If this was done with a food grade binder it is perfect for when you accidentally drop a powder blush and it breaks, like I did with my favourite blush a few weeks ago!
@saritavenkatapathynaidu9533
No, no… use drops of alcohol on a shattered blush to restore it. Gum Arabic isn’t dangerous but it’s just going to bind the pigment to only move like paint, see? The actual color only moves with water when you bind it with gum Arabic, so it will apply and dry on your face as watercolor. Which doesn’t blend. It’s not dangerous or wrong but it’s hella wasteful unless you want to paint a LOT of that color on paper.
@saritavenkatapathynaidu9533
(I say this because gum Arabic, while labeled for art here, is acid+ glycerin, and buying a gum Arabic specifically labeled “food grade” will do the same as the video) The reason we have cosmetic chemists is to keep things safe and effective. Use a alcohol to repair and repan, mix a little with vaseline or baby oil, but don’t expect it not to spoil or to apply like formulated, preserved cosmetics that blend and move and work with a brush or a sponge or hands, see?

As an artist, I would definitely not use art materials on my skin. That’s a great way to get a rash OR expose yourself to really toxic materials. Lol Edit: I am well aware of what the gum Arabic is. I know it’s safe for humans. BUT what you don’t know is, Windsor and Newton may be including other additives that might not be as safe, because it’s an art material, not a food ingredient.🤦‍♀️ They are held to a different standard. They don’t need to disclose information. Lol If you wanna put it on your skin. Go for it. I really don’t care. My point is, by doing so (because it’s not a cosmetic grade item) you may get a rash. And in general, you don’t want to be putting art materials on your skin, because traditionally artists do work with toxic compounds. 🤦‍♀️😂 (And yes, we do work with materials that AREN’T, but if you aren’t familiar with the materials - like an artist - then you may not know what is and is not safe to expose your skin to)

But I think it was meant to be used quickly for photos.. still wouldn’t be something I’d want to put on my skin. 😂 I primarily work in ceramics which is great because it’s an organic material that doesn’t really affect anything. But I still wear gloves and am careful when I glaze. Thankfully lead isn’t a common element to work with now days. But I know of some artists that sometimes it use for sculpture work. The gum arabic binder that you bought is specifically meant for whatercolor paints. it has extra additives in it that make the paints much harder once they have been panned up and then they reactivate with water. the Gum arabic you actually want to buy for use in makeup is a food grade powder that you mix with water. It has no extra additives and is skin safe and meant for use in food and makeup. When you get it you mix a small amount with water in a small squeeze bottle or jar and then wait 24 hours for it to fully dissolve and clarify. Then you can use it in makeup. Keep it on the fridge when you aren't using it and because it can go bad over time as it is a naturally derived plant resin. When you are turning it from powder into water, the ratio you mix it in is determined by how you plan to use it. Gum arabic is part of the ingredients for setting spray, natural hairspray, cream makeups, eye liners, and so much more. you can find lots of resources online for what kind of ratios to use depending on which products you want to make. hope this helpS!

They make products specific for skin. I wouldn’t use an art binder for watercolor on the skin because it could really hurt you. There’s additives in it that can be unsafe and the product overall was never meant to be on skin so you should maybe not use it on your face. They do sell products for skin tho! I don’t want to sound judgmental or anything I am just nervous for your skin and health!!
@LDaemontus
@LDaemontus Год назад
No, no. Go off, sis. There's absolutely a time & place to provide accurate judgement for poor choices made and you don't need to validate someone else's emotions first before doing so, particularly that of a grown woman who needs to act and be better after producing a seperate shorts lecturing other people about not using products correctly. You're correct about the additives found within art supply mediums and you're also correct about it being damaging to one's health and skin. There's a reason why any professional artist will explain that to perform traditional art, you need to accquire sound understanding of safety for handling different chemicals because various products have been tied to certain cancers and certain products most certainly can burn or irritate the skin. The lesson here is that before taking on a new project, one must research and ask to ensure one's doing it correctly (and safely).

I just created cream blush out of coconut oil and lipstick....melt the lipstick (dont over heat or it will splatter 🫣) and heat the coconut oil up to get a liquid consistency then mix together, pop in ghe freezer for a bit and voila! A super moisturizing cream blush/cheek tint! Also you can use it as a lip balm as well!!! Its gonna be so perfect this summer ☺️ Also the amount of lipstick you use will obviously have an effect on how pigmented your end product will be, personally im using the "tin" from a tealight candle and plan to make small amounts of different colors and levels of pigment until i find the "perfect" consistency but so far this 1 has me obsessed and excited to try all the colors!!! 😱😁

if you have leftover cream blushes and powder ones you can xrush them together and melt in microwave 20 seconds(stir before it cools down).maybe add a crumb or two of coconut oil to the mixture to make it moister and sheerer.

I REALLY wouldn’t put paint mixing supplies on your skin. Some of it can be toxic or extremely drying. Gum Arabic is used in watercolors so if you look at watercolors after they dry, they start cracking sometimes, imagine that on your skin. 😬😬😬

Maybe use "cream" moisturizer, since you're suopose to be making cream blush? I saw someone else taking that route, and it kooked good. I'm going to try it too! It will be a game changer. If it is successful, however, I wonder how long will it last? 😅
