If you think it looks worse than the 2013 version, you have not played the 2013 version. It is of course not good, but that assessment is simply ridiculous. Further, Sony did not mess up every port, they messed up this one and they had some issues with Horizon Zero Dawn (which was pretty much their first). All other ports were actually pretty good with only very minor issues. You see that is the problem with you...you seem like a smart guy but you are not able to accurately assess issues and put them appropriately into words. It might be better for you to script things carefully before putting them out there instead of just winging it...because let's be real...you are not good at winging it since you lack the necessary rhetorical skills.

Luke, you need to include frame time graphs in your metrics. It's very good judge of how a game runs while pushing a specific fps. For example, even at your 30pfs, it looks like the game still struggles and studders... frame time graphs help illustrate that to your audience

For Optimized settings focused channel i recommend "BenchmarKing" he's been killing in that regard (the concept is : compare all graphical settings from low to ultra quality and performance wise and finding the optimal setting for great performance and roughly no quality loss, so you get the game looking the best while still keeping great fps)

Unfortunatly the performance overlay he is using is massively flawed and shows very wrong data. CPU should be at 90-100% and GPU with the 4090 should be between 60 and 85. I can tell because I have the same hardware.

I finally played through the PC version yesterday. Before then, I kept trying to play it and it would always crash. After update 1.2 though, I gave it another shot and kept playing until the end, no more crashing, and the performance was perfect.

I played through the last of us on my pc. I got no crashes, but my god, the issues I had were a pain in my ass. Loading screens galore, and I played through the whole game at 40 fps (I have a i3 10100 and a 6600 xt)

Yeah we have a similar set up but I have a 3700x, I actually managed to use all high textures but still my god, it ran fine up until I met bill, and it turned into low 50’s fps sometimes es 40 with horrendous loading screens

4 core 8 thread cpus aren't enough for this game , it is very demanding on the CPU and vram (eats up to 6 gb even on low settings). Tested it on a i7 6700 + RX 580 8GB, never got more than 45 fps on medium settings and even on the lowest settings. The RX 580 can push the fps somewhere between 50 & 60 fps (with some drops into the 40s) on 1080p medium + FSR2 (testet it with the RX 580 on a Ryzen5 3600X later on and got better results than on the i7 6700 and my gpu was fully utilized). Quadcores are dieing right now (at least in gaming), their era is long gone.

I’ve completed the game 3 ish times (the last time I was completing achievement so I went back and forth and skipped some sections) and I’ve had 2 crashes, multiple frame drops but doesn’t go below 40 ish frames.. it usually stays around 45-60 I’ve noticed stutters every now and then but isn’t horribly but it is noticeable. I play on high settings with a 1660 Super and an I5-10600KF.

@wiren Your experience doesn't represent the average then, while re4r is pretty resource intensive most people with at least decent rigs have no issues at all while tlou:p1 is absolutely plagued with bugs and crashes to the point of being nearly unplayable. Just because it has miraculously worked fine for you doesn't mean it's a good port or that you need to counter signal people who warn people about it.

I don't get why you even try to defend this port. This game literally consists of corridors and graphically is not intensive at all. It MUST run 60 fps stable at low-medium on 1080p with gtx 1070. What they've done here with the optimization is atrocious. This is what happens when you hire by quota, not skill.

The patch-notes suck as much as the port does. In some of the major fixes they don't specify nearly enough what/where/how was fixed. Lots of mentions are so vague.

Would only recommend this if you have 12 GB of VRAM or more. Runs great on my 6800 XT but had numerous crashes on my 3060 TI.

i respect this opinion about telling people beforehand to not buy the game if they dont have atleast 12 gb vram which is great, with that being said i did decide to look up some of some metrics, about what the majority of people have in terms of gpu availability and it turns out majority of people on the planet still have 4 gb to 8 gb vram, and people with 12 or more are the top 5 or 10 percent, so the other side of the argument is its basically alienating almost everyone due to this horrible optimization for a 2013 game, I do understand this build was made ground up for ps5 which is again fine, but it is very nasty to let people preorder the game in the pc world months before the release and then releasing the system requirements a week before launch, where alot of people wouldn't even have noticed it.

I'm constantly complaining and demanding a fix in the Naughty Dog twitter for the mouse jittering problem, but 3 patches later, no fix. I wonder if it will ever get fixed at this point.

