Yup!!!! I watched this and you are the onw to whom I admire most..❤️ and I like the way you edited this video hope I'll get a chance to meet you soon...keep uploading and keep making my days happy ..... Thanks alot chloeeee❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
i liked the new editing style, but whatever you do, its gonna be amazing and i will watch! seriously, keep up the good work Chloe, i love you sm and you are literally one of my ALL TIME FAVS!! hope you get this!
THE 👏 EDITING 👏 ON 👏 THIS 👏 VIDEO 👏 Loved the swirls on the Lego painting. LOVED all the macro shots on it at the end too. It's sweet seeing how many layers of lego details were used to convey actual paint layers in a super famous painting!! 💜 Fantastic job, as always!
Honestly the temu set turned out rlly good, especially for the price. I kinda want it now. I’d love more videos like this, comparing cheap vs expensive kits!! Maybe you could try candle making or soap making kits? They always look fun!
@@mobiusbelts3607 I am not being racist, I am not warning people about amazon because it is trusted and there is no proof that it is stealing personal information, and this is the first time I have heard about sony being a store and not a game console company so I don't know anything about it, but again and again temu has been proven to be a bad company you should not buy from
Every time I thought a Lego piece was missing, I always found it in the bag (in the corner) or with extra pieces. I've been building them for years, and I've only had to contact them for missing pieces twice. So it is unfortunate that u were missing multiple important pieces.
I bought the Temu version a while ago! And honestly, I enjoyed it. I prefer the smaller size in terms of the end result. I will say my fingers were dead after as there were actually sharp edges and had a hard time connecting the last bits. I didnt have too much trouble with the manual personally and row order, though it took me a while to figure out the colors since they are so similar. I personally had a hard time pushing my weight to connect them near the end, and the last connection between the two large pieces were so hard! I have it still and although not the most stable, I still like my model. But its not for everyone
I LOVE nanoblocks! They're less protected than LEGO, so if you have anything that says "micro-sized building blocks" or something like that it's not the *legit* brand (but not all "fake" brands are bad)! This set definitely looks like a much bigger struggle than all of the ones I've done (probably because it's like a wall, not a figurine), I'd recommend going for something like the Pokémon ones if you ever want to try again! I personally like nanoblocks because I don't have a whole lot of space to keep built sets, but also wouldn't want to do a big set in one session
Me too! I bought some cheap sets from Taobao (Chinese shopping site) and made them last year and absolutely loved it. I think I actually prefer the nanoblock type set to actual Lego sets. I got a Lego set for Christmas this year and it felt like going back to using Duplo bricks
I've done some of the Loz mini blocks and have always found them great too, and always have spare parts and none missing! So definitely the way to go if you don't have the space for the large lego
Loz is my favorite micro-sized building blocks, they have wonderful designs and are a joy to assemble. It's not a toy, though, since the ready pieces break easily. Lego's patent has expired, so all these "Blego" plagiates are even legal, as long as they use the lego brand.
PHENOMENAL editing! I really appreciated the comparison - interesting to see that LEGO will always be more than "knock offs", but the quality of pieces and clarity of directions is always massively better. I'd love to see you try another one of these LEGO art pieces!
This looks so cool and yet so painful at the same time as an artist I recently came down with RSI and tendinitis. It was so severe I had to have injections in my wrist Palm and some area and wear a splint in both hands. It’s so debilitating I would love to do something like this, but my hand simply won’t do it and I’m only in my 30s. You did an amazing job and there’s no shame in getting help. I think it’s great that you had other people Involved.
As someone who’s ordered and built many micro, as well as mini, building block sets from Temu I must say that I love them. Yes they are tiny and a bit fidgety at times but once you get the hang of it the mini set are the same quality as LEGO. The micro sets are different quality but still well made. I highly recommend them.
