Now that it's at ulta you get it for under 20. Honestly, for a product of this quality and caliber, any other big company would be charging 30 to 40 dollars for a 12oz bottle.
I love the shampoo. It has become my fav out of all of her products. I'm in the minority and have used it every week since I got it. I prepoo beforehand. It gets my hair CLEAN CLEAN. I use it because it allows deep conditioners to perform their best. I think that since shampoos are so moisturizing now they don't really allow DCs to perform their best. This is definitely a staple in my regimen.
I just purchased this shampoo last night and used it with a deep conditioner…LOOOOOOVE!!! It def allows the deep conditioner to work its magic on my LOW porosity hair. My hair was extremely moisturized and shiny. 🙌🏾
I haven’t tried her shampoo yet, but I am a big black soap using. That is my go-to cleanser when washing my hair. I tend to do 2-3 washes to make sure my hair is fully clean (sebum). Your hair will feel much softer after the second rinse, the first rinse makes it feel a bit crunchy. Also I have found that I can easily detangle my hair during the second wash. Thank you for addressing what Whitney said to the naysayers. I find that so many people are uneducated about how black soap works and they are quick to be controversial for the sake of being messy, not realizing that it’s their ignorance that’s the problem and not the shampoo.
You're review was so honest and amazing and i love your personality! Also, I thought I was the only person who doubts how they use certain hair products lool I was really asking the same thing with the leave-in conditioner
New subbie here, lm seeing this shampoo around RU-vid these days, smash the button down below, the sound is funny 😂 😂, l used African soap before l really love it
Yesss, I feel you on the lowkey being confused about it being multi-use as far as being able to leave it in and as conditioner/deep conditioner. I ended up leaving mine in after deep conditioning and didn’t like it. I feel like if I had rinsed it out then applied a bit more directly after it would’ve been better.
I was waiting on your review. I love her products. I actually prepoo before I use the shampoo. It works great. Also, I only wash my hair once with this product. Thanks
I completely agree when you said you said you’d like an 8oz option. My mom and I share hair stuff but we won’t use 16 oz in year, especially because it’s a more of a stripping shampoo. I wrote on else’s video that this is a great reset shampoo so this would be my one of last option shampoos, when nothing else works to remove build-up aka the big guns.
Actually her price is pretty comparable. If you were to order 16 ounces of Alikay Naturals Black Soap shampoo it would cost 20.99 plus shipping unless you order a specific dollar amount of products to get free shipping. However, as you mentioned if you live near an Ulta Beauty store, just go to the store and get the product and save the cost of shipping. Shipping is just a cost of ordering products. I order my hair products all the time. I just get a friend or a family member to order the same time I do and split the cost. Typically we don't pay shipping and we can get another product, because lets face it shipping can sometimes pay for another product.
Guys everybody hair is different. I have followed Naptula85 since 2011. I have tried all her DIY's. I will support her, she is black owed that is reason enough for me to support her. The products that I buy from her and other black owed, if the products does not work for my hair, I give them away to the next natural person in my circle.
I have been using this shampoo once a week for 5 weeks. My hair loves it. After shampooing, my hair is squeaky clean and super soft and hydrated. I have all her products. (In fact, just bought the entire product line as a gift for my daughter.) My favorite is the conditioner followed by the shampoo and oil (equally). The style cream is my least favorite simply because I have fine natural hair and it feels heavy on my hair. I use it sparingly as a result.
I absolutely LOVE this shampoo and the conditioner and the Multi-Use Oil (I use it on my body also)! I used to not be a 'every shampoo clarifying shampoo' person but this shampoo has changed my mind. My products do so much better after I use this shampoo AND the definition I get in the shower after all the buildup is gone is amazing! My roots lay much flatter when I use this shampoo. Plus the shine I get - chef's 😘!
I bought the leave-in and styling cream a few months ago...what I wasn't happy with was the shipping cost 😕, but the products were nice when I used them together. I think this is a line that's formulated to be used as a set. The shampoo I have yet to buy because I make my own. So I just enjoy the reviews for now. Thank you for sharing, and I'm glad she corrected the crowd on the reason behind the black soap "ingredient". 🙌🏾 You already know I appreciate your reviews! #TwistOutGangGangGanggg 🙌🏾😜🧡
Thank you Curly Crys for this review! I know it's kind of old, but ... I've been using Melanin products since they came out and I agree with almost everything you said. However, the shampoo does not last me very long at all. I like to wash my hair frequently - once every one to two weeks. My hair is super dense and long, so the shampoo does not last long. It gives me that squeaky clean feeling, too, but I like that because it enhances the benefits/properties of the leave-in conditioner. The shampoo and the leave-in really complement one another. I understood what you were saying, but I don't rinse the leave-in conditioner out. I don't see the need for the extra step, although I can see where it could work to rinse it out and then reapply it as a leave-in. I guess the water could rehydrate and help re-define the hair? I just don't have money like that!
