lock me out on the f5! So hong kong fuey to you on this point
Oppo is basically huawei but worse. So while i do hope for more competition i am not sold on the oppo. I prefer the slim design while closed but that is preference. It's good to have options.
Watched the video. Phone looks nice. The form and size. I somehow like the camera design too. Even though u didn’t like it much. But would like to see you make more videos on this and cover more topics. Especially their open canvas. I wanna see more. How it functions..
7.9 k views and rising 😂 I went with Pixel Fold this week for a variety of reasons but the OnePlus is clearly the best foldable in terms of specs. I agree as an owner of Z Fold 2 i could never use it as my main device due to the front screen.
All about software. Pixel and Samsung win there. I used the Open for about 3 days. Software just has too many oddities. Limitations. Bugs. Its not Oxygen OS 2019 thats for sure.
SOUNDS LIKE YOU SHOULD JUST GO BACK TO YOUR ZFOLD 3,4,OR 5. ALL THE SAME PHONE .. ONEPLUS NAILED IT WITH THIS PHONE BUT YEA YOU GOT ENOUGH COMPLAINTS SO GET A REFUND AND GO BACK TO YOUR ZFOLD
@@jspring86 I do but the software is either a bit limited or there's just not enough info out there but otherwise I'm really liking it Samsung is still king. But if you could dive in deep on the one plus's software that would be awesome