The smaller sets are really fun! But I did a big set once and that was literally painful, my fingers hurt so much from the sharp corners! In the end it does look cool, is very sturdy, and has kept a prominent spot on a shelf. I think it is so so important though to do it a little bit at a time. I was just doing a few pages a night. I think doing it in one go is going to test your patience and be too prone to errors! Also pushing down all the pieces every few layers massively helps (I mean that's probably what hurt my fingers more in the end) seeing the gaps in the video was so hard to watch!
@@EccoXile I agree you have to do a little at a time especially with the micro sets. Also, tweezers help out a bunch. And a little super glue here and there works wonders for certain parts/angles.
Thank you for saying that. I have done several now, and I absolutely adore them. But I also have not had some of the same issues, yes, they are definitely less step-by-step than Lego, but I did several micros and then went back and did a Lego set and I almost thought it was ridiculous how Each step was just a couple blocks. Of course it also felt huge. The ones I have done so far. also were decent quality and I had no problem with them fitting properly.
I have done several of these micro blocks figures and sets too and love them, yes they are tiny but I never found the instructions or the general assembly that difficult, that part where she mention the order was confusing, for me it was confusing just the first time, once you get the hang of it and understand the image is grey for the steps already done and then you build from the bottom to the top is very easy to follow. Other thing that was weird for me was the missing pieces part thought I have not tried this particular model, but all and I mean ALL of the models I have tried came with extra pieces as Im sure they know they are tiny and you might loose one 😂. Anyways, I think they are quite great for the money they cost and a lot of them are very cute, I even got the Pokémon or Totoro ones for my sister and she have then as decor among her shelves with the rest of her anime figures.
I’ve only seen/heard bad things about TEMU, in particular they’re straight up stealing pictures and designs from artists and profiting off them themselves, so it doesn’t surprise me it was poor quality. Yes, it looked like starry night but not worth the effort in comparison to the Lego version!
Hullo Chloe, I have ordered from Temu and they are just not for better quality items. Cheap they do ok and you do get what you pay for! I was satisfied with the items that I purchased as I ordered lower quality supplies and they did not mess them up as there was not a lot of room to do so! I have wondered if anyone has been happy with their higher end knock-off items? Like this LEGO kit? Not worth the frustration to me. The editing was good. LEGO building is a very hard editing task! I am not sure how this style would work with your regular artwork but you could certainly give it a try if you wanted or you liked it, me, not so much. I do love your videos and your can-do attitude and your effervescent style, you are a true treasure! Thank you again for sharing this experience with us. Amazingly done!
It's no more or less ethical than Walmart, Target, any local dollar stores, just be smart and buy what has good ratings, so you're not just throwing things away, I've gotten literally exactly the same things I've gotten on Amazon for half price or less, same company and everything on more than I care to admit
Some of it's literally the same stuff you get in big box stores, just without the middle man. Like how a lot of art sets are repackaged from a single manufacturer. Temu isn't manufacturing that stuff. It's already being made somewhere and sellers are just posting it up
@@emilymulcahy But the thing is, there is no way the Van Gogh knockoff can be that cheap for all the effort in making the pieces and such. OP is basically not comfortable because it is very clearly something done by overworking people or with the best quality of materials. Shein got flak in the past for having lead in clothes. They aren't saying don't buy from Temu, but that they don't feel comfortable themselves buying there.
I love micro block builds - done about 50 sets. Once you get use to the build style (in multiple layers per each numbered step) you can blast thru builds relatively quickly... Try building sets that have creatures with floppy ears or legs, or waterfalls that are holding up floating land. I plan on building this set soon.
I admire your tenacity in doing both sets. Especially the second one since there were so many pieces missing. I hope you'll do The Great Wave one. I'm half tempted to get Legos Starry, Starry Night as I love the original painting and I've always loved Legos. Maybe if it goes on sale. 🙂
If you go on to the customer support page Lego offers to send you any missing pieces completely free. I’ve used it a few times since a lot of sets my mom buys for my baby brother end up missing a piece or he loses it and still demands I build it right.
