I find the Perky Perm directions to be almost impossible to read- white letters on a yellow background. I haven’t used my kit yet because I can’t figure out if a number is a “5” or a “6”
I know this video is from 4 months ago but this is by far the best hair tool I've ever purchased in my life and I'm 51 years old. My hair is almost straight and fine texture and my youngest daughter has almost straight hair that is fine but she has about four times the amount of hair that I have. This makes my hair look perfect and shiny and look like it has no dead ends. Everyone keeps asking did I dye my hair did I get a haircut and I just keep saying no it's just my Dyson 😂 I literally get my hair from wet to dry in about 4 minutes and 47 seconds. Now I've watched a bunch of people use this machine prior to purchase I've also watched Dyson's videos and read the instructions. It seems that no RU-vidrs have done that, because you're initially supposed to dry your hair with the airstrait in the closed position as a blow dryer to dry your roots first then you proceed with the straightening process making sure that it's in wet hair mode. Then when you finish your hair your roots are also dry. But people are going in on their soaking wet hair and then complaining that they can't get close enough to dry the roots but had they read the instructions and watched the videos they would have known to dry their roots first. I wear my hair straight everyday I used to let it mostly air dry and it looks pretty raggedy but I didn't want to spend the time to blow dry my hair till it was smooth and dry. But I took the chance and bought the are straight at the end of February of this year and I was in love after the first use. I felt like it was taking me about 10 minutes to do the whole process of drying the roots and then straightening my hair which I thought was amazing until I set the timer. I did this repeatedly 3 days in a row and averaged 4 minutes and 47 seconds (within 5 seconds all 3 times) and not only was my hair done in less than 5 minutes but I look like I came out of a salon with glass hair. So many people kept commenting, my co-workers, my customers at that point I know it wasn't just me trying to convince myself that I wanted to keep it, my hair actually did look incredible. And my daughter who originally made fun of me fell in love with it also but she loves curling her hair so naturally she purchased the Airwrap. But she's still comes over and uses my Airstrait to smooth her roots because none of the Airwrap tools do as good a job as the Airstrait does. It's amazing but it literally has no other uses. Don't expect to flip your hair out or give yourself waves or curl it like you can with a straightener. It literally just dries your hair and makes it straight, shiny and perfect. Period. No flyaways sticking up all over my head. It just makes it so smooth. Chef's kiss 😘
I was very skeptical when I decided to buy this. Too expensive, etc. BUT, it was exactly what I needed (if it worked as they say). I always dry my hair and use a straightener afterwards (~45min). My hair is a bit wavy, all over the place, with volume and quite frizzy. So, to cut the story short, not only the airstrait dries and straightens my hair (~25 minutes) but also keeps it shiny, smooth, no frizz AND most important it lasts at least two days (two nights) which is the time it takes for me to wash my hair again. And, something I tested the other day when it finally rained... Virtually no frizz, which did not happen with the straightener (with humidity and rain it would always get frizzy in a minute.) I have to be honest I was not expecting it to work so well. I have the Airwrap and my hair gets frizzy no matter how I use it. I think I'm gonna sell it now. I think the airstrait probably won't work as well with curly or very curly hair but I cannot say. Seriously I never expected this to work better than a straightener (a good one). Very important, use it correctly. Take small pieces of hair with each pass and do it slowly (I barely need more than one pass when I do this). The cool mode is the last step and an extremely important one. Also, it can be used in dry hair and works just as fine (better than the straightener). Boost mode is top. Well, I guess I can stop saying bad things about dyson hair tools now.
