Here is a cover and transcription of the saxophone solo from "Tank" from Cowboy Bebop OST. This is from the lockdown version SEATBELTS did, so not the original OST, but Masato Honda ‪@masatohonda6901‬ burns here as well...🔥 It was slightly faster than anticipated, that end lick, I need more classical tonguing for that, obviously. This was part of a test on the Theo Wanne "FIRE" mouthpiece, tip opening 8.

Hi all, this was part of testing a few different Theo Wanne mouthpieces for an upcoming review video. The concept was to match each of the 4 different mouthpieces I got from them to one of my solo transcriptions. This mouthpiece is called "Fire", and as you can hear I'm not used this high baffle mouthpiece. A superb piece! But these kind of mouthpieces are harder to intonate as you can hear (but I'll go more in depth in the review video). And yeah, that last ending lick... my tongue is not nearly fast enough, so that didn't make to much sense haha😂. Anyways, hope it was fun seeing me struggle a bit. Next week I'll be dropping avideo reviewing these 4 Theo Wanne mouthpieces, which I soundmatched to particular players and solo: -Gaia 4 - Earth 2 -NY Bros - Fire (that's this one) Let me know what you think! Did it match somehow a bit Masato Honda? /Jorre

I used to learn saxophone as my 3rd mandatory instrument in music school and my teacher was a "pig". I did not mind but it is humor for middle aged dirty alcoholics. Anyway, when I used the phrase that my tongue was not fast enough to play that phrase, hillarity ensued and a lot of compassion for my girlfriend was being sent by him hahahahhah.

@Muros you know, my wife has that exact middle aged dirty alcoholics humor when I explained I never could fix that ending because of the tonguing 😂😂

the end of the solo is really hard! there you need to quickly change the production from altissimo to the usual

Yes, that's hard, but I already lost it at "speed of the tongue" I'm afraid 😂. Also when this would have been in the normal range, I wouldn't have been able to tongue it in time

As an alto sax player, I don't even blame you a teeny bit for choosing the easy version of this solo, homie. I will say this, though: I have an *OLD* old Beechler mouthpiece (no white diamond!), and I use a Tenor reed on the Alto mouthpiece (about a 2½ or a 3; I like a lot of control), and it makes the flow, growl, and altissimo come out really well. Earl Bostic (of "Harlem Nocturne" fame) would use a Tenor reed on his Alto mouthpiece (which was also a Beechler, of all things), and it was his preferred style.

Thanks Lucas, but that first altissimo run at the end really made no sense 😂 but that would take me months of single tonguing training (classical studies) to maybe get it up to speed,

It was literally about the end lick where I really don't have nearly the speed of single tonguing required
