Buschur is about to see a nice little bump in their Evo exhaust sales. Ive had an evo 8 years ago but if i ever get another, this is the exhaust im buying. I trust Matts opinion that much.
I think I bought everything Buschur when I built my Evo 8 back in 2005 great guys there. Awesome seeing them back in the day going back and forth with AMS for the fastest EVO.
LHT does testing and puts weird little length pieces in that eliminates drone. So basically you can have a louder smooth tone, but get that droniness rpm area out of it. The more resonators I add to my Subaru does not eliminate that drony area.
Buschur definitely knows their way around the 8&9. I have an Akrapovic on my X and love it. I put a small Vibrant j pipe in between my O2 sensor and the test pipe and have no cel.
if you ever want to go down the rabbit hole for sound/driving experience, I've always found with my Japanese cars that a layer of sound deadening does wonders. Seats out and carpet out, an afternoon of putting new sound deadening material on the thin metal makes a big difference.
I live in Metro Detroit. I’m a sales Engineer for automotive assembly equipment, tools that go on robots lifting devices etc. but we are also a Ko-Ken dealer. They make great industrial sockets and bits. Nagahori sockets are another great Japanese industrial socket but there isn’t a setup here in the U.S. also we have other high torque pistol tool than the one you sell but they are probably a bit more expensive. Nice job on the exhaust and Ko-ken!
I bough the same exact system. Had the same problem with the downpipe so I switched it out for a Invidia downpipe. Worked out well and it sounds great!
my buschur racing exhaust has been on 3 different evos and is now 14 years old and still looks and sounds great. First evo was basically stock and the current one is making over 650whp ...same exhaust 😆

Every Evo/STi meetup I went to I got compliments for my Buschur exhaust. A few of the guys who bought titanium systems regretted their purchase after hearing it.
I feel you, I have had 7 exhaust's on my Accord Coupe 2.4L 6MT trying to find the right tone and for drone. I ended up with a valved muffler so I can close the valve when cruising for zero drone and I can enjoy my music. I will be going onto my 8 or 9th exhaust since I just bought a catted downpipe
I had a Buschur bullet tbe on my Evo 8 and never changed the setup. It’s such a subtle exhaust system in appearance but sounds mean. After getting the GSC s2 cams and then 02 dump the car was burlyyyyyyy. The best 7 years of my life and in Electric blue. Keep this forever
Haven’t finished the video to know his feelings on the buschur setup. But they typically have a deeper sound. Even on the DSM’s. He should like the buschur setup. It’s old man approved.
Evo 9 turbo and cams with what you have plus injectors and fuel pump on e85 is 400 alone. If you are upgrading turbo on e85 you should be above 400 no problem. What turbo are you getting for this thing? On my Evo 8 I have had FPgreen stock block 2.3L had FP black/pte 6266/PTE super94 and the PTE super 99.
Try the FP Cast Manifold, Exotic Speed O2 Housing, DC Catless Down Pipe, and X force 3 Inch full exhaust. Very nice. . easy on the ears and deep under full throttle.
Love the BR exhaust! I have the SD muffler option cat back with an FP race manifold some downpipe and a test pipe. My girl told me to get it and it’s miles better than the straight pipe and hood dump options I had lol.
Buschur was always my favorite and in fact he just bought the company back and is working on new products for the toyota Carolla platform! so if you need or want anymore buschur parts for the EVO platform ... you better order now!
Mat I used to hate most stock pipes and then a couple of friends who were actual rally drivers took me to the place they had their exhausts made and they would then fabricate the correct and send them exhaust sections to order, they are CUSTOM CHROME LTD in the UK and they have a bespoke service for those who want that bit extra but not a droning mess.
Matt I heard you throw a Jawn talking about the downpipe. The Philly lingo is terrible but sticks with you when living close for life I feel like. When going with a big turbo I’ve always dealt the buschur gets raspy, but with the smaller frame turbos it’s a nice sound
The stock exhaust on an ISDM Evo 8 has the O2 sensor in the mid pipe after the cat. The USDM Evo 9 has the O2 sensor in the cat. A JDM exhaust might not have the O2 sensor in the mid pipe, just in the cat.
This is an excellent system, I have the same on my little ralliart colt, we used 6boost steam pipe manifold made here in Aus into bigmouth dump then the highflow cat (its law here) and then same magnaflow exhaust all 2.5in stainless steel (1.5litre 4G15T) sounds good goes hard 😀
I like the HKS hi power a lot more, but sound is subjective, Buschur still a great choice. I gotta say, anything bigger than an FP green turbo and the car just looses its soul, keep that in mind when choosing the turbo to prevent hating the car. 😅
"Uncle Matty" had me a little concerned till 24:42...then the audio got it right! I was thinking...cool we will get more EVO with some rally back road rips to the new building, then Matt pulls the carpet out from under at the end of the video with the "time to get rid of it..."😳 WTF kind of emotional roller coaster is this...damn! LOL
Only downside I’ve found with Koken is when you place the sockets on a traditional socket tray, the size measurements don’t all point the exact same way 🤐 (did you get one of their titanium tool sets?)
I'm a big fan of the Flowmaster 40 series or a nice Cherry Bomb glass pack. I feel it would compliment this car. You can expect nearly 20 horsepower gain with the Flowmaster Chambered 40 series
Ahhhh good ol inline 4 turbo. I’d kill to have an evo one day but I’m currently tied up with my s13 build atm so I’m tapped. Guess I’ll have to vicariously live through your build lol. How much power are you planning on putting down with that evo?
