would reccomend you get some kind of dynamic world mod, for late game, but i cannot belive you are playing this game right after i also found this gold mine, love your content man😘💖
@@TheSocialStreamers yeah, the house with the statues you were looking at near the end was the house of the big guy himsels, holy lord phoenix (you were building him a statue at rebirth)
@@TheSocialStreamersblister hill us home to the emperor of the holy nation 😭😭. holy nation badically just racist and mysogynistic and sends evrrything except human men to slave camps
Slave start is actually a hidden easy mode. You start by lockpicking then improving your athletics and strength with night runs while carrying the chains. In the end you get beaten up in the morning for toughness. Do that for two weeks and you will be a beast.
@@Tom-oj7si And that's what I'm telling Child Protective Services when they come a-knockin'. You don't get it, I'm just toughening my kid up for the wild world out there!
It's also good for training skills like mining or farming, etc, that can be useful for earning money or building your own base, and since the guards never kill you, and feed you enough to stay alive, you can effectively grind these skills indefinitely, in completely relative safety.
Laith - does slave start. Calls it a mistake Me: Does the slave start when I want to play easy mode. Benefits of the start: You don't need to seek out and find food. You get healed for free. You can grind out stealth, assassination, lockpicking, toughness, labor, strength and athletics. Shackles lower some of your stats which makes it easier to level up the stats it lowers. It is, perhaps, one of the best starts to learn the basic mechanics of the game. Wanderer is probably the best to learn the combat of the game. It starts you in an area with the "weakest" enemies of the game: Starving Bandits. (Just ignore the fact that player characters start with worse stats then the weakest enemies in the game) Rock Bottom is the most interesting start for learning the consequences of losing limbs by starting you with a missing left arm. Cannibal Hunter is the best start to learn how quickly you can go back to the main menu. Kenshi is a great game Laith. It takes time to learn but once you master it you will seek out more challenging things for yourself like downloading a mod that gives you a start with no limbs or a start in the Foglands or Ashlands. Also, if you meet a character named Beep. Hire him. Treat him well. Learn to love him. Beep is the unofficial mascot of Kenshi. He is beloved by the Kenshi community. If he loses limbs don't worry. If you give him cybernetic limbs it unlocks a new 'idle chatter' dialogue set for him.
You can slowly grind dodge, hand to hand and even melee atk, Def, if you smart about weapons I walked out of the rebirth ready for bug master with 5 slave start, it took me eternity but it's possible.
@@jackb.207 True but I wouldn't want to subject new players to the "creativity" of Kenshi players and the stupid shit we do to get stats faster/easier. Better to give them a gist on the benefits than a step by step on how slave start is the best start to become a martial artist. Personally, I prefer Rock Bottom for martial arts runs, if only because I can make God Hand references by doing so.
@@sonderistic7664 No, it really is the easiest. It gives you all the benefits of grinding specific skills without any of the risks inherent to Kenshi. To top it off, the Safe House just outside Rebirth always has enough food to get both your characters back to 300 Hunger. Combine both of those aspects and you can really run your characters just about anywhere depending on how much "free" xp you got while in Rebirth. While it isn't a head start per se, the amount of time you can invest into Rebirth can often bear more fruit than an equal amount of time spent in a different start.
glad you're starting kenshi but slave start is actually bonkers good, you don't need to feed yourself and you can grind insane levels in stealth/assassination/lockpick skills in safety
Can't believe Laith is now playing my favourite sandbox game. Here's a funny thing you can do: go to a city in the south that's built entirely within a metal structure and open a big building in the middle.
Its interesting to see Laith figuring out how to escape Rebirth by training thievery, disguising, and going south. Every time I did it, I just trained stealth and ran out through the [exit he didn't find]. Playing Kenshi for the first time is a treat.
oh god that's so hilarious and fun to do. Sucks when you catch a harpoon to the head and die, though, because the guards are too busy dealing with all the chaos and can't come patch you up. @@wikidpsycokilla
How much are you talking about like how many cats do you make selling hash? I thought about doing it but didn't find any information telling me it was worth it
@@gareththompson1041If you take the hash bought from the Swamp to the Flats Lagoon marketplace, you can easily make 20,000 from about 5000 cats worth of hash. I remember making 2 or 3 trips and reaching 100,000 cats. Used the funds to start a city in the middle of the fog islands.