Still gnarly after updating with the Nvidia hot fix and the 15gb patch, running on a 3090/Ryzen/32GB. Glitchy and unable to use a controller properly. Keeps giving me keyboard prompts. Unable to run for whatever reason. Frame rate has taken a battering, was quite high, now much, much, lower and stutters, not as bad, but still does in places. As much as I love this game and wanted to experience it on super wide screen on my monitor, it's a mess and will likely come back to it later in the year.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I preordered this on Steam and platted it on my Deck. I had almost no issues with the game. I topped the refresh rate at 40hz and I got a consistent 40fps with occasional framerate drops to no less than 28fps. It crashed once when I was in the main menu, and there were occasional framerate stutters when the action ramped up. But, I was able to 100% the game with no problems.

I do need to add that there were some rendering issues, such as maps and notes taking a few seconds to completely draw in. Some signs, like evacuation notices, wouldn't draw at all. But, none of these affected my gameplay in any way.

Wait, you can't tell the controller issue is fixed? Even on your 4090? Oh man, I think it's night and day. I too had a quest item bug after the patch and just had to restart the checkpoint. However, I never played the game before and I was legitimately stuck for half hour before I finally looked it up. Found out a crate didn't spawn that I was suppose to move because some manaquin head was freaking out and this was in the Left Behind DLC at the electric water part. But, only bug I came across since release.

I spoke to a beta tester months before this was released on PC. According to the testers it was running perfectly, but I remembered that these guys get top of the line PCs to test with. But I question, was the game actually playable despite these testers having monster machines? Was the vram usage properly optimised? I have a feeling beta testers get good versions to play with compared to what happens at release.

So I’ve been playing since launch day, Ryzen 7600x amd 6800, running 1440p 60-70fps with everything set to ultra. Absolutely no issues. I will say the shaders took about 4 hours but I didn’t think that was a huge deal.

I've checked and the 1070 is listed in the minimum requirement list, not on the recommanded. But still they're saying you can play the game with at 1070. In fact it says 1050ti. My game runs like shit with a 3060ti even after the third big update. But it runs. Before it was just crashing

this situation isn't going to be fixed anytime. I played it first on ps3, and a full minute loading for chapter 1 for me was already a long time. MGS4 was even worse, but as far I recall, not more than 2 minutes. I understand the shader compiling thing of the current platforms, but I'd give up playing anything taking 2+ minutes to be ready to play.

Find it strange that this is happening for a lot of people. Really really sucks. I just bought myself a 2023 Rog zephyrus m16. 1tb, RTX 2070, QHD screen and I'm able to play at nearly ultra settings for everything with a buttery smooth FPS. On Best Buy you can get it open box for around 1800 but even if you buy it brand new you can get it under 2k! I was going to get the G14 from 2022 because Best Buy currently has it on sale for 1000 as well as of 2022 m16 for 1500ish.

That's the thing about having high-end GPUs. I have a RTX 3090, but the PC gaming market has been shitty for too long a time for me to even think that just because my PC runs it well, the complaints from other gamers might be overblown. Heck, I know most games today won't run as well on something like the 3090 as you would expect and I pretty much enable DLSS the first time if it's available in the game.

I'm running about a 2000 dollar setup, with an RTX 3070Ti, and I've had GPU crashes out the ass, I can barely run Medium settings, the stuttering and frame rate is atrocious, and it took forever to build shaders. If you wanna play this game on PC, I'm begging you to wait. Keep an eye on boards and videos about it and get it when it's better optimized and probably cheaper.

Last 2 patches broke my games fps and its a stuttery mess and can drop from 48fps to 8 randomly and stutter, eventually it crashes. Before the patch on the 7th, my game all on high was fine at 50 to 60fps, some times 47, on my 3070, no stutters. Now its trash. The hell did they do? Beforw the 7th ive had no issues except for purple room and colors bugs. Now i dont want to even touch the game. I ain't lowering my shit to low settings, this is unacceptable for a 3070.

12900 + 3080ti laptop here: Updated the graphics driver and let everything compile like the game requested. It runs at a stable 60 to 80 FPS on Ultra ( native, no DLSS or other helpers) which is totally playable and looks great but not enough FPS for these little maps... They did good with the patches but the game devs seem to like working under pressure after the " public beta testing" has failed and the game has negative reception...

First time through I had that same key bug. Once I restarted the checkpoint it worked ok. BS. It is my first time playing this game and I did exactly what you said and ran around trying to find some alternate route. Hint kept pointing there and I was like "there must be a path underground that leads to underneath him. Finally decided it must be a key he drops and restarted the checkpoint. Very frustrating.

After trying this on PC I just decided to grab it on PS5 and hell it's perfect. I reckon if you got a PS5 and gaming PC like me just go for the PS5 edition, the 3D Audio and Haptic feedback already wins, not to mention you get to play on your OLED TV instead of monitor.