Great video girl like always. ❣ yes I've used the oil and hair cream. Will buy the oil again. But not the cream. Not the leave in or shampoo. I love using the black Jamaica castle oil shampoo from shea moisture. Does me good. ❣
I like Shea Moisture product better for my hair also. I think it cleanses a little better when it comes to heavy gels and such. However, the Melanin ABS is still a great product. It works really well on my daughter's hair who has had some scalp issues. That's all gone after using this. I will continue to order this. Use what works best for your hair 😊.
This was an awesome review,! All of the Melanin Hair Care Products I’ve tried so far have been superior to many others I’ve tried. I placed my order with Ulta since the Melanin Hair Care site sold out so quickly, and I CANNOT WAIT to try this shampoo!
I’ve tried the leave in, oil and twisting butter. The leave in and oil work pretty well for my hair but the butter was a no for my low porosity hair. It sits on my hair. I’m not sure if I’ll try the shampoo, at least not now. Maybe sometime in the future. Thx for your honest review. 👍🏽
Yes sis I just mine from ULTA two days ago!! I’ve used the leave in and curling cream from Melanin before but when I saw it on ULTA online yes I ordered all 3! Restock on the leave in conditioner and curling cream😉notificationnaturalhair😘
I can't wait to try this, but it's always sold out on the official website. I'm with you Crys, I like co-washes, soft hair. But I think a really clean feeling would be nice, as long as it does not strip and make it hard to detangle. I think you used too much, especially on the first section. It looks like a little goes a long way. I love the twist on caps on her products because I'm always knocking things over, but no spills or waste with a twist on cap that doesn't pop off when I knock it over.
I “thought” I was going to go buy it yesterday at the store, but when I finally got out of the house my car said no Sis. Hopefully I can grab some tomorrow when my car is ready. I don’t wanna pay shipping 🤦🏾♀️
I think your hair hates glycerin because you probably use it in the winter months. When you use glycerin( humectant) in the winter it moves out of your hair cuticle leaving your hair dry.
For myself, as far as the conditioner goes, I wash my hair out the conditioner in my hair, I put a hit cap on, or shower cap on to deep condition, and when I go to rinse it off, I basically only rinse of the residue and leave majority of it on my hair as a leave in and style like normal. So for me, I believe that’s me using it as a deep conditioner, leave in, and I also use it to refresh my curls. So I love love love the conditioner.
Did it leave your hair feeling moisturized? I like it but it feels like it leaves a coating. I washed it out multiple times and had another person make sure I washed it all out. 🤔 the coating feels weird on my hands
Hey sis!!! I loved the review! I really want to try the leave in and oil because I still haven’t tried it! This is not related to the video but what is your favorite moisturizing shampoo? I have yet to find a shampoo that doesn’t strip my hair, the ones I have recently tried are..(carols daughter wash day delight, aunt Jackie’s oh so clean, and tresseme’ botanique shampoo). Help me sis!
I don’t like the shampoo lol I used it once and it was very stripping 😬 I’ll probably use if I have buildup but I looooove their leave in & styling cream (UPDATE: I like it now 😩🤣 used it a few more times and by the 3rd time my hair started to feel soft instead of stripped)
I do wanna correct something that Felicia Letherwood did for me. The natural oils that shampoos claim to not strip, is at the scalp and not the strands! Overall Yasssss sis!!! Now all we gotta do is try that naptural85 flat twist out method lol.
@@CurlieCrys I can't wait for you to try that method.. I love your twist-outs but i want to know if i could get bomb results without doing as many twists
I believe the shampoo is a chelating shampoo.(correction, clarifying not chelating)It works so wonderfully. As a deep conditioner it is a miracle for most textures.
Hi the shampoo is great for sure. I would say its a claryfying shampoo. It's definitely not chelating. I live in a hard water area and have to use a chelating shampoo every 4 to 6 weeks. This shampoo does not remove hard water mineral build up. But as I said it's a great shampoo that I use fortnightly. 😊
I’ve used this shampoo 3 times now. The first time I was like nope. I deep conditioned twice after to get my hair moisturized. I had never used African Black before. The 2nd time I used it to clean my scalp, letting the Lather work its way down. Then I used her conditioner as a washout, deep conditioner, then her conditioner as a leave-in (which what I usually use) her cream and oil. 3rd time I used it with different products and it worked well, now that I know what African Black Shampoo is supposed to do. Also the 2nd and 3 time I had a lot of built up on my scalp and hair.
I just purchased this shampoo last night and used it with a deep conditioner…LOOOOOOVE!!! It def allows the deep conditioner to work its magic on my LOW porosity hair. My hair was extremely moisturized and shiny. 🙌🏾
