My dream came true. Singapore-exclusive sake is officially launched! Celebrate CNY with Hiroki Junmai Daiginjo Huat Ah Pineapple Label! $20off for a limited time😆 AND Don't Forget to use the Free Shipping Voucher ah!🍍 linktr.ee/ghibojisan
Surely they can make profit with $7.90. Average person can eat like max 3 plain prata? Prata itself is just flour, oil, water dough. Options like mushroom (canned), pineapple (canned), cheese (processed), banana, honey (most likely syrup)...all these add-ons don't cost much.😆 Egg prata won't be crispy...egg is wet. You have "saved" the money by taking a grab instead of the walking from nearby Kembangan LOL They have seen your camera the attitude/service will change. Cockroaches don't usually appear during day time and when there are so much movement around. Kembangan has many private houses and condo. P.S. it's read as kerm-bung gun
Even if they read your order wrongly, it should've been 10 pratas. They even served multiple random plain pratas. This might be my first time trusting reviews about the food and the staff.
The guy came over to confirm with Ghib if he wanted 1, 2, 3 and 4 of each type. When Ghib confirmed he only wants 1 of each, then the guy attempted to amend the order but he can only change the quantity of Type 4 because they already started cooking the others. So he got 1, 2 and 3 of each type but only 1 of the 4th type. That makes 7!
At regular prata places, the options with premium ingredients such as mushroom cheese may cost around $2.5 ... and having 3 of those will usually be too many for average eaters and will cost less than $8. So unless you can really eat a lot, this buffet is probably not worth it, also those pratas and gravy seems below average.
Excellent video! Domo arigato gozaimasu. The one thing which struck and stuck with me is the extremely positive attitude which you had in your visit and taste-test of the prata buffet and yet being very realistic with no sugarcoating nor disingenuity. Personally, after watching the video and observing the staff at the restaurant, i think that the allegations of the staff being "rude" could be due to the fact that they may not understand what was being conveyed to them and vice versa i.e. miscommunication. Moreover, Singaporeans are notorious for being impatient. Once again, thank you for the video! p.s. Pineapple sake, yes please!
Prata looks decent for $7.90.. but cant eat that much tho 😅 2-3 pc is enough for me. Nice Pineapple CNY Sake!!! Gonna order as gift for family just in time! 🎉
I had the buffet a year ago with my wife at night. The staff initially told me that they only served the buffet in a specific period in the afternoon. When I asked to see the boss and told them that we came all the way down from the west, the team acceded my request Their pratas were pretty good and glad that we did not see any insects crawling around
They serve you more plain to stop you from ordering other more expensive prata. This just shows how disgusting the shop practices and the cockroaches is. Anyway, their special cockroach prata you never try?
That's it, you're onto their trick. They give mostly plain prata's to fill you up and stop you ordering the better or more costly ones. It's not the cockroaches that would scare me away, it's one look at these guys, they sure did look creepy, at least they could try smiling.
You actually can return the plain prata because you didn't order them, and wait for your actual order. The plain pratas are probably made in advance. So ordering non-plain ones are the way to go. Cockroaches is hard to ignore especially in places like these which are near drains, road sides and has back door access to garbage disposals. Anyways, no one can finish up 7 pratas but you did? lol! I can probably eat 2-3 max that's already pushing it haha! Thank you for sharing your experience so that I don't have to try it lol!
Even in front of a camera, they can show their dishonest ways. Imagine without. First they tried bullshit their way out by gaslighting you, blaming you for not giving them a clear order sheet. Let's say give them the benefit of the doubt and that they really misunderstood your order. Why did they still give you wrong pratas after clarifications? Simply because plain pratas are cheaper and higher profit margain. What a scam. 10/10 should avoid.
Hi Ghib,, wah i still hv the osake that i order last time n now i used it for cooking,, wow you can eat alot of that prata . it looks ok but shojiki tabetakunai ne 😂,, till the next vlog Ghib,, Huat Ah ,, 👍😬
I’m a Singaporean living in aus, and I love watching your videos because it reminds me of the little quirks of Singapore. Your enthusiasm for everything sg warms my heart!!
the cockroach is a common sight at night since i eat that place night time i see it roaming around but also when busy the staff do indeed get a bit rude during busy hours so who can complain it a 7.90 prata buffet
Next stop you shd try is.. Prata at Saffron Restaurant. They serve their pratas with sambal (a malay/indonesian chilli sauce) & curry. Thts like a fusion mix of indo-malay & indian! U can also try the Mee Kuah & their best seller Nasi Briyani!!
Great for you to visit my neighbourhood! Welcome! You should try Al Jasra's tandoori and yes I saw your look when you felt full... 😂😂 This buffet is only for the young; I can't afford the carbs...
