I’m a huge fan of PKY, the repair cream and the repair balm have VERY different textures. The balm is obviously thicker and the cream is extremely light and fluffy. If you have dry skin like me, I recommend layering them!
I use the Pyunkyang Yul balm. It really is what you described! An amazing product! One petpeeve for me tho, it has a matte finish, but is completely a personal preference and has nothing to do with the quality of the product 😊
That balm is AMAZING! Spread the word! 👏 I've worn it all winter in Toronto (slushy, cold, dry indoor heating) and don't need to slug. Plays great with my actives too!
Disappointing for Skin1004 to add limonene and linalool into the cleansing oil. I feel they market to sensitive skin types but those two are known sensitizers. And yes, I have an aquired sensitivity to one so no Skin1004 cleansing oil for me. 😭
Argh yeah - I think it's listed because it's part of the essential oils they used rather than intentionally added, I think it's part of the wider K-beauty trend towards "natural" and "EWG Green Grade" even though all the evidence points towards essential oils being a problem 😒
That Skinfood essence is so good, and I'm also excited that you mentioned the Pyunkang Yul balm! I've tried to hype up the balm in a few videos, but my audience is super small so I don't have the power to influence that many people 😄
Argh I missed your reviews of the balm when I was trying to see who else had recommended it, just found your post on IG now! Hope it gets the hype it deserves this year...
@Ulrike Scherer // K-Beauty Skinthusiast I just subscribed to your channel! 😊 Based on just scrolling through your videos, it looks like you have a ton of great skincare content! ✨️💜✨️
I really appreciate the time breakdowns because I only wanted to know about the PKY balm. And you’ve convinced me to get it. I won’t use the Cicaplast so this is perfect.
Hey, could you do a video on layering on skincare? What products to use first and do we wait for some time between layering each product for maximum absorption. Thanks much.
Oooh this Skinfood Ampoule! Love this stuff (and this dropper 🙌)! Haven't use it for a while but you make me want to repurchase 🥰🥰🥰 It's definitely one of the best Honey/ Propolis Ampoules out there 👍
I will say I LOVE the COSRX BHA. When I was on accutane, I was actually still able to use it, and it made my skin look amazing long after I got off accurate. It made my skin so even and glowy. Now that my skin needs have changed it’s not quite as helpful, but when I was living in a humid climate, it was awesome.
I have to mention its not the only moisturizer I use in dry cold weather but as a second to last layer with an occlusive like vaseline or cerave ointment (I have very dry skin and indoor heating doesn't help) its amazing to help keep my skin from loosing hydration.
i like the jumiso serum but didn’t notice any difference in my skin either. it’s really gentle though, so i was able to use it on days my skin was irritated.
I’m looking forward to trying the Pyuankang Yul balm! I love their black tea eye cream. I think it is comparable to the Fresh Black Tea, but a fraction of the cost.
I have used all these at some point, and I loved SKIN1004 as a brand, their centella ampoule healed my skin barrier when it got damaged from microdermabrasion. I also loved the PKY intensive cream and skinfood propolis serum, I like propolis in general and the skinfood one was one of my favourite propolis products
I've been curious about that PKY moisture balm, thank you for trying! I love their Nutrition Cream and like to layer that up but sometimes I want something more occlusive for some areas, this sounds absolutely perfect. Pyungkang Yul also make a Balancing Gel which sounds fascinating to me, it's apparently a slightly weird gel oil last step occlusive? I gonna try in winter though i think. Oh also if you have dry skin around eyes or want a heavier eye cream their Black Tea Seed eye cream is heavenly. I have combination dehydrated skin and I like trying their products so much.
Could you respond to a video on tretinoin thinning the skin by The Honest Channel? There are a lot of claims made in that video and in response comments to the video that I wanted to see your opinion on
The Skinfood essence has been on my wishlist for YEARS! Then they disappeared for a while and I haven't had the urge to try it since they are back... Maybe now is the time!
Hi! Skincare newbie here! When she mentioned "people who can't handle niacinamide", does she intend that niacinamdie can cause allergic reactions to some people? There is so much to learn! 🤩
Love that skinfood essence and I have DRY skin. Also fun fact in case anyone hasn't noticed: you don't have to push the pump button and fill the dropper because screwing the cap all the way on depresses it. So it's already primed when you unscrew it, you dispense into your hand to use, and then when you screw the cap back on it pops back down. Neato! (good luck with the algorithm)
So happy to hear that other people have issues with niacinamide. I’ve tried 4 different products with it and they all irritate my skin and really break me out.
After using a cleansing balm that contains bergamot oil I realized that it is not for me - the smell feels suffocating (I can't wash it off fast enough) so now I avoid it at all cost. Luckily the balm was a sample size. Also, the Jumiso vitamin serum does nothing for me. Instead I'm using The Yeon's Vta C-nergy vitamin cream which has a gel consistency but not sticky. My only gripe is that it is not frangrance-free.
