I Tried The New Wuthering Waves 1.3 Update... 

The game had improved incredibly, The only people complaining about optimization are people with low end devices

unfortunately 1.3 is just disappointing ... and there is a really good reddit post about why

" - The Shorekeeper banner is awful. They knew people will roll on it no matter what because we need a third healer, so they doubled down and hand-picked the least desired 4*s in the game, which made me start the patch with a sour taste in my mouth. (Chixia might be okay, but I already had her C6) - There is no info on roguelite mode's improvement or if it even will return at all this patch. - The new area feels... empty. There is barely anything worth exploring. - The story itself was extremely rushed. There were a lot of heavy and important things that happened during the story, but none was given appropriate time and attention, we kept jumping to the next one heavy thing, and this kept repeating like a dozen times, so I couldn't really emotionally feel invested in anything, despite really really wanting to. - Shorekeeper was practically the only character in the story, and she kept repeating the same 2-3 things such as "I will die for you" a dozen times, so it lost even whatever little emotional impact it could have had, and made me struggle to feel for her. - Youhu just appeared to deliver an item. No other relevance - No Encore or Camellya, despite us visitting their hometown for the first time. - The game keeps trying to explain what is happening with made-up technobabble, but then it sometimes just gives up and starts doing mentally incomprehensible things, like the last 30 minutes of the story. If you don't want me to understand, then don't try to explain, so I can just vibe with a turned off mind, but don't keep jumping between the two. "

ik you mean from a gameplay perspective and i def agree. it's interesting bc my biggest con about the game is all the mc glazing as they go on their journey to build the largest harem possible with no subtlety.

I think they only offer half dedicated solutions. I say I want more level up materials! I want to build and tryout more characters! We do get it but all of it is event based, and so much are copy pasted from genshin. double drop week etc. I want 100% banners like in Snowbreak, add more pulls for it, 20 or so, but it's guaranteed. Winning is the 50/50 is nice, but it's far worse to lose it. Winning feels good but it feels like you already earned the win. Losing feels outright awful! Second place! All that work, for nothing. Who enjoys that? Why copy that? I get it, genshin was successful so if they copy it and make it just a liiitle bit better they will earn the megabucks.

It's been done in games before genshin, if not there is a 50/50 system in a lot of games where you can lose up to 2 times but 3rd time is guaranteed. Not to mentioned their weapon banner is 100% guarantee unlike genshin. Saying wuwa copied genshin is so dumb when wuwa has features that genshin has but 10 times better and better qol. Wuwa has double rate drops but so is other gacha games other than genshin lol, not to mentioned the double drop event occurs 2-3 times per patch, while for genshin is not that often. Wuwa has 50/50 system on their chara banner but they are extremely generous in terms of rewards. I'm f2p, have like 4 5* weapons and every limited chara except jiyan, not to mentioned i'm unlucky i lost all the 50/50 and get the charas around 60-80 pulls. Right now i still have 15k gems even after pulling so much bc the game is generous and doesn't require heavy grind like genshin. So stop complaining lol. If they do implement what you suggested then there would be barely any revenue, as the game is already generous, hence why snowbreak is not that popular and their revenue isn't on the top lmao. (yes i play all 3 games) Asking for 100% guarantee and more level up materials doesn't make it a gacha anymore and just basically asking devs to help you beat the game in a week lmao. That's not how gacha games work, you aren't supposed to get every single chara as f2p (except for games like afk arena where you need to pull a lot to get dupes, so having all charas doesn't matter) Even one of the most generous games like azur lane it's not easy for f2p to own every single character. I'm building 4 teams rn, finish all of them in under a week in terms of talents and levels + weapons, and it was barely a grind when it comes to materials (if you actually explore and open chest), i still have a shit ton of exp mats left, so idk how you're running out of them bc i barely grind and i get a lot. The materials required to level up isnt even as painful as genshin as their drops are higher and it cost less materials to level up...You complaints seem a lot more like tiny personal nitpicks bc you are too lazy to spend 10 minutes using 240 resins everyday on materials rather than "dedicated solutions". The point of gacha game is the rng aspect of it. Sorry if this is too long and you ain't reading allat bc you can't comprehend basic sentences but these nitpicks are so dumb i feel the need to call it out lol

Which is not surprising since the devs talked about that their initial vision for WuWa was heavily inspired by Death Stranding and they are well known to be a bunch of Nier fanboys and -girls. That Nier collab in PGR was not a coincident.

Black shores was pure Nier Automata, the pods, the music, also getting the pod to follow you around and shoot puzzles and the one you get for shooting puzzles too as a utility, just awesome.