@@gareththompson1041hit 2 or 3 swamp villages, each village should have a vender for hashish and fish. My favorite start in the game. Lockpick/stealth/slave fight club at night. Train your strength/athletics/laboring during the day. Naruto run your way into the swamp and befriend cool ninjas
Honestly the fact you kept accidently likening slavery to a job makes me imagine that the characters got enslaved by following a "Job" advertisement that was just a slavers trap
Laith playing Kenshi?!? I’d never thought I’d see the day. I recommend downloading mods, especially that to increase skill learning rate because you can spend an incredible amount of real life hours to not get far in the game.
Jumper is still waiting dude, it's been 2 months. 😂 For real though, great video, I just picked up Kenshi on sale and wanted to check out a few getting started type videos before I jump in. This has got me hyped!
It’s always exiting seeing someone new to Kenshi. I really hope Laith continues with more of this. I can’t wait to see his reaction to stuff like Beak Things and realizing the holy nation was only the beginning.
Imma be real, this is not something I honestly expected on this channel! Kenshi is one of my favorite games of the century, and you got the *charisma*. this is magnificent 😂
"What? Did somebody escape? am i not the main character ?" Hahahaha laughting in Kenshi. NO! this is Kenshi you are NOT the main Character. I like this series so far!
Nooo... the lone shack is perfect for escaping. It is sponsored by the rebellion to give escapees a fighting chance. Lots of food, some basic clothes and even medkits.
When doing a slave start, I find that it's good to sleep during the day and use the night time for training. Train your stealth and strength at the same time, by carrying heavy shit, and then train your athletics by running around light. You can train stealth and thievery by going and stealing food. Get attacked in the morning so you can sleep and heal all day and be ready for action at night again. You can simply enter a cage whenever you want to and often the guards will just leave you there. It is a bit of a tedious start but then there's no better way to powerlevel your thief/rogue skills. I'm currently playing a slave start game and my char is a super ninja now with 95 stealth and it only took ~20 days. You can also level assassinations as well.
Laith.. being a slave in Kenshi is like daycare IRL. You get (some) food, you can train your (labour) skill and the guards protect you (from everyone excepte them). Try the "Torso" mod .. I promise you it will give you the perfect - most balanced Kenshi experience that you (n)ever wanted.
Kenshi is such a cool game hope you have fun with it. My personal favorites are the skeletons (sentient robots who need no food). Also could you please make a second part and free Jumper and discover the world, because that sounds fun. Its also no Laith video with alot of suffering on his part.😄
I started a character on the starwars mod with no limbs and a 500,000 bounty, crawled across the desert, stole some linbs and then got enslaved for an irl day, still enslaved, still picklocking other slaves
You actually shouldn't try to escape right away. Being a slave trains your skills during the day and at night you should be sneaking around and stockpiling food and gear. Also you can stealth bonk the guards, steal their gear, and walk out of the gate.
"During his time here he's going to be beaten, starved and stripped of all humanity. Fortunately for him, I have experience in this as I live in England." As a Northerner myself, facts.
I watched you play for about 30 seconds and then immediately went and bought the game then came back and finished the video, QUALITY CONTENT mate keep it up 🖤🔥
Easiest way to escape is to find all the food you can. Food doesn't disappear from your inventory after guards beat you up. Then train athletics/lockpicking. Eventually you'll be able to out run the guards with an inventory full of food. The world is your oyster!
I started as slave, saved two guys who join me, one died while me and the other guy escape. To escape I knock down a guard and took his clothes. It was a true adventure and now they're out for vengeance !
I love that he started as a slave on his very first game. Mine was wanderer. I got knocked out by bone dogs, then some slave traders found my unconscious body, threw some shackles on me, shaved my head and brought me to Rebirth. So in a way I did do a slave start on my first playthrough. The game is much much harder going solo and being weak and free in the world. Can easily die in this game.
It's always entertaining to see a naive start. I had 3 locations on the map, I ended up going to the 2 most dangerous ones instead of the one with free shelter, food, beds, weapons and decent armor.
Last time I played at the slave, I just left my computer running and just remained a slave for about 8 hours (aka my work shift) then I was super strong from manual labor. Then I leveled my sneaking and lockpicking during the night and went back to slaving by day. Then I stole Holy Nation armor and sneaked out of the camp.