If you contact Lego, they will should the missing pieces. You will need to get the part # from the back of the booklet. Usually in Lego sets, I have extra pieces. I usually find if I am missing a piece, I find it stuck in one of the plastic bags. Only once can I recall not finding a piece in my big Ferrari F40 kit. A single red tile was missing, and could not find it anywhere, but it is a fairly common one. I had another from an other Lego set.
Especially when you compare it to the other one, the lego one looks so good. I didn't expect it to be so 3D, I thought it'd be much flatter. Also I really enjoyed this new style of editing!
I have that Starry Night Lego set, and it is my favorite Lego set ever!!! It took me two days to get mine built, but it’s totally worth it…now it’s hanging on my wall and I get to enjoy it every day. 💜
advice : you might think the pieces are missing but I think you can switch the pieces or some might actually might be missing ,if some parts are flimsy try to hold it good ,now for the transparent pieces, in the instruction it might be light blue
@ChloeRoseArt i know this is an old video, but i think i found your missing piece. At 11:00, when you were comparing the size of the orange Lego piece removers, there was a Lego piece still attached to the orange Lego remover. I think that may be your missing Lego. I could be wrong, but there is a grey piece on the orange remover.
One thing that you didn’t cover, at Temu there is not one Temu brand, there are several different brands of building block companies, in different levels of sizing as well.
Did you try/see the lego botanical series? I would love to see you try it but also see how much creative liberty you could take with it to make it your own art 💖
I like this style of editing! Also, since one lego project takes 6-7 hours, have you ever considered Live Streaming on YT? You'd be surprised by how many people like tuning in during a live. A great way to connect with the audience and also chill and hangout essentially! :)
I'm glad you were brave enough to say "enough is enough" on that poorly designed jumble of plastic bits. No point in continuing to torture yourselves; you gave it more than a fair shot. The Lego one is cool 👍
Just leaving a comment, just got to the point Chloe said she couldn't get her brother's help. I have built the lego Death Star with my brother and we would have one person find the pieces, second person put it together. So you usually overlap on pages, and worst case, you are only one page off, which is manageable. Love your videos!
I bought a small lego version of a really cool looking cherry tree. I built it but pieces were not connected like yours.... It has been thrown in a box until I buy glue to glue the pieces together. I feel your pain hahaha I love how both of yours turned out!
You should make some of the lego flowers. I have the orchid set and I'd really like to get the other flower sets some day too. I love Van Gogh and this is my dream set to get - it's just so expensive!
I've been wanting to see one of these art kits from Lego in person, but they're just too pricey for me right now. Thanks for sharing and I'd love to see The Wave!
I did this kit with the wife. We ran into the same issue you had with your brother. As for missing pieces, I’ve always found them in the bag we tore open and threw back in the box.
This is trippy timing as I just started building the Lego Starry Night on Monday, I did bags 1 & 2 then & bag 3 earlier today, so this was a bit like seeing spoilers lol. I've not been timing it because I'm watching at at the same time lol. I've built some pretty huge builds from them, so my advice is to take plenty of breaks: it'll save your fingers, eyes, bum & back (from sitting so long). Lego instructions have always been pretty good, but I feel like they have even improved over the last few years too. That said, because it was working layer but layer for that 3D effect, some of the pages added a lot of pieces all in one go/image (a couple of times I've missed a piece and had to go back, but for the most part it works out) I guess it's just I'm more used to their books that tell me to add three pieces in one step rather than 12 lol, but it does make sense here because of the way the layers are set up. Any time I think I was missing a piece it always turned out to be hidden under the booklet (also, am I the only one who spends 10 minutes organising the pieces into colours before starting? I find it so much less frustrating when looking for pieces). I have also been fascinated with how they built up the 3D element too, there has been some clever engineering going on in the design process, because that's all part of the aesthetic too it makes it very different to say the builds like quinjet I just built last week, a lot of which is mostly unseen structure that then gets covered with the aesthetic pieces, which is all different again from the big