He was asked while playing AP (and that was before they balanced the shiv towards AD ). His point was/is that you were wasting 600gold worth of stat in Shiv on an AP build (the Crit cloak). This is an AD build - so he isn't wasting any gold / stat.
Yeah I was wondering that myself, dude got literal shit on for advicing him on getting Statik. But I guess he was refering to AP shaco scenario in that regard, don't 100% remember.
On his main account? It's likely in the millions. I wouldn't even be surprised if it was close to 10 million. Most of his other accounts he plays for the stream are still well over half a mill, if not more. Shaco is almost all he does, in fact he just dodges if Shaco gets banned at champ select.

You have to play both to learn the match ups. Ad shaco is great into squishy teams and certain matchups. Ap is good against most of these matchups so you pick and choose when either is needed. For example ad shaco is terrible vs VI but ap shaco is a good matchup vs ap.

When you're in top lane, simple. Look at the team comp. If you have too many AP champs on your team, then go AD. If you have pretty balanced damage types on the team or vice versa, go AP. If you're jungle/support, you go kinda hybrid. In these cases, you want the Umbral Glaive at least to remove map vision. After that follow up with team comp or AP by default.

There are some that, when you look at their abilities, have some ad and ap skills, like shaco. You dont want lux or ahri to go ad, they have no abilities that scale with ad... so if you have too many ap and you are like one of the only one that could go ad, then you go ad. Same goes for example with corki. If your team has too many ad, you go ap or vice versa.
That's because the crit is wasted on AP Shaco. That's literally 600 gold down the toilet when you're rarely going to even be attacking in the first place and you don't even need the wave clear when a Liandry's makes your boxes clear waves without you even needing to be there. AP Shaco does 2 things; Outplay greedy/tilted players using boxes, and clone bombing. Neither the clone, the dagger you throw, nor the boxes even apply on-hit effects and the boxes can't crit, so there's literally no point to waste 600 gold on crit chance on a control mage type build. If you'll notice though, this game he played AD shaco, which is totally different since a lot of your damage comes from backstabs and Q. Critical Q empowered backstabs can one-shot squishy champs. 600 gold makes a huge difference in Masters+ elo. Talking the difference of 4 minutes to just get crit when you are never going to be auto attacking really. Games in that kind of elo can be over in 4 minutes. In low elo, people don't know what macro plays are and have zero idea what to do after the laning phase.
@@elliotwintersdemanagabei9437 That's when like season 2 came out... League was initially released in 2009. This is probably one of the oldest games still played, LOL. League just happens to still be widely played, though I would argue the player base has dropped significantly since 2016.
