If this doesn't work for for some of you here's a different way you can do it for all you people that have brown hair like me take shampoo any type gel food coloring have a bowl to mix it in put it in your hair leave it until it's dry
Typically any hair dye to achieve a color aside from going darker you have to lighten your hair. You can't expect a darker color to magically become lighter.
I did this for Halloween in 1980. My hair was bleach blond. I thought it would just wash out. Nope! I literally burned my scalp trying to dye it back to Blond. Hair was so brittle afterwards had to cut my hair off. I guess I was way ahead of my time.

I think that it would add a colourful shine, but it wouldn't be obviously visable. Either red or pink might work well, but anything with a blue tone (blue, green, purple food colour) would mix with the orange tones of your hair to look muddy or swampy.