The music Tethys Deep singer took me back to when you first arrive at the carnival in Nier Automata good vibes all around.

HSR has some of the characters out there in the world (and we can talk to them as well to some degree), but I agree, seeing the same in wuwa feels delightful. It would actually be even _more_ delightful if we could contact some of them via Pangu Terminal (think Metal Gear series' codec conversations in a sense?) for either some idle chit-chat or some in-context experience/info exchange. Now _that_ would be a kickass move by Kuro.

sadly i dont feel anything towards Shorekeeper as a character because how poorly they showed her as a person, so there was no empathy for her. but yeah last cutscene was cinema, and map was good, specially minibosses and challenges.

I had a better PC to run WuWa, but feels like 1.3 update feels as unoptimized as pre-patched 1.2 for some reason. And sucks that not everyone got to play this game due to the demand of a mid-high end device.

If you're on phone, try it on PC. I don't play WuWa but I know it will definitely be better visual wise and also for device's health if you own a competant PC.

it is so fun in co op when you do jinshi level damage with her intro, you just need to abuse rotations with quick concerto generation

If you do, just saying it's not increasing 500% Crit Damage, but increasing her Crit Damage to 500% Cap. So you don't need crit damage stats anymore, just all in HP and Spectro Damage but remember to have at least 230% Energy Regen on stats board to maximize her passive!

Is it rushed? I feel like it has quite good duration for a story quest. The yapping are lessened and they opted to "show" more than to "tell", which should be the norm with storytelling.

reading this really reflect my own experience. my girlfriend kept asking me to play Genshin, and I have 6 limited characters on AR21. I just login Genshin to collect rewards, but I think Genshin exploration is kinda slow for me and the combat is sluggish (refer to Genshin v1, don't compare to v3++ where explorations hero released). what you need in Genshin is team composition, elemental reaction, and bombastic damage number. but in Wuwa, I saw one content creator can kill lv120 mini boss using unranked hero just by playing with skill (parry/counter). myself and my girlfriend both play wuwa though, and she died multiple times yesterday doing co-op event vs inferno gangster. I like Genshin for its vibrant world, but I love Wuwa for every other aspect. the day Wuwa update 1.3 released which is Sunday, I managed to 100% its content on the same day. was saving 17k astrite to pull Camellya, but when SK is here I told my girlfriend that I will forever regret if I skip this waifu. so I pulled her and won the rate off. the following Monday, I didn't know what got into me. I blindly spent more astrite hoping to get 1x her copy (to extend ult duration & area effect). but during the 7th batch pull (pity 70+), voila got 3x her copy. now she is my lv90 support healer. while baizhi & verina still lv80 for bench warmers. now since Wuwa content is waiting for update 1.3 phase 2, I fill my time to play Genshin as both game are supposed to be coexist not to kill each other.

@@seetobi Yeah, i get exactly what you mean. i killed multiple level 120 bosses with level 20-40 characters, at this time my main dps was Danjin, a 4 star character which is high risk, high reward. she still is easily my 2nd best built character in the game with a crit split of 101% crit rate over 262% crot damage, and basically now the main dps of my 2nd team. i didn't even fully realize I wasnt supposed to beat these mini on-map bosses on release day - i just tried and managed to do so because it was hella fun. the game at no point felt like a chore or something annoying to go through, everything is fast paced, super fun and the combat is just the cherry on top. my verina is actually on c4 and shes AWESOME, but i have gotten so good at the game that shorekeeper just is a little better on my main team, she has boosted my dps' rotation damage from around 700k to over 1 million. i do have to play more carefully again like i had to do when wuwa just released and i played a character whos constantly on 1 HP, but honestly? thats half of the fun. verina will now keep my 2nd team for the abyss / tower Safe, while my shorekeeper semi-heals and boosts damage for my first team while she also adds around 60k damage on top of my rotation with her super intro skill. i also only started genshin for my girlfriend, haha. she needed someone who understand the common system of MMORPGs (equipment, abilities etc) to explain it to her and carry her. I wouldn't even play genshin at all of it wasn't for her, because the game just feels super slow and even logging in feels like a chore. i havent touched a single sidequest since Inazuma. and i wont ever do it. literally just gave my account to an irl friend who could barely do the abyss on his own account recently since i thought that if i dont wanna play the game anyway, i csn at least give my Account with alot of very, very well built characters to someone who'd have a blast with it. all the account needs to be godlike is patience to do all the annoying stuff like literally all quests except for main quests, reputation quests and anything else thats just annoying, aka collecting stuff to level the trees / fountains and so on. meanwhile, i literally even maxed my Chef level in wuwa even though it ate ressources like crazy. i literally only have daily quests and some few achievements left to get primos or asterites or however you wanna call them, everything else is on 100% and my achievements are between 92 and 100% as well. all thats missing is stuff i literally cant do, like performing intro skills of characters i do not own 100 Times and stuff like that. also just saying, camellya has been my favourite design since release and i literally have been saving up for her as well. i just legit did 10 pulls on SK at 0 pity and was like 'if i get her, i get her. i have c4 verina, i dont NEED her.' low and behold, i got her, and her weapon after 20 as well. so i got lucky enough to still save Most of my stuff for camellya, my beloved.

