my wife wanted to try this as a side hustle to bring in some extra cash every month so i've been watching videos on it. this is the first video I've found that actually came off as honest. those youtubers out there claiming to make $20k/month are just clickbait assholes. they got into that world early which allowed them to establish their etsy store long before the rush of people and now they just milk it further by making bullshit videos. They probably make more off the video claim than they do their store. Your results come off as what an actual regular person can expect if they try to get into this today

@Potatorant Everyone says that, find a niche... ???... profit! Newsflash your AI consulting/art side hustle is not going to make you a millionaire in a few months xD you need real skills to start a business, not type in a prompt and rake in cash. People are delusional to what it takes to make money from a proper business. If you think all you need is AI to be successful then do I have a bridge to sell. Better use of AI would be to learn skills, build up a portfolio of work, help review your work... then get a job that pays decently. Once you are past that hurdle, build upon your skills/experience and develop business acumen and other high-value skills which you will use to help you start a business - note some of the most boring and common businesses (ie lawnmowing, garbage collecting, trades businesses etc.) make insane money, don't try and chase the next shiny new trend because the only people making money on AI ChatGPT businesses that are those who make RU-vid videos on it.

Honesty? He showed how dishonest he is by bumping up the price and then applying discount. He should have sold it at a certain price for 6 months and then applied discount to be honest. Etsy should not allow discounts to be applied immediately aswell, they should require the product to be sold for 6 months before that price can be discounted against.

Just a small nitpicky math note: Marking it up by 15% and then setting it to 15% off isn’t a zero sum calculation. For example, a $50.00 item +15% ($57.50) will be ~$48.88 at 15% off.
@SuSpicious9748
@SuSpicious9748 Год назад
Still $6.38 more than just a straight 15% off discount on the $50.00. So a $6.38 on a little bit of a sales manipulation. Not much, but could help the bottom line with all of those fees that etsy charged.

This is the thing that people don't seem to comprehend when starting an Etsy shop and/or an e-commerce business in general - results don't happen overnight. If your expectation is to make quick art and sell it quickly on these shops, you might as well throw in the towel now. Like with any business, getting traffic to your site is key. You need traffic to convert to sales. Most people get discouraged after a month or two because they see little to no traffic and think it means their products aren't good enough. Which leads ro failure. If you believe in your work or what you are offering, then sticking with it, putting in the effort and continuing to learn how the business works to bring traffic to your shop, is the only way to have a successful business. I know a few people that started from scratch with their shops. On average it took them 6-8 months to start seeing steady, profitable sales. All three are about 2 or more years into their shops and doing quite well. Now they are implementing AI work into their process and things have really taken off. So it takes time. Just like any other business. No different than starting a RU-vid channel. It doesn't happen overnight. If you aren't willing to invest your time, effort and money, then you won't see the results. So this was a good video for anyone getting into the space. To understand this is a marathon, not a sprint. Set your expectations, base those expectations in REALITY, research the business and put in the work. These are the keys to making things happen.

it's 20 CENTS PER LISTING!. All of these passive income youtubers NEVER EXPLAIN this. If you have 100 artworks to sell, THAT'S $20 that you are gambling on. After the sale (if you sell any), it's almost TEN percent (6.5% * 3.5% PLUS another 25 cents) they take from you.

At last! A realistic AI art video that doesn't promise we can all make $15,000 a month from a few prints. Its not easy. Even with the ads, its about 25c-45c a click, and you need a lot of clicks to make a sale. So with low profit items, I even find the ads are costing more than the profit on the sales they generate.

My favorite thing about this is that you gave genuine, honest feedback. Every channel out there is absolute clickbait, telling people they can make 30k a month by doing absolutely nothing. Generating art for print on demand products is HARD. It's time consuming and can be expensive. Nothing is completely free or completely passive income. You gained a sub for your honesty 👌

What about Copyright Infringment? Having myself applied for protection from the United States Trademark and Patent Office, a lot of people think they will grab some art somewhere and sell on any platform to make some quick $$$$. The USPTO asserts that if a person or artist creates art which is his work, that image, photo, drawing, sketch, watercolor, oil color, etc becomes his art and gets copyright protection even if he didn't not actually file with USPTO. Trademark is a different deal, If you file with USPTO to protect your product, mark, slogan, music, you are issued a registration which means people are not to use your creation, logo, art, etc. Patent is a different animal like if you invent something, your invention will be protected too. So having said this, people should not rush to grab someone's work and peddling on platforms as if it was yours with the exception the art or creation is public domain. Here also, USPTO decides what and what is not public domain. Take a few art classes and start watercoloring or oil painting what you like or create art digitally on any software. You can use sketchbook, Canva, GIMP, Paintshop Pro, Coreldraw, etc. You can even use ipad with electronic paint. You can even use just carbon pencil, once your art is done scan it and fit with the platform's specs as far as DPI, pixels, size, ratios is concern.