I think we have similar hair. I dry mine with the airwrap and use a straightener afterwards but I look like an exploded pillow after a few hours although I put a lot of oil and a petite amount of hairspray in it. It’s so annoying. If this tool ain’t too big for my small head and my really fine hair I would try it, keep it and sell the Airwrap. I don’t like curls anyway. 😅
I've only ever seen people with hair on the straight or barely wavy side try this, I wonder what it would do with hair that's actually very wavy or curly
One major benefit for the corrale is it can be used for travel unlike the airstrait and airwrap. But you're right it is heavy and that's also something to consider when traveling
I bought an airstrait last month (Australia) I love mine but there are definitely cons but I feel I get a hairdresser quality blow dry which works for everyday. But I just wanted to say I have seen so many reviews and Tina’s is the best and most accurate one I’ve seen. Thank you
Wow! Tina, I watched do many reviews on Dyson Airstrait. And decided not to buy it. BUT! After your video I’ve changed my mind!!! Today I finally will buy it!!! Thank you for this review❤
Thank you for a thorough review. With Dyson hair tools if you understand them they can work for you. I like how you went through all the features, maintenances, testing it on wet + dry hair and using it for a week. I got to think about if this would fit in my routine. I would use this nearly every day and save the other Dyson hair tools for when I achieve other looks. I workout and sweat every day . I need an under 15 minutes. This also seems like if you were styling your hair everyday this would cause the least amount of heat damage. This review was well organized.
I have an airstrait. The vents aren’t straight, they’re slanted so I find one side of my head dries nice it’s pushes the hair slightly forward but when I go to do the other side it pushes the hair in backwards direction creating a kink that drives me crazy. I have to try to over compensate for this in the way I hold the airstrait. To me, if you’re going to put in directional vents instead of straight down ones you should have a way to change the direction of the airflow. Also and I ordered on launch day in the UK and didn’t get a heat mat, a case, a holder, nothing. Just came in a box that you throw away. The plug like you say is insanely heavy and weighs down the plug in the socket, I sometimes find the plug leaning out of the socket slightly because of the weight. I have a few niggles but to be fair I haven’t picked up a traditional hairdryer or straightener since I bought it.
😭is it just me or y’all too love her voiceeee!!! it’s so soothing and therapeutic, i watch her videos just bec of her voice (her videos are fun too). i think tina you should do an asmr video please
Thank you so much for all your advice. I wish to purchase this for my daughter . She has bleached hair so straightening irons are not a good thing for her hair. Good bless you ❤
Because of you I’m actually really wanting to buy influencer merch. I’m excited to try your brow kit.❤❤❤ I trust you, so I’m going to give it a try. Also, what’s your hair secret. Without the straightener, your hair is gorgeous and healthy looking.😊
I love Dyson , really considering this !!! My hair tends to tangle bc of hair colouring etc, does it catch on any tangles or do u brush out ur wet hair b4 using the airstraight?
You will need to brush before straightening. I would recommend using a detangling heat protectant spray so it's easier cause I know coloured hair can be easily tangled
I wouldn't recommend unless you wanted to splurge. The airwrap can dry and the corrale can straighten and get better results but keep in mind it’ll take longer
My ends would lose it straightness if I don't use hair styling products. This happens to me with any hair tool cause the moisture in the air effects the hair bonds.
I’m so happy you replied my comment Yes, your hair is so good god bless you🤍 Can you tell us the name of the tonic? Or make a video to guide us how to regrow our hair 🤍
I noticed i get better results if i press the "plates" more firmly then just barely touching it to start straightening. is it just me or am I doing something wrong? lol
$500?!? Holy hell. I was considering it because I hate blow drying and my hair is... Chaotic, but it's also mostly straight and this is really not worth the price.
I like the 2 in 1 but my fave rn is the tymo comb iron. It does a superior job whether you blow dry 1st or air dry. In love. I was scared at first. I’m like ok I saw this advert on IG or TikTok, not sure which. I was like Lawd don’t burn my hair. It’s not expensive so I thought this is gonna suck I know it. Damn I was wrong lol. I mean just an idea for you.
Tina I'm a big fan of yours❤️❤️❤️..since I was 15 I started following u and now I'm 19 still following u . u're one of the best RU-vidrs out there ...can I get pinned?❤️❤️🫶🏻
