About the board he's riding: it's a Crownboards Noble tribe, handmade in Belgium and (in my opinion) the best looking and best feeling longboards out there. You can actually buy them on the website of Crownboards, but they are limited because only 1 guy makes all these boards. I've been skating Crownboards for a couple of years and I will skate it for the years to come 😄

Hyo joo tricks are classified under dancing Hans trick are in the freestyle category (most similar to flat ground) Trick tip: for dancing tricks it's easier to flip your board upside down(trucks facing up) and practice the movements not moving
So if anyone want to buy this type of board just search for a dancer deck. They’ll probably be around 48”. Specifically this board is a crown board which drops once a week (think this may have changes after the panorama). If you want to find more info on this style it’s called longboard dancing.

If you wanna cruise on a longboard, put ur back knee forward, lean slightly back on your back thigh, bend, at knees, and push the board out from your body (as opposed to directly under your body) when turning. Think surfing (if that helps at all, probably not).
Longboard dancing is so much fun omg. Makes my trip to work fuuuuuuuucking sick. Also, at 4:00 mins, your assessment actually isn't right, or at least not for the peter pan step you were trying to learn at first. Those are actually 2 different steps, the cross step and the peter pan. Peter pan it's usually just right left right left etc while facing forward, turning with each foot 1 footed, and you can straight up jump between so you don't move forward and indefinitely "peter pan" (which is that crossover step you were learning at the starting point in the video, and then you swapped to doing a cross step where you take 2 steps in 1 turn along one of the sides. The whole point of longboard dancing is to get really comfortable standing in all these weird foot placements while turning in various directions/carving so that you can connect them into dance with the carving of your board, and as you get more comfortable in various positions, more will open up to you and your dancing can get cooler. I'd actually check out Hans wouters "longboard dancing fundamentals" video it's really good and explains the concept well. Also, thank you, I love longboard dancing thanks for featuring it.

When I saw the title I thought you were perpetuating that stereotype how long boarders aren’t cool, but as I watched on, I realized I share your pain! I do longboard dancing predominantly and it’s really hard to put my tricks together into a line that’s “cool” ie, flows well, carving properly, not needing to push much etc I always flip the board and then practice lines on it to see if the line I want to do flows well, and then well … see how it goes Very appreciative of how far your skating skills converts to the dancing stuff, so awesome dude!
John! You should look up Adam Colton how to longboard videos. Some of the best, most fun instruction guides ever. Pretty old now but sounds like what you'd be interested in 👍🏾

High-level longboad dancing is super cool looking. It's like classic freestyle skateboarding's even more elegant cousin. Certainly one of the most "flowy" kinds of skateboarding since it's all about graceful tricks while in constant forward motion.
gotta love how kickflips to front or back board start those cracks ha. on a real note though its super cool to see you exploring longboarding some too. i do both disciplines myself and have always felt like dabbling a bit in other types of skating helps us better understand what exactly it is we are doing out there on our trick boards.
The cruising move you're trying to do is called a cross step! It's part of a longboarding style called dancing which is the cool cruising you're trying to achieve. Check out Adam Colton's trick tips he does some real interesting stuff on a longboard.
I got into longboard dance/freestyle just over a year ago and the dancing is actually so much harder than the freestyle for me lol. It's definitely a lot harder than it looks. Just takes a lot of practice like any trick and you will smooth it out over time. Big inspirations for me have been: Hans Wouters, Natalie Pluto, Nick Jones and Brandon DesJarlais.

Great videos John, keep up the good work. It is too bad you don't live in my area because there are so many cool areas to longboard at. Skateboarding has really taken off here in Buffalo NY. Especially at SUNY Buffalo after covid 19 hit. The north campus is so fun to skate at because of the curvy roads that run through the campus and especially at the dorm areas where you can actually skate on the roof. Also, a mile from the campus is a skatepark that is a year old called Alex Rice skatepark. It was created after Alex was killed skating home from work. It is kind of sad that a skate park was created after a death, but it is a very nice skatepark that doesn't attract the bullies you see at some skateparks.
I agreee. I need to see more of John longboarding. I love the skateboarding, but having two different styles can be a nice breath of fresh air and a change of pace when one gets frustrating or starts to feel a bit stale.
My fave longboard is the Axel Serrat pro mod by arbor, it's a 39" board and is still a standard shape with a full grip job so can't really dance on it. The concave and general shape feels good for popping tricks and I think it's s good balance between a longboard and a standard board. Currently learning transition on it and it is loads of fun.
John, Quality as usual. Love the change up. With that in mind, you want to stay away from the Wylie skate park. The only park outside of California that was shat upon by the local government. Edit: To clarify, they dumped dirt on it so less would get the Covids.
Keep putting up some more long boarding content! Yes this is a skateboard first channel, but I think a little fresh injection of longboarding here and there might be nice
The way the cruising works is all based on rhythm and doing pumps on flat to keep going. It's definitely impressive stuff. I have a longboard too and it's hard to just 360 spin your body on it lol. You have to really put some trust in your own balancing skills.
