I'm already experiencing playback issues via Kodi and Amazon prime. Stuttering video and losing the HDR signal. It won't play Dolby vision from Kodi either.... It's reasonable snappy, and I do like the interface, so hopefully Google will fix these issues. Great review, but no mention of any playback issues at all?
Great video, but should have mentioned like what formats are supported. Would have been great device if it supported dts, but no, so i dont see any reason to replace my 7 year old apple tv, still works buttery smooth.
I already have an AppleTv 4k and an NVidia Shield Pro - bought the Streamer here in the UK and was impressed with the fluidity of the interface, liked the home controls as we are all an all google household. Problems started when i realised i had to change default resolutions as some of my non mainstream apps were frame dropping like mad. The resolution that works, does not support Dolby Vision. Then True HD is not supported...cant decide whether to keep the NVidia or not. It has started slowing down and i fear the new streamer s likely to get more clever in time. @upgradeGuyTech what do you think?
I can't get around the fact that the Fire TV Cube 3 has obsolete ports in USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet. I am not going to pay $130+ when they decided to skimp on hardware like that. I wish there was a real alternative to the Shield 2019 Pro.
@UpgradeGuyTech People who play 4k remuxes from their local media servers sometimes require speeds more than 100Mbps. IMO USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet ports should have been phased out several years ago. USB 3.0 has been around for almost 2 decades, and Gigabit Ethernet has been available for over 25 years. USB 4.0 will soon become the new standard, and 10Gbps equipment is starting to become a lot cheaper. For now, IMO USB 3.2 and Gigabit Ethernet should be the default standards. Since these standards are all backward compatible, there really is no need to keep making boards with the old ports. The cost difference is negligible, and IMO not worth keeping those old ports in production.
I want to know about apps that have live, in the minute , sports, weekly shows, entertainment. I have one called creed but it is continually cutting out between 6 and 10 in the evening so it might be customer overload. Tell me what to purchase to get what I want.
Googles ad should say "Streaming WITH all the hassles". Doesn't even work with Googles Home app if your network uses AP isolation (guest network). Doesn't like 5ghz networks. Plus all these on this video.
The Onn 4k 32 - 4 is cheaper and better do a review between Google and Onn box they need to make a box with SD memory slot so we can have more APKS and fast speed without the killer circle I hate the buffing 😢
Should of never discontinued the chrome cast it’s in a price range for a different audience I was looking to buy more chrome cast HD I don’t even have a device that can take advantage of 4k
And can I add a usb dongle to this device like the anker or ugreen because my chrome cast had a dongle with 512gb usb and a usb keyboard. But that otg thing looks like it only has one usb port at least the one in the picture. Someone let me know
But it’s literally a completely different OS and experience then Apple TV. This is more comparable to a fire tv cube or an Nvidia Shield. Not a good comparison 🤡
The Apple TV had me intrigued until I realized there is no 3rd party App Store and some apps I would be able to download on a android style tv box I can’t get with Apple was a huge blow for me. Smart tube and popcorn time are some almost daily apps for me not being able to use it made sure I wouldn’t get an Apple. But if Apple would allow for that I’d get an Apple TV so fast no question
