I am flying this route in February 2024 on business class, look forward to flying Singapore Airlines, been flying with them few times, never disappoint!
I've flown that route in both business and premium economy several times. The worst part is not the long flight, but JFK. Compared to Changi, it is, honestly, a real dump.
People who haven't flown through JFK can like this comment, but it's only until you experience the craptasticness of JFK first-hand that one can truly appreciate how accurate this comment is
For those paying in $$ instead of points, this Flight (JFK to SIN) costs as low as $600 this winter. Roughly the same price as a transatlantic flight to Europe.
Great price. I flew premium economy JFK-SIN-DPS in 2022. I paid $2200 RT. I booked the tickets 6 months out. I learned then to book seats as soon as they release. I could have purchased biz class for $3600 had I purchased tickets as soon as they were released.
8:42 - 8:52 WOW! That is a very long distance to travel. And 16:04 - 16:49 makes it seem even longer! 😳 Definitely can't wait to tackle this myself one day
I have SFO to SIN in SQ premium economy coming up in a couple weeks. I was pleasantly surprised my flight was on the A350-900ULR. "Only" 17.5 hours. All the throne seats were booked so I got the exit row for unlimited leg room. I'm 6'5" and am seriously wondering what the cash upgrade to business will be.
Awesome Review what a epic journey! Come around late 2025 if Qantas’s ‘Project Sunrise’ goes to Plan you should be able to fly all the way direct some 19 hours on a A350-1000 from JFK to Sydney!
Great video. Very comprehensive. I have the same flight booked for June. Did you have the option to bid on a mySQupgrade and if so, did you try it? I’m curious to know what that process is about. Does anyone know if I can upgrade to business just using points? And is it worth it? Does it matter if I paid cash for the ticket or not?
I don’t believe I was offered “mySQupgrade” that’s a good perk. If premium was fine I bet business was better in that route. So if you can I’d say go for it
Typically with SQ you can't upgrade an award ticket. Although I've had an award economy ticket with them and at the 72 hrs prior to departure mark I was offered a cash upgrade to PE. If your ticket was purchased with cash, however, then yes you are eligible to upgrade to business using points. The caveat here is that you can't have purchased a "lite" fair as those are not eligible for upgrades. As far as "is it worth it?" only you can answer that. If you buy into PE with cash then upgrade to business with points for say JFK--SIN using 94,000 miles at the "advantage" award rate....well what else can you do with 94,000 miles? If you have a better use for said miles use them elsewhere, if not then 94,000 is perhaps well spend being comfortable. The cash delta for PE to Business on that flight is usually substantial so it's often a solid point value.
The TWA hotel is the worst hotel I ever stayed in. The employee think they don’t have to work. I booked a room by the runway and I didn’t get what I paid for.
I’m sorry. Coming from one the meanest fan bases? I hope you’re joking. I have received the most nonsense from yankee fans. Y’all are the ones that need to be nicer.
No, not joking at all. My family and I are always welcoming to opposing fans. We’ve even been to Camden Yards and cheered the Orioles. So don’t paint us with the whole brush. But honestly, you should’ve deleted the idiot that made such a snotty remark on a travel channel. And furthermore, you have thousands of subscribers - why would you give a shit what I think?
Sorry for your misery @wotan10950 but as a lifelong “old” Yankees fan myself I think it’s fun hearing playful banter from other teams fans. I think these are the absolute best part sof the videos, the comments, because it’s cute that other teams hate us cuz they ain’t us…that being said we had a horrible season but it’s over now so it should just be all love, peace, and chicken grease to all baseball mankind. This coming from the biggest Yankees fan in the heart of Red Sux territory. Which should make YOU my #1 fan ❤❤❤❤ And John….im ok with that because I’ll be sitting next to you in the other seat pointing out all the fun Yankees knowledge I can share with you THE WHOLE RIDE 😬
@mattsmoments2 hahaha, yeah man. Terminal A is OUTSTANDING...it's like 'welcome to the 21st century Newark, you're finally getting your shit together.' Terminal B unfortunately (which handles the flight to Singapore and all the other internationals) is still a hopelessly outdated, dreary, crappy experience. I never arrive early and just hang out there, I check in and head to the gate with less than an hour till departure. The payoff is when you get to Changi....world's best airport hands down.
I’ve traveled this route both in premium economy and business class. Both were amazing. Thankfully my business class was from Singapore to JFK, the Silverkris lounge was absolutely amazing. Had it been from JFK the lounge would have been very disappointing
The cheapest you can get onto premium economy might be $1010 with connection to SQ910 Singapore to Manila. For the original longest flight SQ21 it gets $863 as it's cheapest fare if the Final Destination was Manila Philippines. Because these two Singapore Airlines longest flights are timed to have a guaranteed connection with them within 2 hours of Landing in Singapore. Ahead of your plane was the A380 EY and EK back to the UAE. That used to be operated by Singapore Airlines to New York as the 8:30 p.m. departure to Singapore via Frankfurt. Also still guaranteed a connection to MNL on SQ910. At the same time you might have seen its competitor PR126 land here while SQ23 is about to take off.
It was good to see what Premium Economy was like but for only an extra 30,000 points I would go business every time, absolutely no comparison. 80,000 for PE is not worth it.