I remember my first Kenshi game. Didnt know what i was doing, somehow wandered to black dragon ninja tower and my tig biddy scorchlander wanderer was bleeding to death on the ground faster than i could realize what the heck happened.
Slaves is actually a good start. You can grind early stats, you will never starve, and no one will kill and/or eat you. In my game, I took off my shackles, stripped naked, and walked out the front door. The less "slave" gear you have on, the less of a chance they will notice.
As a player with over 5500 (not a typo, been playing since early development) hours in Kenshi, I congratulate you on your persistence. By now, you are learning why Kenshi has such a fanatical following. After this, you should try the cannibal camp start. I have never made it out with the entire group.
Slaves start Is easy if you played kenshi for some time and know what ur doing. But if you are new new this is hard af. When i first started out long story short i managed to escape made my way to the nearest city just to get enslaved since they were the same faction xD also tips for people trying this. The guard tower next to the materials machine has training dummy's for max level 5. Do this if you are planning to escape. Enter the building in daytime most of the time there are 3 guards in there 0 if you are lucky. Sneak and run up the stairs ( might get caught try again later or take of your shackles to increase your stealth ) the barrels with the dummys have most likely food in it ( once again chance of getting caught ) if you succeed stealing food just train on the dummys waiting for your hunger to go back to green to increase your running speed making escaping easier
This is why Kenshi is neat. You are forced to learn and all it takes to change the WHOLE game is just a different start condition. I played this on my 3rd play-through and I think it took me 1 real world week to break free (possible because I cranked squads and raids and random camps to max) just to try it.
Wew. just died horribly in kenshi myself, and now there's this suffering to enjoy, glad you chose one of the easier starts because a lot of people get gatekept by early deaths
I played this start and did get great stats while in captivity. Just before my final escape attempt I decided to knock out the guards and switch their outfits to slaves including shackles and this was very satisfying. I ended up making most of the guards into prisoners by the morning and what a beautiful morning it was to see most of the guards screwed by their own rules. :)
rebirth is suppose to be a hard start but its just a way to boost your stats freely. they feed you and treat any injuries you get. so you can get everything pretty high
as a long-time player of Kenshi, this video accurately represents EXACTLY what i also did the first time i tried the slave start. even the part where he waltzed straight into the capital of the entire Holy Nation and where the leader of said Holy Nation resides. *Blister Hill. Home to the Holy Lord Phoenix.*
Welcome to Kenshi, where suffering is a core mechanic and the only way to improve is by getting your shit pushed in. Time to build a squad and liberate poor Jumper by force.
Want some easy training, get a large backpack and load it up with food and medkits and get yourself enslaved by the Holy Nation and taken to Rebirth. They will take all your gear, except for the backpack and whatever is in it. While enslaved you can train lockpicking by picking the locks on your shackles or cage. When you remove your shackles and put them into your inventory the guards are nice enough to provide you with another set which can allow you to easily train strength by encumbering yourself with a bunch of shackles while you walk around doing all your slave tasks. Train stealth and assassination by trying to knock out sleeping guards. Get your toughness and dodge skills up with free beatings from guards whenever you want one.
I love the idea that someone goes: “HERE, NEW SLAVE! If you ever get the chance to escape, let me mark something on your map!” And then foren going: “Tf, why has he marked a lone shack” And never critically thinking about it again
I often start as the slaves and just dismiss the other person. I have once escaped Rebirth while my char was missing both of her legs. I love that start.
Shaving the heads of slaves was a way to identify disobedient slaves. Only the most loyal slaves were allowed to have long hair in many cultures. Long hair and a slave brand could be enough to let shop keepers give you supplies and put it on your masters "tab" to be paid later or on previously accrued credit. Slaves still weren't allowed to carry money so that was the catch.
The bad news: You're locked up for life with no hope of ever being free if your captors have anything to say about it The good news: You're also an ageless immortal with super mutant wolverine healing and the learning capability of an android
Kenshi, oh man, i LOVE this game sooo much, it has a thousand bugs and explots but it is my favorite game along Dwarf Fortress. You can level up stealth, assassination exploting basic features and being basically a demigod (Perfectly balanced game for sure)
I love this, please continue this playthrough Laith! Would be great to see you gather an army to liberate Jumper later on! And perhaps even wage war against the holy nation :>
