i can also imagine it'd get hot after a bunch of people have been moving around in that room for a while. i don't get motion-sick but a fan aimed at my face keeps my headset from overheating because it doesn't have a built in fan.
The fans help with motion sickness. I do this when playing to keep from getting as sick. It also helps with positioning yourself in your play space which also helps with motion sickness.
Dramamine ….. cheap drug at cvs that eliminates motion sickness but over time your brain we adjust to vr and you won’t need it but I went from 10 min before I had to take it off to hours with Dramamine
Force yourself to play it through the motion sickness and eventually it goes away and you don’t get it anymore. You can also take motion sickness pills. I use them on roller coasters at great America, they work.
The fans are to help with orientation while in VR as well as motion sickness because they are all blowing in one direction, which gives you a sense of where you are in the real world.
Interesting to read about the fans! I always turned mine on too when playing but didn't realize why I did. Seems I subconsciously noticed how it helped me orient myself. I just thought it made Blade and Sorcery feel more realistic -- which I guess is part of it after all! Crazy how well our brains can process multiple things, especially when having a point of reference like this.
Yeah I did this exact thing in L.A for part of my bday. Fun experience but, its short lived, graphics suck (like a 3D ps2 game), and they get mad if you get creative and put the gun between ur legs, jerk ur gun off like its a pen15, and dry hump fire till the zombies drop. All in all, make sure there's someone who isnt a Karen watching you play
If you play amber skies they use the fans as part of the experience. There's a giant aircraft or something iirc and the fans kick on making you feel like the aircraft is blowing you back
@@Willehy i bought this circular mat from amazon it really helps me because instead of using the crouch button in games like ghost of Tabor i like to actually kneel but it also allows me to stay in place because I don’t wander off the circle. Its great if you have a small area
Not around anymore but there used to be Void VR. It had a marvel, star wars, and jumanji game and each one allowed you to actually touch the walls and tables and walk through the whole thing.
@@SAABguyMD we are extrem early in this tech. When u think of the speed of evolution than we could say its a new technology, bcuz they made vr 25years ago and stopped evolving... So yea in my mind it is a new technology, i could explained it a lot better but i have other priorities
@@DiamondDepthYT computers have changed in the last 40 years, just because my first computer was a commodore 64 doesn't mean I didn't use a computer when I was 7 years old. So I will respectfully disagree with that statement.
I’ve come to 3 statements 1) to cool the computer down 2) to cool yourself down 3) to see how close you are to the wall (and a sense of direction) Or maybe all 3
Any vr game that moves the character forward without my actual body moving forward or basically any direction makes me sick. But super hot was perfect, I felt fine
You'll get used to it with regular practice, dw! It's like driving a car for the first time. Many people get motion sick when they drive a car for the first time, but if you do it often you'll be fine.
Sandbox VR was terrible when I went last year. I went to the Vegas location in a group of 6. My equipment kept malfunctioning. My display would freeze or shut off literally every 20 seconds and would require a full reboot from the staff to get back up and running. It would then break after another 20 seconds. During the few seconds I was able to play, my weapons would not load in, so I couldn't actually do anything. I also experienced horrible frame rates for those few seconds, like under 10 fps. The rest of my group was complaining about low frame rates (playable but no higher than 40fps) and poor body tracking. Sandbox was kind enough to refund our visit, though.
The actual real reason behind the fans is that they're there for immersion purposes. If a helicopter takes off or a gust of wind blows in a game, the fans will go off.
The fans help you with motion sickness and also show how close you are to a wall if the fans are loud your close to them if not then your far away that type of stuff when I got into vr I did this a couple times so I wouldn’t accidentally hit my walls 😂
The fans are literally just to keep things cooled off. As many vr headsets alone causes over heating. I could only imagine how hot they were with all that gear on!
The vests are only haptics, and I’m confused why the needed a backpack for a Pico Neo 3. I also wonder what tracking system they were using because you needed reflective spheres to be tracked.
The Pico Neo 3 is connected to a PC in that backpack because wireless is not as reliable as wired. They seem to be using some sort of professional MOCAP stuff to do the tracking system
The fans are also for special effects. In the game me and my friends played, there was a helicopter above us and that was the only time I felt the fans on. edit: It might also be for motion sickness