@@celphalonred1999 The thing is who uses their PC on a 65 inch OLED TV ? I mean yeah you can, but that is not casual. I also don't see any troubles with the PS5 version. About the 3D audio and Haptic feedback it may work but the controller's audio sound is completety destroyed. I tried Returnal PC recently and it was terrible when the map is raining and the sound of rain in the controller is completely trash. Not to mention you have to connect your controller with the PC by cable since wireless does not work for 3D audio and haptic feedback.

i play this game on brothers 6700 xt and 5600, 16 gb of ram, 1080p, mix of ultra and high, 11.4 gb in menu of vram, today i played like 2h and it crashed once, i think it ask more than 12 gb in some places and thats why it crash, when i had 11,8gb of usage in menu it crashed more often, like every 10 min or so

I dont know why but i havent had any issues except some stutter pre patches. Im not a shill i didnt buy it and i hate naughty dog and soyny. Some drops to 45-50 fps 3070ti, 2700x, 16g ram no real issues. 45 fps feels smooth enough for this game. (BIG NOTE): Old version of skyrim feels laggy for me at any fps. MInecraft is stuttery feeling under like 95 fps. It just doesnt hurt to get 45 fps for me on my system in last of us part1. My only real complaint toward this version is i prefer way older games color correction was setup. I am close to end (immediately after the cannibal encounter before entering the tunnel to fireflies) and only had one or two crashes.

YOU ARE NUTS, the controller looked more jittery and I quit using the xbox 360 controller because my Corsair gaming mouse is far smoother. Check your mouse settings you may need to turn up the polling rate.

The low/medium settings of this game are disgusting. And the fact that if you have a 3070 (not a gtx 750 ti) you'll need to run it on medium is beyond me. Toss this game into the trash and give us the PS4 remaster if we can run it on ultra/60fps.

Did u look at the minimum spec requirements . It's gtx 1050ti so a 1070 is not nothing it's hard step-up. Cpu is what matters more in this game than anything . Anything short of 8core plus ➕️ it trainwreck .

i5 12600k - RTX 3080 10GB VRAM. High settings 1440p no DLSS(it seems to run better without DLSS for me). Average around 64fps but dips to 40 - 50 in some areas. Before the most recent update I had one crash in the menu system during 20hrs of gameplay and shaders took 20 - 30 mins. Since newest update I have had around 8 crashes(in game and menu) in 10hr of gameplay and shaders took 5mins.

Exactly what i am talking about your rig is not bad but they only focus on top of the line hardware people with 3090 and 4090 should not test games because the will never understand us and can not compare people should do something about it i say stop buying games and hardware for 2 years and they will start taking people seriously

Erm, not in the slightest? 1070 has roughly 80% of the ps5's GPU (roughly 5700xt) that is put on the recommended settings, way above rx470 in the minimal specs. The problem is that the ps5 can do 1440p 60 when 1070 is struggles WITH *SEVEN TWENTY* p resolution because you enabled FSR, and it still looks worse than ps4 which has a GPU that's 3 times slower, 7 gigs of total usable ram+vram and a laptop-grade HDD.

most people don’t have a 4090 kind of like how most people still don’t have a ps5. Not everyone has the money to buy the most recent/best hardware. A 1070 should be able to run the game on low at 1080p given it beats the minimum requirements on the steam page. People who have a 1070 shouldn’t be forced to upgrade for one game when that card runs every other game just fine. I understand they are trying to sell the latest greatest technology but I don’t want to upgrade my graphics card every single year to be able to keep playing games on pc, especially when they are single player.

This just proves AGAIN and again that the REAL game is being experienced on the console it's meant for it to be played instead of the 5% that don't care about the content but want the tiny little irrelevant details to be exactly how they like it! This is why the console market (with the objectively BETTER games) wins easily and is larger than the nerds that want to get a pc with FEWER games that are LESS good and want to pay 5 to 6 times MORE to be able to play it later and maybe get 15%M better graphics that most of the time don't even come through to the lesser platforms (PC), exactly like this example:)

1080p60 FSR2 Quality, Ultra on 5700 XT + R5 3600 + 32 GB RAM + 64 GB Page file (on PCIe 4.0 SSD). Extremely minor stutters. Dropping textures to High is a locked 60 with no stutters.

well, 1070 perf. is terrible. i litterally enyojed it on my RX6800 without any patches ... lol. yes i had to lower something, but overall, no complaints. 4k@60 TV with fsr quality and dualsense controller