I suppose they just want to polish the quality more than adding filler junk to extend the plot 🤷

I would say, we are all so used to the Genshin style of yapping with random NPCs and honestly, the quest was 4 hours long, time just fly by because it was enjoyable, WuWa does one thing way better than hoyo games is that it great playable content in the story quests, like the last parkour scene when we try to rescue shorekeeper, that's a AAA game my man

I believe we're still getting more this update, there's Encore's companion quest for example and few other events, they're just spread out during the version's period.

This is my problem with all of the big gachas atm, they're too easy to no-life and get everything done immediately. A day or two of excitement then back to the artefact mines for the rest of the update

I think the opposite, kinda. Most characters often feel like they don't exist outside the rover, theres no dynamics between the characters themselves. And this DOES hurt their sales actually, wuwa admittedly isnt quite there yet with hoyo playernumbers, but even for it size the game does just alright sales number wise. Zhezhi is incredibly broken but her banner completely underperformed, because people didn't really care about her.

@@Supreme_Bargainer Genshin in its exposition Phase was also not really that good, which is just expected from an exposition in general. Mondstadt only really had fighting an abyss mage that captured a dragon, and nothing about that Resolved the main plot really, other than telling you to just go to Liyue instead.. There was barely any reason for you to do any of this. Liyue and Inazuma were also for the most part rather bland tbh. When people talk about good story in Genshin, nobody says that Mondstadt, Liyue or Inazuma were "good" (again, they were expositions, lots of yapping and barely any impactful story is expected for the most part). WuWa already being probably almost as good as some parts Sumeru in its later half, already shows some good signs, that the story will be really damn good. And dumbing down the story of WuWa to a dating Simulator is rather unserious. It would be like calling HSR a dating Simulator, because Firefly has a close relationship to the main character in the story. Shorekeeper is literally a created being that was solely made to absorb emotions during laments, in order to feed and calculate them for the Tethys system. Seeing her actually open up in the story somewhat is absolutely expected. Especially since she still tries to suppress those emotions, just so that the people of the Black shores would straightup care less about here, and don't mind about putting her back into the tethys system. She was emotionally unstable for hundreds of years, and literally tried to make herself seem uninteresting, just so she could sacrifice herself without people caring. ANY emotional dialogue with her would very much break her already, since for all her life, she was basically just a machine...

Inazuma was a bit rushed but still has a much more interesting plot than wuwa's 1.3 quest like seriously.... raiden shogun vision hunt decree and fatui involvement really carry out the quest... shorekeeper quest is literally just a dating sim... the entire quest is just shorekeeper past and suddenly she fell in love with the rover?? like seriously?? Next we will see how rover and chamelya fell in love 🤦

@@Mariuslorca i would rate its story a 5/10 That being said genshin objectively has 3/10 story. Even if they had the same story that would mean it is a better game in general since every other mechanic is way better than genshins.

Naah compare to genshin the story didn't disappointed. Genshin story is so recycled and still no info about the God just kills the vibes where as Wuwa is dropping lores and revealing who he is

@@aosiel i dont think so, Genshin's story in 1.x Mondstadt ,it is your standard fairly cohesive fantasy story for world building and introductory to the game's world, i would rate it 6/10. In Liyue Stories i would rate it average but i also hate its Main quest for being as rushed as Wuwa Story, so I would rate it 4/10. Though its world building is good. Inazuma Stories are good in general but fell flat on its main Quest for being as as rushed as Liyue so i would rate it similarly with Liyue which is 4/10. Both Sumeru's and Fontaine's stories are 8-9/10 for me, this is were the game went peak. we havent finished Natlan yet so i reserve my judgement. For me, Wuwa's current story rating stands at 5/10 due to its numerous rushed segments that fail to adhere to the 'show, don't tell' principle like Liyue and Inazuma, leaving the world underexplored and overly focused on hurried interactions with Rover. However, I must commend its impressive visuals, thanks to Unreal Engine, along with the superior mobility and combat mechanics that surpass those found in Tower of Fantasy.