I would have but didn’t fully have it. The only second thought I had was if I should have just paid cash for the seat. PE was fine I enjoyed it. I plan to showcase most airlines’ different cabins as time goes along. Thank you for watching.
For a return long haul flight from Australia to Germany or England is anywhere from 120,000 - 250,000 points. Multiply that by a family of 4, Premium Economy will do us just nicely seeing as over 1 million points is an something we can never achieve and still have to pay a LOT of money + points. PE is a luxury for us we will likely only be able to afford once in our lifetime.
@@eviek3809 For flying cheaply with a family, I would not choose a non-stop super long flight in coach or even PE. Probably not even a direct flight with an hour stop. I'd go with a 2 or 3 hour connection, or even an overnight connection with hotel, to break it up and regroup. The longest flight I took my kids on was 11 hours London to Cape Town, to avoid a longer flight USA to Cape Town. A night in a hotel by Heathrow in each direction made it much easier. Alone, I flew direct London-Singapore-Brisbane, which was 14 hours, 1 hour on the ground, then 7 hours, so 22 hours on the airplane except for a leg stretch in the Singapore terminal. Then I hit a lounge in Brisbane and caught a flight to Townsville. Long day. On the way back, I stayed on the plane in Singapore, because of the amount of hassle there was re-boarding without carry on luggage in Singapore. They said it was fine to get off the plane, but the gate agents and airport security didn't get that memo. They acted like I was trying to exchange places with a terrorist or something.
Great trip report. I definitely would love to fly on this flight one day. I recently flew on the Frankfurt to JFK route, and it was the best flight of my life. Singapore Airlines is incredible.
Good job mate👍 We have flown with Singapore Airlines several times. I liked everything very much. There are several trip reports on my channel, next time we chose Singapore Airlines again
December will be the 2nd time flying SIA prem. eco. but this time my son & I will both be in a solo seats😂 Can’t wait for our 3 wks vacation to the Philippines. Booked our flts Feb. & now the tkts are so expensive for the same dates.
I've never done the JFK or EWR departure, but I do know the A350-ULR experience from SFO and LAX, which ends up a couple of hours shorter. It never feels like you're on the plane as long as the clock says you are. The service, comfort, and food are routinely top-tier for Premium Economy travel in 2024. Looking forward to another go this fall.
Easily an 8 or 8.5. I’ve been on some less than comfy 16hr flights before. I know this is two hours longer but in premium economy was a solid 2nd place to the business class
Im flying the end of Oct and have been concerned about the comfort in PE. I booked the emergency exit two seats because im claustrophobic. Thanks for your video, great job. One question, how were the restrooms mid flight to the end? I hate nasty bathrooms. Lol
You can keep headphones or earpeices. If they state so. Economy earpeices can be kept depending on whag SIA gives you. Oh yeah its not chang-ee its actually Chan- e
Although I enjoyed your Blog very much, it’s a shame that the current flight routing is what it is due to Russian Airspace issues. But i thought this was down to the Airlines discretion? That routing though, looked very circuitous …what a shame.
So I do know also that the route can vary based on the winds. Sometimes this route has flown west over Canada and Alaska and down or it goes eastbound over Europe and Middle East.
@@mattsmoments2 Just got to The landing portion of the video. Definitely subscribed to your channel. I would love to be a flight vlogger but have no idea how to edit video. You are one of only two flight reviewers that actually shows how much the premium economy seat reclines. It's such an important detail, especially on this long of a flight, so thank you so much for that!! With my spine being fused, I don't think I could handle doing this in anything but business or first, but if I tried to get across the pond from USA Central Time, I could probably handle 9 hours in the premium economy seat.
I've managed the only slightly shorter SFO / SIN on the same aircraft. Could not agree more in terms of the quality of the Singapore Airlines product. Thank you for the video.
@@alyonapetrova694 Lots to love about the ULR version of the aircraft used for 1 of the two daily flights out of SFO. Not only the solo seats in the rear of Premium Economy, but given that there are only two classes of travel, the capacity maxes out at 171, so check-in and the waiting area are less congested and more relaxed. If you're going to be on a flight that long, it's a nice way to go.
Ignore the ignorant comments of snotty people who have nothing but negative things to say! My Mother always said if you have nothing nice to say keep your mouth shut!
Why on earth are you wearing your hat back to front is it because you think it makes you look cool 1 Do you wear your jeans back to front If you do i bet people don't know if you're coming or going
Oh darn! Another commenter that doesn’t like a backwards hat. Trust me there’s plenty awesome creators that wear them. Sorry it bothers you. I bet we could find issues with you. Thank you for watching. Cheers!
mind your own asshole. no body ask for your opinion on hat and definitely you wasting your time telling stupid things about how others live their life. you better thinking about what you eat or how you start mind your own assholes and what comes out of it or enters it. at the end, no body give a shit about what you have in mind.
To get to places like Indonesia for epic scuba diving with fewer flights - I did it last year in business class, but premium economy doe not look that bad if on the side and traveling with someone - middle seats would be tougher!
It went fine, I was asleep for most of it, it was pretty nice, food and service were good, entertainment could have been better though. I’m actually writing this in Thailand
