@@armedweiss5531 I'd say luck certainly did play a part in it then. You get Thug at almost any point in this particular challenge (especially towards the end) and you're dead meat.
@@WickedParanoidthug is actually the best one to get because you can use weapons and the rainbow umbrella absolutely melts everyone. but if you break the umbrella then its pretty shit and you will probably lose
@@WickedParanoid idk if it made it easier or worse that I played with legend remix mod for kiwami and 0 challenges. It made that dragon style challenge from 0 really easy tho. Yakuza 5 levels of combo speed with all the heat actions it entails was probably now how it was intended to be played
the date climax battle in this game was wild! really wish we got more experimental, fun climax battles like that, i love the really challenging ones and all but playing as date in one of these battles was something i never expected but would love to see more of (fighting as someone like kashiwagi, yuya, or rikiya would have been very cool)
In the OG yakuza on the PS2, in it's "climax battles" (it's called battle review mode lol), there's something called survival battle 5 where you literally do every single fight in the game, including some substory battles too
The worst part is that it's incremental. One challenge is every boss in the game up to Hayashi. Next challenge is every boss in the game up until Lau Ka Long. It just keeps going until you hit the final challenge, which is every single major fight in the game. It's so mind-numbingly repetitive.
Yakuza 3 Ultimate Match: "Here, fight this guy, you have this specific skillset, we'll rank you based on how you did." Yakuza Kiwami Climax Battles: "You have three minutes, don't get hit once. Also every enemy has a gun."
so basically real life gang fights; every enemy has a gun and if you get hit once you're dead, also cops are coming in three minutes so you gotta be quick
I deadass just uninstalled Kiwami (Playing 0, and I'm already more than content with what I've complained in K1), and I did a few climax battles, but damn they got really annoying REALLY fast. Got excited to watch this, and see if it was worth going through to test myself. From what I've seen... This game got it bruh, I'm good 💀
0's Climax Battles are much much harder than Kiwami's. I did all the Kiwami battles in one sitting, for 0 I got stuck on that one Proving Grounds where Majima loses health and changes styles randomly for atleast 1 hour. And don't even mention Ultimate Battle 2. Still got them all completed though.
The funny thing about the "beetle" one is that they give you no health, and yet there's certain heat actions you can do to restore HP, meaning you can cheese it since it doesn't count as a fail if you get hit once.

Why is it that I found Kiwami’s climax battles so frustrating but I found Yakuza 3’s climax battles kinda fine. Even Yakuza 0 didn’t give me nearly as much pain as kiwami’s did.

As much as the Climax battles have frustrated me(completed all of 0's and 5's, working on 4 and getting S on 3) I will say they've humbled the shit out of me and to an extent made me a better player. Haven't even started Kiwamis climax battles and watching this makes me already feel like its gonna be a damn struggle

I kinda like the feature where there are different type of dragons one which is more technical or more heat based as it really makes you adapt how you play especially when using each different type of dragon
That Rush style one on the roof was so much easier once you learn that you can use the sword shatter heat action to one shot him and still have heat left to not fail.
Right now, i just finished the godamned Climax Battles. If you mastered the Tiger Drop's timing, you can defeat easily the final stages. Keep fighting, fellas!
I recently beat all of these… I didn’t know about the rush cheese for Melee Battle 10 till 2ish hours of trying where I was almost convinced it was near impossible till I read about it
I don't know if anyone else has pointed it out, but something Probably could have helped is that the Kiwami heal state can actually be broken with regular Heat Actions. The game doesn't tell you this, but at least with a handful of bosses this strategy works if you have a heat action that activates with the enemy standing like Essence of Sumo Slap.
Going through them right now and my god is it agitating. You'd think that "Climax Battles" would be these epic fights where you'll have to make the most of every part of your moveset to win, but instead they take pretty much everything away from you and just add time limits to most of the missions than create any sort of real challenge. The only good one so far has been the final majima gauntlet.
Just did the whole thing yesterday right after completing the game and it unexpectedly just takes couple hours for me. Gotta say compared to 0 the entire climax battles here is a complete joke and I'm glad for it.
These challenges single handedly made me hate the fuck out of Kiwami 1’s combat like legit yakuza 3 ultimate battles were so much less bullshit that it made me thing yakuza 3’s combat was more fun
I figured out that in proving grounds 6 you can do a katana parry that kills the sword guy and leaves you with a small bit of heat left, use the staminan and youre good to go, so it aint even a tease to an extent

19:55 yeah that was my reaction to a lot of yakuza 0 and kiwami 1s climax battles lol, I'm gonna replay both of them for the 100% on the xbox at some point,when i finish the series probably. Also not looking forward to the driving battles on legendary but ehhhh problem for a future me 😂
I got soft locked at the kojima everywhere at the port after you go into the taxi. I have no heals left I have just uninstalled the game my last save was over an hour ago and I’m on legendary. God I’m so lonely.