Michelle, I am sorry this has probably been asked before but I couldn't find a specific answer.Does the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen hold up under Australian UVs? I know Korean sunscreen isn't approved in Aus, I just love the BOJ one as its light and doesn't sting my eyes.
Hi!! I have been following your channel for a while and always direct people to it either by sharing your posts or just telling them "Subscribe now!!" 😄 I have a question related to Vitamin C. I saw your Part 1 on L ascorbic acid and you touched on the topic of Kakadu plum. I know it isn't new but I still am troubled by the "it has 100× more Vitamin C than an orange but I see it mixed in with all kinds of products and don't know what percentage of Vitamin C it has or if it is as effective as LA-A. I have heard it is gentle I have heard it is more potent 🤦♀️🤦♀️Headache!! I bought a product from Derma-E called Ultra lift DMAE concentrated serum ( don't expect a facelift) but got it for the Resveratrol, copper peptides and....Kakadu plum. It is really bugging me! How copper peptide and Vitamin C?! Could you maybe do a short on this? Or perhaps it will be in Vitamin C the sequel!! Can't wait😊
I’m confused, I thought one wasn’t supposed to combine Niacinamide and Ascorbic Acid in the same routine. The Jumiso serum seems to combine both in one product!? Does that make any sense? Or was I just really wrong?
The skin 1004 oil cleanser was so meh, I'm really confused. The Purito oil cleanser was free of fake scents and way luscious to apply. It was by far superior, so I'm confused why I don't see that one hyped as much
Hi! I read that Titanium Dioxide is going to be / is banned in the EU as a food additive, even though it used to be considered safe. What's your thoughts on titanium dioxide in skin products (sun screen and make up++)? I'm thinking for the person who's wearing it as well as the people that are close to them. For instance lipstick is ingested through the mouth quite often etc
Can you please make a video about products that are good to put before makeup? I want to prep my skin in the morning with toner, serum and cream, but my foundation just slides off and peels all the time 😫. I need some vitamin c product that doesn’t react with my makeup 😒
but is that PKY one suitable for oily/ acne prone skin?? as it has Cetearyl Alcohol,, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Oleic Acid, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Myristic Acid? i have combo and acne prone skin. Please help :)
You know the ingredients commonly used in korean skincare like centella asiatica, bifida etc; are they considered actives? How do they work in terms of chemistry?
Hi Michelle. I thank u for this video. I have been looking for moisturiser lately for my night routine. May I ask if the PYK repair balm can used every night?
I have trouble with my vitamin C oxidizing on my skin and making me orangey unless my moisturizer has enough occlusives. Would the PKY balm work for me?
Hmmm that's a tough question, I really like both products and I don't usually need a hydrating toner as well as a moisturiser/sunscreen during the day. I think I see more texture smoothing benefits from the Propolis Enrich Essence than the Snail Mucin though.
Hey Michelle. What ingredient do they use to make the gooey texture for the snail cream. Im a cosmetic formulator and looking into creating a similar texture product
I reacted to the skinfood propolis essence so bad which was soooo upsetting cuz I really really wanted to like it. lil storytime Around the time I started using it my skin suddenly got really itchy and had a weird texture so I dialled EVERYTHING back for about a month to just cleansing and moisturising with the moisturiser i've been using exclusively for years, then I tried to introduce things back into my routine and I reacted again so I dialled it all back once again for a few months until my skin calmed down but the second I used this essence again my skin was right back to where I started in regards to irritation so I just never used it again. I didn't have any friends who would want to use it except maybe my best friend, but since she didn't know much about this product and all she knows is she has more sensitive skin than me and my skin reacted really badly to this product I figured she wouldn't want to use it either so I ended up throwing it out which broke my heart cuz everything about it sounded so good and I love using things with honey and I loved the packaging too, but I guess maybe my skin had a reaction to the propolis as it was the first time I used a product with it whereas products i've used with honey and royal jelly usually calm my skin down. All the benefits of this product and propolis specifically were all things I needed in my routine at the time so it was such a shame it didn't agree with me.
that essence in good for sensitive skin, your friend might like it. You most probably just got an allergic reaction to the natural ingredients, which can happen.
Firstly, your recommendations are superb and truly authentic. Plus, your reactions are, as always, Oscar worthy! Great acting, excellent writing! I enjoy watching you, Michelle, more than any woke Hollywood film actor. You’re the absolute best! ❤
Hi Michelle, just curious if you’ve tried the Beauty of Joseon Matte Sun Stick? I have it on my list and have a similar skin type to you so would be interested if you have any thoughts on it 🧴☀️ 😊
To be fair, I don't think Skinfood's thing is the whole clean or green beauty thing. It sure does seem like it with all the food themes but their advertisments, the ones I saw anyways, were more of the food for skin or using things good enough to eat to make something for the skin then the somewhat holier then thou whole chemical bad!! natural stuff better!!! type of attitude we see from most clean or green brands especially in the west.
It would be awesome if you picked some very small creators and featured them. You could make one or some of our dreams come true if you featured some of us.
