I get the mix emotions when leaving home to go "home". I moved from Hawaii to Texas to start a new life a while back, which I call "home" now, but Hawaii will always be my home. I was born and raised on the Hawaii island (Kanaka Maoli) ❣ I am forever grateful for the opportunities I had/have since the move, but the connection does not run deep as it does for home. I cry like a baby every time I leave and feel a part of me is left behind. Eventually I will move back home, until then I will enjoy the butterflies when I go home and deal with the sadness when I leave. Home to "Home" 🌺🌿❤

I know how you feel. I moved more than 40 years ago to the mainland because of a job and have lived in several places on the mainland and thoroughly enjoyed the experience I've had living there but planning to move back soon❤

I can relate to everything you're saying. I've Loved everywhere that I lived on the mainland but have felt like a gypsy since I left my home of Hawaii and soon I will be back here.

I shared the same sentiment….I currently work & lives on the Bay Area and a home in Hawaii which I pay visits to at least once a year to visit friends and family.. I often dream of being back home especially when I am stressed from work and came across your vlog. Truly appreciate a snippet of my childhood stumping ground periodically to take my mind off.. I wish I could come with you. Hawaii is the greatest place I was ever stationed while in the Navy. I really miss being there and the warm air and sun shine. I lived there 1980 thru 1984. I went to Door of Faith Church and Bible School. Take care and enjoy the sun.

I feel the exact same way about being torn between two places. I’m actually from Hawaii and moved to the Bay Area. Both feel like home and I feel sad leaving Hawaii every time. But I also feel at home once I arrive back to the Bay. It is nice to have two places to call home though.

I know what you mean about the tension. I have lived in Hawaii for over 39 years and grew up in Colorado. Even even though I have spent more than half of my life here I still feel an emotional pull to my family on the mainland. But yeah, Hawaii is definitely home though. Thanks for taking us on your journey!

I commute between Honolulu and Phoenix every 10-12 days, but also have a senior mother in Oakland, so there are frequent stops there. Phoenix has better restaurants near the gate than Oakland does. I agree with a lot that you said.

Aloha Joanna! That’s difficult. You like the Bay because your family is there, yet you live the Hawaii style and like it very much. I would feel the same way. I live here on O’ahu in lower Makiki. It’s good to visit in the states but the attitudes of people I don’t like much. I can hear you fine by the way. Aloha ke akua!!!!!

Mahalo. We are overdue for our next trip. It feels good to see the mundane sights that make up the trip. We always fly out of Oakland, it's the shortest leg. We break up the trip from Ohio with an overnight stay in the Bay Area. It's hard to waste time jet lagged when you arrive on island. Any thoughts on that are appreciated!