buildings. I'd also like to add something that Chloe didn't mention, but the first couple of pages of the booklet gives some interesting info about Van Gogh. Interestingly for me, I have a little booklet from years ago that didn't mention some of the things in it. Like how he had epilepsy. And I hadn't realised just how freaking prolific an artist he was in his relatively short life. Painting over 900 oil paintings alone (I believe over the 20 years). A Starry Night he painted while he was in an asylum that he'd checked himself into for his faltering health and he was painting it from memory because he wasn't able to see the sky at night. The tree is apparently a Cypress Tress, which the booklet says is an allegory for death, hinting hat perhaps he knew his death was approaching faster than it should be for a man in his mid 30s. He produced around 150 pieces in that last year when he was in the hospital (having been encouraged by the doctors to keep up his art for his own wellbeing). That level of output is wild to me, I know people who take months to produce just one painting. In comparison, that Temu build looked kind of hellish the whole point is that the pieces need to hold together, someone forgot to think that through. On the face of it $20 sounds great for what you're getting there, however I'd say someone clearly tried to do a version of the Lego one (I can't say rip-off can I?) For as cheap as possible, unfortunately it's shows, because Lego have big teams of people who work on these builds to ensure they make sense and are workable. Obviously I've not tried building their version, but it doesn't look like anywhere as much thought went into the design process and definitely not into the instructions. I'm looking forward to finishing my Lego Starry Night off and seeing the finished piece, I need to figure out how I'm gonna display it. Oh,Chloe, if you have missing pieces, contact the Lego customer service, they're apparently usually pretty good according to my brother (as long as you're not obviously pulling something by saying there are like dozens of pieces missing). I've never needed to message them as I've never missed a piece. I think you just have to look up the codes in the back of the booklet for the missing piece(s).
I know you might never do another Lego again but I just always suggest getting like a tackle box just to help keep the pieces separate:) I am building the 7,500 piece millennium falcon and that what I do!
I loved putting lego sets together growing up. And then I ended up with a bucket of legos without instructions once I had to put them up andthey snapped apart and mixed together. Lol This art Lego piece turned out so cool! Now I'm curious what other kits they have now. Awesome job with the building and editing! I don't think I could have gotten that far on the Temu one myself, but yall made it look decently good even with the struggles yall went through. Very nice!
Hullo Chloe, after re-watching this I thought you did a wonderful job with putting these kits together! LEGO does have a great reputation and many believe it is well deserved, I have often had trouble following the instructions and I have built a lot of LEGO “things” I do not believe that you should be upset for getting help. If you need help with a project you should get it! From putting something together or making stretcher bars to even editing the video, get help if you need to get help! Thank you for sharing this building video. I found parts of it a bit jarring but that is just the speeded up quality of fast video! I hope you get your living and working spaces figured out for everyone, good luck!
I love to make Loz brand tiny city houses, Loz is also a "miniature lego" brand, but it doesn't rip of Lego's designs but make their own. It's really a pleasure to assemble them and I've never had blocks missing.
Hi Chloe, Keep up the good work, your one of my ALL TIME FAVS!!! I love your hair sm, i love how you do something different, and you are super beautiful! i LOVE your content SO MUCH!!! i get so much inspiration from you, and i love seeing what you come out with every week! i hope you get this!❤
I know it's taboo but if i spent 6-7 hours building that literal peice of art i would have to end up super gluing it cuz I would never do it again But yay for Chloe and her dedication.
I bought recently a temu set as well and found it actually quite interesting. Lego set instructions are ok but the temu one I had, had just one step a bit weird but figured it out with the following one. But then again, I have tried many different brands and am used to different "mindsets" but as someone who's not used to them it is extra annoying. And Lego is just too expensive. They have been jacking up their prices in the last few year unreasonably and are quite stagnant in their "innovations". There are some great other brands that are really doing their own thing and do that amazingly at that!
