For the most part, Episode is pay to win. It depends on the story, but most of them give you bad choices if you don't use gems. Although, that can be fun too. If your goal is to make terrible choices, it can be very cheap to play. But with that said, some choices in a story are a lot more important than others. If you want to save gems, you need to be selective about what you use them on. Don't waste them on getting a perfect outfit to wear or getting a fancier car to drive. Save them for choices that have the biggest impact on the direction the story takes.