Yes I went there for supper and I sit the side that few tables combines. I saw a cockroaches climb on one girl leg and she screamed. I ordered a tosai masala. It tasted normal and price wise normal. Wont go back anymore. If u want to experience Malaysia mamak style in Singapore, you will like here. HAHAHA
The pratas looked good though...But guess having cockroaches running around is definitely a BIG NO NO for me. Seriously how many can one eat at one go. They wouldn't come up with this buffet if they are going to be running a loss. The most I can eat is 1 egg with onion and 1 kosong
Wow a singapore sake concoction! Huat ah! Pineapple sake! Incredible. I am seriously considering ordering it. I will be sharing this with my friends. Do u have a separate short video clip on the singapore sake? That would help a lot when I share it with my SG friends and foreigner friends resident in SG
It doesn’t make sense to try this buffet unles you really WANT to eat like 10 pratas. Most people eat 1 egg 1 kosong already enough. Comfortably maybe can eat 4, 2 egg + 2 kosong, which will cost $7.60 at Casuarina. Plus an Iced Teh, at 1.60, you'll spend $9.20 in total. Casuarina should taste better than this place, the coloured syrup drink is also so cheap to make. I don't see how it is worth it.
Indian prata is never known for being "Clean".... I mean if you dunno anything about prata shop... you will be shocked... This is how prata shop is.... very indian style....
LOL ya it ain't that cheap actually considering max most people can eat is like 2 or 3. That drink is basically flavoured neon coloured syrup water. Ghib needs to refrain from commenting things are so cheap all the time while most things are going up and up.
A few years back before they implemented the 'start 3pm' timing, I could spend half a day there just eating. The most I've had in one seating was about 20ish pratas myself.... spend 6 hours there from noon till dinnertime and you'll have eaten your fill seriously And their pratas from my few times patronizing them were okay (I've been there at least 5 times over the past few years). Not the super delicious ones, but not cheapo made ones either. For maximum value I'd usually go with mushroom cheese, mushroom egg, mushroom egg cheese pratas My final time though, was before Covid, and it scared the shit outta me because at my 8th-9th prata that seating I felt lightheaded - stopped eating immediately and just waited for it to wear off. Was worried I'd have a stroke on the spot or something (Pratas are very high cholesterol). Never been there since.
aiyo.... why go for this kind of buffet. all carbs and oil only. 1 prata usually about $1.50-2. eat 3 prata alr more than enough for the average human being. no need pay $7.90 for this la. zzzz
The open field behind of the MRT has closed and going to be a place for new HDBs, kinda sad. Also, check out the Bak Kwa shop which is just a few shops besides of the prata shop that you went. Please try their signature Pineapple Bak Kwa, it is sugoi umai!
I eat this like everyday but specifically the prata and for breakfast only there’s a mixed veg rice behind my condo that’s cheap and worth trying at the HDB near the MRT and the prata next door is a competitor but they taste the same to me
3:11 Ghib: Do u make profit??? indian guy nods heads...hahaha lollll hahah don't know how he can misinterpret your order... one shot give u 1+2+3+1 = 7 pratas at one go 🤣🤣🤣 really joker place
NEA officer's are they doing a proper check on the dirty prata shops. Eat snake? I avoid prata shops especially dirty prata makers with dirty apron, unsightly stores layout.
I saw you write 1. 2. 3. 4. and I went "oh shit, sure come out 10 prata". Just 2 telur bawang and 2 kosong and 1 iced teh tarik eat until cannot stand up already. It's all just flour you know. Anyway, those prata looked terrible. Not fried for long enough.
I think Ghib is quite easily satisfied with the standard of prata. There is nothing special and the curry is terrible, so watery. Also the shop seems to give everyone plain prata to save on costs.
Knowing a normal person's stomach capacity for pratas, the stall can still make money. Averaging the most one can eat is 3 pratas, you don't need to pay $7.90 for 3 pratas elsewhere. Nothing cheap about this deal.
That or any other business operating the way they do will have a tough time keeping cockroaches out. It's too much in the open. They can try their best with traps etc.....but cockroaches will definitely turn up there.
Great video, I loved the Buddhist monasteries in Nepal and Boudha Stupa, all so peaceful to be in and around and of course not forgetting the colourful prayer flags everywhere 👍🇳🇵
i've been to this place twice. both day times so maybe that's why no cockroaches then. no stomachaches either. but their prata is def below average. once the prata arrives you better finish it fast while it's hot. just 5 minutes and it'll become rubbery and lousy. they do also scringe. i recall seeing half a slice of cheese instead of a full slice. but no complaints for a $7.90 buffet.
When it comes to prata in Singapore, Chindamani, situated at 151A Serangoon North Ave 1, #01-81, stands out as my top choice. Renowned for its unparalleled crispiness, Chindamani's prata surpasses others, including the famous Jalan Kayu prata, in both texture and taste. Be mindful of potential queues, as its popularity peaks during morning and lunch hours. Additionally, it's worth noting that Chindamani has earned the prestigious 'Food King' rating. My recommendation is based solely on personal experience, without any sponsorship from Chindamani. So, why not swing by and savor their prata for an authentic culinary delight 😂