@@Overwijn01 depends on which brand you get really. I have a new favorite which is much better than Lego even. Funwhole is the name and damn I built their steampunk train and I am in love. The lighting elements are amazing too. Will buy the station and other steampunk themed sets from them when I get some money to spare 😅
i also did the knockoff one over christmas.... there were sooo many missing peices, wrong colors that i just decided to make the peices work as well as i could too! Same instructions and box as yours but ours was from Amazon :(
Editing comment: As a person with focus issues from ADHD and visual stim issues from autism, this was sort of difficult to watch as my brain couldn't rest and absorb the scene fully. Combined with the fast delivery of the speech, I actually had to turn it off a few times and come back to it. Regardless, I loved the content and I'm aware that my individual experience does not reflect everyone. Regardless of editing style, though, I will always watch whatever you create as you are one of my biggest inspirations as a fellow artist. ❤️
Micro blocks are really fun, but you need patience... And the underside of the blocks aren't the same as Legos either, they can slide. I like to use water soluble glue when I'm doing the kits. I've done lots of pokemon ones. Now those can be evil.
These are considered nanoblocks size… I’m ok with the size and I’ve done a huge nanoblock knockoff project before and while I did get some pieces in the set that were mangled, I wasn’t really missing much/any piece and I had no trouble finishing it up. Instructions… I didn’t remember having too much trouble with it either. It sucks ti hear that this set was so bad! There are many different companies doing these knockoffs and the one that made this set certainly did a terrible job! Lego sets are sooo cool, but also sooo expensive. And I also have nowhere to display them after building (and also still have a ton of nanoblocks to build) so… I better NOT fall into another rabbit hole!
Wow that's so cool, i wanna try it sometimes as well. Seems exactly my kind of activity. PS: Hokusai's painting is called "The Great Wave off Kanagawa", not "The Wave" :P
Lego will always be my go-to for building sets like this. I got a foco brixilz football helmet set as a present a few years ago as a gift. I opened the set and saw that the pieces were way too small for me to handle. Thankfully, I didn't open any bags, so I put the bags back in the box and re sealed it. Still need to sell the set over 5 years later, which I would rather use that money to save for a big Lego set or maybe some retired parts to finish some projects I don't know.
When you make the wave, you should use a couple of wider Lego pieces turned sideways as temporary feet to keep the back wall upright and steady while you put it together.
I am so grateful for your video because i have been looking at the kits on the Temu app and thinking about getting one. You've saved me from wasting my money.
I love the way you do your videos I hope you keep them up prices on on art supplies and the way you test them out cuz I know what to buy and not want to buy I rebuilt my art studio watching your video and somebody else's
Temu is one of those companies that steals artists photos to advertise a cheap knock off, personally I will never buy from Temu because of it. Thank you for this comparison, Lego may be expensive, but usually worth it. The result is rather nice ☺
Thank you! I’ve wanted that Lego set for a long time! I now know, don’t bother with the Temu set! Way too small for me, that’s for sure! Hope you’ll do The Wave next (?)
I was looking for this comment. I get so many Temu ads and I really don't trust them. It seems like another Wish and the world really doesn't need more Chinese knockoff plastic stuff.
Please please please please do more of these id love to see someone do this as regular content I'd watch everyday you did amazing... would you ever do this live
i recently got into mini brick sets, ive only bought from one company so far but im looking for more, initially i was like 'ooh that mini set looks like id enjoy it' but after seeing how bad it was im going nowhere near it lol
I will say I don't think I've ever had a temu set without specific pieces. I have one that uses a SIMILAR piece to a "missing one" I guess? but it still fits together perfectly fine hahaha I will say the books get very confusing!! Especially because sometimes they get lazy\cheoa and only print a single sheet of instructions when there should be bigger images in a booklet to see
I bought the same Temu set. I do a lot of nanoblocks so am used to the size. I also have notched tweezers that help a lot. My biggest complaint: the colors in the directions are hard to match to the actual brick colors. I had to canibalize another set to make up for missing parts. DO NOT DO THE WAVE. You'll go crazy. Colors in the instruction book aren't even close. And given everything is a shade of blue... i threw in the towel after 6 hours.
